Current discussion about starvation mode
Here is a link to a current discussion about starvation mode. Parts of the conversation are actually very sad, I haven't replied because honestly I don't have the solid reserach to help convince this individuals who seem very set in their ways of eating around 750 calories a day. However, the most useful are some of the…

Weights for beginners
Hello, Any really easy weight videos/sites you guys recommend for new lifters? I've been using the machine weights and working my way up from the lightest settings (never done weights before!) but from what I've read here and elsewhere, free weights are better. One problem, I have no idea how to use them!

I walk at least 2 miles per day and am at the gym at least 5…

Eating more to look like I weigh less :)
I literally had to go back through my diary to find out when in particular I started eating more. I joined this site in March, and more like everyone else I was eating 1200 calories, which is what MFP recommended and of course I was netting probably between 300-600 calories 6 days a week, but I was able to continue losing…

new hrm & cals burned
So today I tried out my new HRM. It is a PYLE sports model. Anyway, I did elliptical HIIT first then I reset the cals burned to start at 0 for strength. So in 1:05 it said I burned over 836 calories. Is this correct? Should I really believe that? I'm between 236 and 232. I'm 5'4 ad change lol. The HRM has all this info.…

Your fav non-lifting day workout
I just started NROLW on Monday, so tonight is day 2. So I will be lifting weights 3 days a week, every other day. In NROLW he discusses suggested non-lifting workout day exercises. Pretty much it can be anything that is not too strenuous to allow for your muscles to recover. Yesterday I did pilates, which I love. But that…

Logging strength/lifting weights
I am almost done reading The New Rules of Lifting for Women and plan to start my lifting tomorrow evening after I purchase some heavier weighs since I don't have access to a gym (gotta love small towns). Am I doing this right?
OK - my calc came out as: 655 + (9.6 x 59) + (1.8 x 165) - (4.7 x 33) = 1364 I would say my activity level is sedentary (I have an office job where I sit all day but I work out with weights 3 x a week for 30 minutes and cardio twice a week for 40 minutes but currently log this with my HRM values and eat it back) so 1364 x…

Love this!
So glad to have found this group and to learn more about this topic. I have lost 20 pounds in the last three months working out hard but also really restricting my diet and counting calories. I am thinner, stronger, but not as athletic looking as I would like to be. I like a little "meat" if you know what I mean. Thanks so…
