Heavy bag recommendations?
Hi, I just received a heavy bag rack for Christmas and I was looking for recommendations on a 70 poundish bag. I am pure boxer and the majority of my workouts would still be at the gym on 100#+ bags. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

So far it has been a great stress reliever, and it's going to kick this bootie back into shape. Any suggestions on boxing gloves, protein powders, or anything you think a woman new…

Bruise healing time?
How long do you guys find it takes for your martial arts bruises to heal? Before I started krav maga, if I had a bruise, it would be more or less gone in a few days. Now my bruises take over a week, and I don't know if it's because I'm getting more serious bruises or what.

Really frustrated right now.
After 3 years of training in TKD ( I'm the one who shows up to every single class, rain or shine) I still have not increased some of my limited mobility in my hips. Well at least I think it is coming from my hips-maybe I need to focus on something else- I just don't know. I can't get my hip turned over enough to throw a…

Advice for half-day "training camp"?
My krav maga instructor is doing a half-day "camp" on Friday with training from 8am to 1pm! I am super-excited, but a little nervous at the idea of a solid five hours of training (minus at least one short break). Classes are usually 1.5 hour twice a week. Does anyone have any advice to keep me going during an extended…

Opinion - does gym cardio improve sparring stamina?
Reason I'm asking this is that I feel like my "cardio fitness" has improved (less muscle fatigue etc) on the standard gym equipment (eliptical / bike) doing high-intensity intervals, but I'm still dying during sparring sessions. My reasoning is that gym cardio doesn't really replicate the effort intensity you put into a…

New to kickboxing - took my leg strike last week
I am a woman who fell in love with the sport of Muay Thai back in July. I've been learning as much as I can and practicing. Part of that practice has included slow motion sparring. I'm a lucky woman who has never been subject to physical abuse or a random attack, so I previously had no idea what it felt like to be hit or…

My first fight - advice?
Hey everyone, I'm fighting in my first small local invite-only muay thai smoker this Saturday. I only had 5 days notice and really hadn't planned on fighting outside my gym for at least another 6 months, but screw it. I was wondering if anyone had thoughts or comments on the following: - Weigh in is a couple hours before…

How do you cut bodyfat while training like a maniac?
I'm trying to cut my bodyfat, so I've cut my calories from around 2400 down to 1800, and I was fine for about a week but now I have no energy, and my workouts are totally sucking! A friend also said to make sure I keep my protein up around 100 grams and get my carbs down to around a100 grams to lose bodyfat and retain…

introducing myself
I joined the group a while back, but I wanted to say hello. I started taking muay thai about a month and a half ago. It's been awesome, and great because it makes me train harder during the week so that I can go harder during class. Love seeing all the MMA enthusiasts here!

red face
Is there a vitamin or food or something I can use to reduce the serious "red face" I get when in class and working out? My face gets so red (and it's hot as hell in the room too) that I look like I have a serious sun burn. about 15 minutes into class and I'm lit up like a Christmas tree. It's embarrassing.
