Sweet ride.. Soft bags and custom paint.. the best... What kind of forward controls are those? I like the look of the 800's, but after riding a 1500 for so long... I've got to make a decision to move on to another ride or do a top end rebuild this winter though. She's burning more oil than usual, and gaskets are starting…

There are a lot of charts that allow you to cross reference the calorie burns... it makes sense to me that your numbers were off... if you were consistently net negative daily. . Science says you will be losing. Re: Bikes... sweet. My current sled is a 95 Vulcan 1500.

I use this: http://www.scosche.com/rhythm-plus-heart-rate-monitor-armband When I bought it 3 years ago, it was the best deal going for a reasonably accurate HRM, and didn't require a chest strap.. but it uses the phone for recording everything, so there is that to deal with. Not sure what prices are today if it's…

I put mine on sedentary, as my day job has me sitting for 8-10 hours, commute = 2 hours, plus family time often involves 1 hour of TV.. So in my waking hours (about 17 hours of my day), 11 hours or more is spent sitting.. that to me, is sedentary. I try to make up for it with workouts and walks... but the ratio determines…

Thanks for that... helps get a clearer picture of where you are coming from. A quick question for you.. Have you tried resetting your calorie goals when you are at the low point of your weight? I know that my BMR is a lot lower when I am at my lightest vs. my heaviest... and if I don't slowly ratchet down my calories as I…

TL:DR - Measure your chicken while frozen. Freezing meat causes water to form ice crystals.. which cause cell walls to burst, which then leak out their liquid during the thawing process... this the pinkish liquid on the plate left and is mostly water. If you take raw (never frozen chicken), weigh it, then freeze it, thaw…

If you don't mind me joining late.. I'm in as well (love these!)

@PlunderingSteelGorilla Not sure if I should call *kitten* on you, bro.. Looking at your profile, you're down more than 35 lb... that isn't chump change... something you are doing is working, even if it's hard to see right now. Some things that are standing out from your post: *vastly improved fitness* *I would never walk…

Always happy to help - and have a bit of room for a few more friends. Add me if you like!

Thanks to my schedule, I have to get creative with workouts to make it fit... Short story is that I break my workouts into pieces to fit my schedule, and most of my exercise at (or close to) home... Even then I don't always get as much sleep as I like, but I can usually get at least 6.5 - 7.5 hours in. My typical day: Up…

I stop failing to do things when I make them "MUST DO", rather than "want to do".. If I am going to go for something, i want it to be something I get fired up about.... then I get fired up about it, and I make it something that needs to get done.. MUST get done. Make it a passion, because if it's something your passionate…

Great write-up! I come from a style where gloves pads, although not exactly frowned upon (since they are required to keep our insurance!), are kept to a bare minimum (and some higher ranks go without when permissible).. so I had no idea there was so much involved in the design of boxing gloves!

My wife is making my favorite thing... a Bulgarian dish called Яхния (Pronounced "Yahneya") Recipe: http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/chicken/bulgarian-chicken.html This recipe isn't quite right... but will get you close - I would modify this to set aside the chicken after browning, then start by frying the…

I remember putting in 5 yards of soil amendment and 2 yards of topper into my backyard - that's some hard work right there.

I have to agree - love MFP for the results and support, but it does tend to be a bit lopsided in the estrogen department!

It's the beard-y twins. Yeah.. he looks like he'd motivate.

Adding a bunch of ya... Looking to build up some support as well.. Feel free to add me. I've been down this road before, and then let slide a while, and back for some more fun and motivation. :)

I have relatives in Cottonwood. :) Glad to have you here!

I know that feeling! I'm here for round 3 - best so far was 32 lb loss.

Glad he's on the mend! Jump rope could be good too for working on fitness - also strength exercises such as squats, leg lifts, situps, pullups and modified pushups - put the injured foot on top of the good foot - crossed at the ankles (aka 1-foot pushups).. if he isn't up to that yet, he could do them from his knees. Lots…

Glad to have you here! I'm on my 2nd round of MFP - had previously hit my goal then weight started creeping back on again over about 2 years - decided it was time to get back on it before it got too far. Now I'm worried less about weight, more about fitness and BF%.

I know when I first had to actually act on my growing weight issue - it was emotional for me - it was one thing to conceptualize that I needed to do something, but actually acting on it was a kind of acceptance that I wasn't quite ready for, and it was a bit rough... and also, I think some of the denial that I was even…

So glad to hear you are doing something for your health, @trebleclef_rebel ! You are not only choosing to recognize the problem, but to act on it too, and that is a fantastic first step. Have you considered counseling? There are specialists who help people with exactly this problem and can probably help guide you through…

Agreed! I had no idea how much of a soul search this would be, and you made me realize that a huge part of my life - one of the defining things of how I see my self - is due to the shaping that these type of events cause. It is a little disturbing.

Thank you for sharing this @bri170lb ! You could replace "chubby kid" with "awkward skinny kid" and it's my childhood almost word for word. For many years I have completely avoided most mainstream sports for this same reason. I now practice basketball with my daughter - to support her in the sport - and had to literally…

Congratulations on making the effort! Celebrate it - because this effort is what will take you to your goals... You have some really great advice above on how to deal with the hunger. Take it to heart, and keep trying new foods until you find ones that can keep you in your goals for the day without leaving you feeling…
