Runners that need some nutritional accountability
So I'd like to not clog up the running challenge thread with hot dog talk. If you'd like some honest support with your diet choices, just make that known here.

Im new..ish
I have been on MFP on and off since around 2017, I have NEVER got involved in any community bits I have purely used it for tracking. BUT today I finally Hit goal (first one lol) :D Prior to the pandemic I was running often and did the GSR, then injured my foot and haven't done ANY running since 2020!! So I'm here for it,…

My goal is to do a 5k fun run fir the first time then try other runs as I get better. Hopefully I commented correctly as this my first time joining a group. If you…

Help a newbie
Hi all. Totally newbie runner who's plodding along trying to do something tangible for the Cardiff half. Run a total of 100km in June I'm up to running 12km. My 5km pb is 30.55 and a 70 min 10km. I know I'm not going to set the world alight. Well unless my chaffing continues. However. With my longer runs I've been told I…

Training for my Eighth NYC! Help me learn to eat??
That kind of says it all. Sunday Night, I did a 5 mile run. Monday Morning, I did a ~6.5 mile run. Then, I went to the gym for an hour. Had a WAY undersized protein shake (ummm....I forgot to add enough carbohydrates), and ended up napping all afternoon. Not great for my daily work routine. Can someone help me learn to…

Stress fracture experiences anyone? :(
Has anyone on here ever suffered a stress fracture from running? How long did it take to heal? What low/no impact activities did you find helpful while recovering? I went a little too far with the races in 2019 (4 marathons, 3 1/2 marathons and a handful of 5ks). I am paying for it now. My MRI last week shows a hip stress…

2020 Run the Year Group
Ok I am starting this off the same way @elise4270 did last year (copying her initial post 😁). If anyone has suggestions for changes to how we did it last year let us know, otherwise we will do it in a similar manner: We shall start with: Who wants to join? What is your anticipated yearly milage? Team A, B,C.... And…

How much extra weight have you had while being a runner?
I just wanted to ask this question to the group because there's common wisdom out there that running is not good for the knees, especially if you're overweight. I have never been super fit so I have always carried some extra weight when I've ran consistently in the past. This time around would be the most tho at about 80…

2019 Run the Year Group

Let's talk sports bras
Okay ladies, I'm in need of advice. While out running yesterday I realized that I need at least one new sports bra. I'm pretty sure that compression gear and layering over the winter was doing some heavy lifting, if you'll pardon the pun, and my current gear just ain't cutting it now that I'm in fewer layers and lighter…

Cathartic Thread For Injured Runners, er support for managing injuries. ;-)
There seems to be too many of us lately. Anyone interested in sharing their road to recovery? Check in often! Let it all out, we'll get through this and be stronger runners. Yes I'm chronically injured. I haven't had much time building upwards in my 3 years of dedicated running. I'll try not to prattle on.... My injury…

Superior RR and Q&A

Running on a cruise ship
I’m going on my first cruise in a couple months. I know the cruise ship has a 1/4 mile running track that I’d like to use, but I’m used to running trails with lots of hills... with just my dog for company. I figure I should get in some treadmill workouts before the cruise to get used to steady pace, flat running. Any other…

Running and Meniere's Disease
I searched the message boards and thought maybe this would be an easier forum. I have Meniere's disease which is a chronic, incurable inner ear disturbance that causes balance and severe vertigo and eventual deafness. Mine is only in my left ear. I have been able to control my symptoms by maintaining a very low sodium diet…

Piriformis Syndrome ?
I have all the symptoms... Anyone ever dealt with it before? How long of a break from running did you have to take? Any stretches that were more useful? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Running shoe addiction confession thread ;-p
I can't believe we don't have a thread for pictures of our running shoe collections yet! I'm fully aware I own too many running shoes, but maybe talking about it will help? ;) Here's a picture of my collection: And now some details what kind of shoes they are & what a think about them: Clockwise, starting at the top,…

26 hour 20 min virtual relay run for Dennis
I'm attempting to get this ball rolling. I, personally would like to see this a 52 hour challenge. It is a challenge, right? sign up sheet Option 1. Saturday Sunday October 14th Australia time to overlap with @orphia 's marathon, that i believe is also dedicated to Dennis. GMT I think, Australia is 14.5 hours ahead of us.…

What shoes are you in? Favorite gear to share with others?
Current shoes. OnCloud road shoes. The only pavement I run are races. So, these really suck on the trail because they pick up rocks. Haha! Maybe I'll add some pavement when I make it up for morning runs. 8 drop (I think). TOPO runventure2. For trails. Brand new, but likely will be my favorite shoe ever. Zero drop. 19mm…

What's your favorite race?
The Boston Marathon aside (because that is a different type of experience entirely), my absolute favorite race is the Cincinnati Flying Pig marathon event. I say "event" because it is a weekend long festival of running including a mile race, 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, kid's race and 2 mile "Flying Fur" dog run.…

Foot pain help
Hi all, I’ve been having some aches/pain in the top of my foot and was hoping someone here has experienced something similar in the past. The long version- three weeks ago, I was staying with my family in the smokey mountains and ran a total of 37 miles on trails while there (over the course of 5 runs). It was all up or…

Displaying your medals
Ok, I know a lot of you keep your race medals in a shoebox somewhere, and I know people who have even thrown medals away... BUT for those of you who do enjoy them and display them, how do you do it? There are some cool hangers online, but I'm sure you have other ideas, too. My cheapo-DIY-hanger thingy next to my desk needs…
