  • @greenolivetree - Thanks for posting that - my KT tape arrives tomorrow!
  • So long as it fits within your calories, no reason not to have it. I love my wine and make room for it often!
  • @rybo @RoxieDawn - Thanks for the feedback! I was confused reading all the material out there - I thought for some reason I had to eat at maintenance right away. My current goal is 1 lb/week so I'll change it to .5 lb/week to make the deficit smaller.
  • @mbaker566 - Sorry to hear about getting stung! That's the worst. Hopefully your leg feels better soon! @Elise4270 - Hang in there! I so admire your attitude while being sidelined - here's to the next few weeks of recovery flying by! @greenolivetree - Ha, I've done that same thing before! Damn morning brain.…
  • 08/01 - 4 miles First run in a week last night and my knees felt okay. I'm experimenting with orthotics and knee straps while I work on building up strength in my hips, glutes and quads. I downloaded You Are Your Own Gym and am going to start doing that 3 days/week along with the stretches my PT gave me. My goal for the…
  • This. I take maintenance breaks when I start to feel unmotivated and they help tremendously.
  • I'm up 5 pounds since last Wednesday because of a long weekend, too. A couple will come off right away (water weight) and I assume the damage is 1-2 pounds of actual gain. I'm not doing anything to "compensate" for the weekend - just getting back to tracking like normal. It'll come off over the next couple weeks and was…
  • This is going to be stuck in my head the rest of day. I'm okay with it.
  • @Elise4270 - Good luck at the smaller pool. ;) I've only taken a week off so far and am already worried about my races in September. I love your attitude about it all - enjoy the swimming! @greenolivetree - I know what you mean. I'm going rogue - no set plan, just going by feel. Hopefully you're able to get back to it…
  • Tonight will be my first run in a week so hopefully my knees start to feel better. I'll go super conservative and have a goal of 40 miles for August, and hopefully be able to ramp up again in September. I have two HMs in September so fingers crossed I'm not losing all of my fitness!
  • 31 here. I began running just over a year ago and am hooked. Went from sedentary to running a marathon in one year! I'm motivated by how running makes me feel - I don't run to achieve weight-related goals. Running is for my mental health and the kitchen is what I use to manage my weight. I recently added barre classes and…
  • @greenolivetree - Thanks for the link! @skippygirlsmom - That evaluation sounds great! My PT did something similar last week but not as extensive. That should definitely help with injury prevention. @Ohhim - Thank you! @kristinegift - Oiselle is my absolute favorite! I love the Flyte tank so much. I have two and they…
  • Definitely begin stretching! And depending on how new to running you are, I'd recommend using a program like Couch 2 5k. It uses run/walk intervals that gradually increase each week to get you to running for 30 minutes straight. If you already have a running base, you could start during one of the later weeks.
  • I love this! My favorite salad recently is hamburger salad. I do a mixture of iceberg/romaine lettuce topped with tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, croutons and ground beef. I mix together mayo (or Miracle Whip) and ketchup for the dressing and it's amazing!
  • @MNLittleFinn - A sub-2 HM is my next running goal, too. My last HM was 2:03 so I'm close! I have two HM in September but with the knee issues I'm having, I won't attempt the sub-2 until later this year. @Elise4270 - Hope your upcoming appointment goes well - September is coming up! @katharmonic - Great job on hitting your…
  • @shanaber - Ha! When the Nordstrom sale started I said I was only going to buy clothes for work, date nights, etc. because I didn't need any more workout clothes. 4 sports bras, 2 tank tops, 1 t-shirt and a pair of leggings later...
  • Do what you love and what will help you achieve your goals. I love to run so that's what I do. I recently started cross-training with some body weight exercises, and that's only because they will help me be a better runner/help prevent injury. And FWIW, I don't progressively lift and I look great naked. ;) ETA: "Good"…
  • @Elise4270 - Browsing the Nordstrom sale and found this: http://tinyurl.com/ha2ptlb Only one color option but not bad for $22!
  • @skippygirlsmom - Thank you! @shanaber - Sounds like the perfect half to do together! My girlfriend just got back into running and we're doing the Lake Chelan Half together in September. We keep texting each other after every run and you're so right - the excitement is contagious! @TattooedDolphinGirl78 - Nordstrom is…
  • @louubelle16 - I think it's a good idea so long as you can trust yourself to actually treat it as a training run. It's so easy once you get there to let your adrenaline take over and push harder than you should. That said, I did races leading up to my marathon and loved them - they eased my nerves for the upcoming marathon…
  • @shanaber - I just noticed you're doing Beat the Blerch in Seattle! I'm so bummed - I signed up for a different half that weekend before I knew about Beat the Blerch so I'm going to miss it. :( I can't wait to see pictures from it, I bet you'll have a blast!
  • @MNLittleFinn @TattooedDolphinGirl78 @lporter229 - Thank you! @Elise4270 - I went running with my boyfriend last night and he didn't want to take his shirt off, either. I was hesitant to do it, too, but realized very quickly that being comfortable is way more important than any insecurity I may have, and that no one is…

  • @_nikkiwolf_ - Thank you! @RespectTheKitty - How early is early? I always do my runs in the morning on the weekend, but a lot of times that isn't until 10am. I'm a slow starter. ;) It's supposed to get to 79 this weekend which is nothing compared to some of you! @TattooedDolphinGirl78 - Amazing progress - you look great!!…

Made it 1.5 miles.…
  • I think I'm in the minority here but I can't stand it. I got cut off multiple times on my run last weekend by people staring down at their phone, walking right in front of me and having zero awareness of their surroundings. I'm all for people being more active, I would just like them to look up every once in a while.
  • I used Hal Higdon and loved it.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow so will…
  • Thanks, I know you're right. And I'm glad PT has been helpful for you, too! I think I just got tired of going - I was going twice a week earlier this year for plantar fasciitis and tendonitis issues. It definitely helped, but was time consuming and costly (about $1000 when all was said and done). Now that I'm going to get…
