I often have a bar when I’m training under the bar.

Curious, in how short of a duration should it take? And once you “get there,” then what? Quit?

I reached 48 just a few weeks ago , and truthfully, I feel as I have very little in common with my peers of relative age. When I look at the kids I went to school with and on the off chance I bump into one of them, they look sooooo old. And they move like it too, or have so many health problems because of diet or lack of…

I purposely skip calf training so I can wear tighter knee sleeves. All the calf development I have is from skateboarding. Skate or die (small).

In my home gym, I have free weights (about 800 lbs of cast iron weight plates and pairs of dumbbells from 5 to 70 lbs) and several barbells, and a cable machine. Each has its purpose in my gym.

Belts are a matter of personal preference. I personally like my Inzer Forever lever belt for reasons, others will recommend single or double prong. As far as width of the belt, that will depend what your midsection and perhaps what the size of your lats are like. For me, I have a relatively narrow waist and decent taper in…

Your not totally wrong. The extra work will burn more calories and could lead to a deficit in calories and maybe minor weight loss. Btw, I’m totally having pancakes for breakfast tomorrow .

Recently I had to take a factory job to make ends meet. 12 hour days on my feet three days in a row, and the following week 4 days on my feet in a row bending, packing, and picking things up for 36-48 hours a week. In addition, I trained in the gym 4 days a week for two hours for an average total of 8 hours of exercise a…

I stand corrected. Have fun storming the castle.

Often, people will post that their laundry exercise, or their vacuuming, or their lawn mowing, but this is a new one. While you will be doing strenuous work it is not exercise since there is no specific adaption to be made from the work that you will be doing. (Get stronger, faster etc.) Best it will do is raise your NEAT…

Now I’ve read everything.

You’re a little short on cleaning days.

Happy progress and good luck!

Usual reason given for less volume on deadlifts for the novice is fatigue. Not sure I buy it, but thats the prevailing wisdom.

Its not possible to make your home exercise.

I have five 1/2” rubber stall mats I got for free because one of the local Crossfit gyms moved and was tossing them. I took home a huge stack of 3/4” pieces and built blocks and placed in other areas of my basement. Yep, that was free too. Lol

3/4" stall horse stall mats from Tractor Supply. 3'x6' around $42 a piece.

Yes, 5x5 PL is a tried and tested program to build strength for the novice.

I say give it a go. You're a month in the gym, WTH, good time to experiment. None of these movements are really that difficult, with perhaps the Squat, Close Grip BP and the Press. But if you have no ambition to compete as powerlifter, get very strong, etc, then form is only as crucial as too not get injured. However, for…

Over the years, I've surrounded myself with likewise individuals. Those friends who are hostile are either unfollowed/restricted/hidden or banhammered. I have no time for jerks. On FB I made a separate page for fitness related posts, where friends/acquaintances can follow my progress in powerlifting, or ignore me. I use IG…

I’ve used it when I’ve run out Goat tape on my thumbs for when I hook. Works okay, but not recommended.

Awww... you want use my chair when I’m done with it?

This reminds me of the argument with this kid I used to work with a few years ago. He claimed that his 180kg deadlift, not touching the floor, on a Smith machine —with springs —was (kid you not) “basically the same” as my 180kg conventional deadlift from the floor. I asked him to train with me someday and prove it. He was…

My poor destroyed, ligaments that can support two-and-quarter times my bodyweight. Just crushed.
