  • Lol! My uncle's brother is legit big and tall. 6'6 and ~300 lb. He also frequently wears a shirt that says, "I have the body of a god...Unfortunately it's a Buddha!" My dad also refers to himself as a manly apple. He's quite like a sphere with thin legs! Sorry to derail this post!
  • Yeah try re adding it! I used to use an Apple Watch and it would automatically sync my active calories with it. My MFP calorie total at the end of the day was +/- 100 each day based on my Apple Watch.
  • If you already "know" your body fat percentage, why did you ask?
  • I barely know anything about physique shows. However, I do have a lot of tattoos. I've spoken with a few people who have done those shows in the past and they told me that tattoos are generally frowned upon in them. However, those people could be completely wrong! I have no idea. Sorry I can't be of more help!
  • Eh, I don't know what else I can say that hasn't already been said. You're fine. Who the hell cares what others classify you as? Everyone has different interpretations of what curvy, thin, stick, athletic etc means. I've been called manly, athletic, slim, etc all with my current body. I've also been told I need to cut down…
  • I definitely have. For a good amount of my adult life, I was roughly the same weight and didn't feel very nit picky about it. I gained weight pretty quick, but then lost it again. I'm probably in the best shape of my life now and I still get a lot more self conscious than I was back then. I figured it was due to my…
  • I've used that link before. I feel like it's pretty forgiving. Who knows though. It says I'm 20.7% bf. That'd be lovely if it were true. However, I will say this. Even if it spit out 30% body fat, I will still have the same body today. I am happy with my body so it wouldn't matter in reality. It just really does show how…
  • Lol! I don't know why but the way the author wrote that was pretty funny to me! "We predict what your body fat would be if we were to kill you, slice off all your body fat and weigh it." Quite morbid, but humorous to me!
  • Right? I've always been curious of DEXA scans. But I can bet I'd be sorely disappointed at my results!
  • Agreed! I'm 5'4.5, 130 lb and female. I lose weight eating 2000 calories (TDEE method). Up your calories. Weight loss may be quicker at 1200 calories but you'll lose much more muscle that way. Lift heavy, eat at a moderate deficit. You'll do great!
  • Wait... What am I missing here? Where did you get the 150 minimum from? Because you're 38% body fat now? Maybe I'm reading it wrong or math stuff. 150 is at the very top of healthy range for your height (based on bmi). It could be a point into overweight, I can't remember. Try to get to 150 and evaluate from there!
  • I gained weight pretty quickly in the past and as a result, could really feel the weight slowing me down. It was a strange feeling to me. I started losing weight partly because of that feeling. I began lifting at the same time. Now I'm back down to my normal weight and it feels like I can move freely. It's hard to explain…
  • Agreed. It is called my FITNESS pal. Not my CALORIE pal. There's another calorie counting app/website called CALORIEcount. I can definitely see that one being dubbed a calorie counting website. I counted calories to lose weight. Without counting, my weight loss is very slow. But I don't count when maintaining. I just eat…
  • Hmm. My appetite is definitely lower on my cardio days. On my lifting days, I could eat an entire cow it feels like!
  • I'm Bipolar 1. I'm medicated which definitely helps a great amount. However, I definitely feel much much better with regular exercise and a decent nights sleep. The medication and exercise definitely keep me more balanced!
  • Agreed. I live in Chicago and have gone to many different restaurants with small portions. However, of course we have chains like Friday's, Cheesecake Factory etc which have huge portions. But that's typical for anywhere those restaurants are!
  • You're fine. Eating Mexican food at a restaurant? That's got to have a lot of sodium. It's just water retention! Just keep on track!
  • Tell me about it. I remember another woman ate nothing but potatoes.
  • This. I think it's a bit normal. May not to the extent of intense anger. I guess I'd say agitation. I know if there's some people hogging benches at my gym, I throw a mental hissy fit. Last week, my headphones broke. That was another huff puff fest in my head.
  • Oh goodness. That sounds really familiar. Was that show called My Strange Addiction?
  • I'd also like to thank big pharma for abilify and lamotrigine. Without them, I'd likely be dead from walking in a busy street proclaiming I'm God and cannot die! Darn that big pharma for ridding me of my manic delusions!
  • I actually just watched an episode randomly. I've never seen it before. It was the episode shortly after she passed out because of her heart. She was talking about how she can do anything that "normal" people can do. She then went skiing. When she stood up, she almost immediately collapsed in pain and screaming. Her…
  • This is very true. My sister has Crohn's and when it's not well controlled, she loses a TON of weight. People who don't know about the Crohn's compliment her all the time when that happens. The compliments actually really bother her. She actually has an arsenal of clothes ranging from size 0 to size 12 (she bloats like no…
  • I've heard that smoking SLIGHTLY speeds up your metabolism. I mean, maybe 100 calories at most. I wouldn't say the quitting smoking has caused you to gain weight. Something else has to be off. A little bit of snacking when you get cravings and not accounting for it possibly.
  • Just like your username, its water weight!
  • Why is it so trendy? I understand it has a lot of nutrients but yuck! If you watch parks and rec, it reminds me of the people at the farmers market trying to sell chard. They had all the "sexy dancers" and turned the farmers market into a dance club because that's the only way they could sell the nasty chard!
  • I can totally relate to the grabbing beers in the evening. I live with my boyfriend and we tend to do that. We just moved into a new larger apartment, so he decided to get a mini fridge for the living room to stock with beer! Oh boy! Yeah! I'd say definitely try the dark beer thing with your roommates. Work it into your…
  • It does sound a bit slim for someone of that height. However, your ex may have a lot more muscle mass than OP. It just depends. I don't know if 160 is near the low end of healthy or not. I didn't look that up. I will say, my boyfriend is 6'3 and about 205. He doesn't have much muscle! So he does have a bit of a belly. I…
  • I worked in the restaurant industry for about 8 years. I didn't really watch what I ate or drank during that time. I just worked out every so often and made a half assed effort to watch what I was eating. That was a few years ago. I gained and lost weight since then. However, my boyfriend does manage a wine and cheese bar…
