  • Yes - for instance, if you eat white rice on its own - then you are subjecting yourself to the load of the white rice. If you eat white rice with a protein and a vegetable, then it's all based upon the weighted average of the foods. It's always based upon the weighted average of all the foods - with variance but it's never…
  • She's right. Right on! We should be friends.
  • I drink water because I am thirsty - I drink a lot of water throughout the day but only when I am thirsty. I actually dislike drinking water just the sake of it - doesn't make sense. Same with food - eat food when you are hungry - but if you are full, why eat food.
  • Real facts from a real site. http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/myths/ Highlights: Myth: If you are overweight or obese, you will eventually develop type 2 diabetes Fact: Being overweight is a risk factor for developing this disease, but other risk factors such as family history, ethnicity and age also play a role.…
  • At the time, no matter how she feels about it now, she was competing as a male, was male through biology, verified as a male, and it matters not what her perspective is of what she felt like she was back when she was male competing in the Olympics. She competed as a fully qualified male at the time and that cannot be…
  • Not sure if it's "killing" kids per se, but the nutritional content cannot be disputed. There's no fiber to mitigate the insulin reaction ingesting the product, unlike fruit which has plenty of sugars but also fiber to assist in digesting the food so that the liver is saved from incineration. Refined carbohydrates are not…
  • Using bread for sandwiches - so the person responded by stating to cut the (refined) carbs (bread) and use the chicken in a different way. Is it related to the original thread - probably not but... what do they call it here, a derail?
  • I have this extreme Char-Crusted Ahi Tuna fetish at Bristol right down the road from me - the inside is a replica of the bar and dining area of the Titanic. It's awesome there. Lunch - Chipotle - but they measure the portions so that's why it's convenient and no GMO on my orders. But that tuna, omg I could eat POUNDS of it.
  • Why does it matter what the threads state. I find it hilarious to downright on-the-floor laughable that people think there are enough experts on the forums to make them more legitimate than a documentary. I have my own issues with the documentary - but on the base level - it's obvious that refined carbs are having a real…
  • Bingo! Great post! :)
  • I have results posted and linked in my profile (and validated by measurements and calipers) - April 30th - ~19% BF - May 30th - 16.7% BF - gained muscle lost fat pounds. I believe without looking that I lost a total of 1 pound between months - but muscle was on the plus side, more fat lost to net the diff. I ate more - I…
  • I think if you eat a whole watermelon it wouldn't matter - wouldn't the watermelon calories be all used up digesting it?
  • or Half/Half - like real cream - not heavy cream - I loved using half/half in baking/cooking when I had my chocolate business.
  • Could do flour in place of the mix (I forget off top of my head what else would be missing by doing that) - add protein powder as well - but yeah the above is really a good minimum. Love the use of whole milk in that - gotta have whole milk in pancakes.
  • If you are looking to retain fiber and reduce starch in doing this, I would not eat potatoes. The best sources in that list are - avocado, dark chocolate, nuts, seeds, the oils, grass-fed butter, salmon. If you are insulin-sensitive, then these are the best options. A large Haas Avocado can run 300 calories easy alone -…
  • Check out my diary. I get upwards to 70gs per day on close to 4K calories. If I have the calories, that's 35gs - but normally when I eat 2K calories, I can still hit 40gs easy. Fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds - I don't need a single grain to achieve a high fiber diet.
  • No. She asked whether it is a good idea to combine Nutrisystem and home cooked meals as part of a dietary program to increase calories towards the MFP goal of 2800 since Nutrisystem on its own is around 1200 calories. Yes you can - but you would be diverting from Nutrisystem's program - not sure if it matters or not - but…
  • Absolutely not! Soda is dumb. There's no nutritional value density wise in the thing - it can cause weight gain, rots teeth, it's sick stuff. I cannot believe there are people on here who espouse drinking soda is fine as long as it fits into your macros. That's BS. Soda is awful stuff. No debate and plenty of evidence -…
  • It's not .8g/# it's .8g/kg lean body mass - which equates to ~.36g/#. The bottom line is that is a minimum. It doesn't matter if you are body building or not (but it is absolutely essential in bodybuilding when teamed with carbs) - it matters from the perspective of retaining muscle mass as you create a deficit - deficits…
  • Totally agree - I am past the deficit stage - I need to build muscle - and if fat comes along, the theory would be that it would be mitigated by the muscle increases - so the % really shouldn't budge that much - that's of course making some assumptions. Agreed man - great post.
  • I went from 35% to ~16%. Once I started tracking body fat, then my whole mentality changed. It's a good way to prepare yourself for strength training and proper nutrition - the scale isn't the only way one can gauge true progress.
  • Eggs and Avocado. Will fill you up - make the eggs in an oil like Ghee - buttery taste without the milk solids. Awesome breakfast for me. Please see my diary.
