I think most kids have phases. Mine was very picky. He'd have phases where he just would accept one thing; just hot dogs, just chicken nuggets, etc. He still, at 22, hates virtually all vegetables. When he was 4 he went 3 days without supper, rather than take a single bite of mashed potatoes. He likes them now - but he was…

To tell on myself... There is a proper way to eat certain items. Chips, crackers, fries, etc...should be eaten so that the most "perfect" specimen is last. Small broken pieces first, then larger and more intact, etc., until the most perfect ones remain, which are also eaten in that manner until only the #1 perfect specimen…

I think this is the sort of thing the OP was asking for: I have a friend who is so funny with her diet. Watching her order food is like "When Harry Met Sally"; everything is on the side and leave this off and add that. And her food must be HOT. Not spice - temperature. She doesn't care if she gets fries 15 minutes before…

Got to disagree. There are a LOT of things I want to do...I'd LOVE to do...but I have responsibilities. I have family. I have bills and I don't have much money in the bank. I don't have the money or the ability to just drop everything and go off somewhere...not if I didn't want to starve during my adventure and then be…

Don't know if you want to hear from someone still fat and not even good in their heads...but I once took a "beginning yoga" class. It wasn't my usual beginning yoga class; different instructor at different time of day. After about 10 minutes of trying to get into this weird pose, the instructor came up and I said, "I'm…

Each to their own...I find anything less than 1 cup of ice cream to be a tease, weighed out or not. My husband is of the opinion that it should be in it's own food group and eaten accordingly.

Virtually every morning, "I can do this." When I really don't want to get out of bed and exercise, "I don't want to be D." (A very dear lady who was very large and died too soon. :'( )

Baking your own bread - how does that differ from store bought? I mean, I bake and I've baked bread - I love it. But I can't get my calories per slice down any lower than store bought and it tastes so darn much better I want it more! What do you do differently? I think the number of calories in FLOUR is just shocking! 455…

Okay...Please don't take this wrong. I'm totally not being a smart-*kitten* because it happened to my sister-in-law, who couldn't figure out why she was getting bigger for months...are you 100% certain you're not pregnant?
-
I think it's shocking that anyone considers half a cup of ice cream to be an adequate serving size! :'(

That's always a good feeling, isn't it?

Amazing and so inspiring! I'm 53 myself - 54 in 3 months - and started losing in March at 305. Sadly, this is my second go-around. I lost 100 lbs back in about 2008 but gained most of it back. :( Unlike you, I've never been a normal weight - so I just have to imagine what that would be like. Like you I'm larger framed too.…

There are tons of "heart conditions" and they don't all matter with respect to riding a roller coaster. I have a heart arrhythmia and a aortic valve murmur. The arrhythmia goes away with exercise and the murmur is practically unnoticeable. I can certainly do anything I want to do. Likewise, if the condition was treated and…

Oh. My. Yes. There's a middle eastern market in the college town 30 minutes away that has the BEST baklava. Truly inspirational. My husband and I used to get it every single time we went to that town. The owner knows us on sight and when he sees us walking up, bags up some baklava. We haven't had any in months. :'(

Pardon my math - I even used a calculator. :/ With that, the obligatory Diet Coke. (I like the taste better! ;) )

Where do you buy buns that high? A Kaiser Roll is like 180.

To be honest...the thing that shocks me the most is how much I used to eat - both in calories and volume - just a few months ago. And it was my second go-round - so I KNEW. What the heck was that? Dairy Queen dinner double cheeseburgers - 580 calories 1 large onion rings - 360 1 medium Blizzard - 1050 1,666 calories in ONE…

I must be reading this wrong. Those aren't seriously $24/ a package? I mean, it says 1 package, but that must be a case or something, right? Edit: Okay...now I see it's a pack of 6 packages and each package has 8 tortillas, so it's 48 tortillas...Much better. lol

Anything sold in a restaurant, especially fast food. Yes, I know that I should expect it. But how the heck do you make a chicken sandwich or a salad have 1,000 calories? Biggest one lately though, has been money mustard salad dressing. At home I always buy the light versions. I love it. It's the only one I ever order if…

You don't see that? I see quite a large difference! You're doing very well! Keep up the good work.

I am constantly surprised when I see a photo. Somehow, I always think I am slimmer than I am...even a mirror doesn't really show my brain what my body looks like. I see other women my size and I'm just SURE I'm not that big. I did take "before" shots. I was frankly horrified. I try to remember to look at them weekly and…

I have a heart arrhythmia - I skip beats - and am on 3 - that's right - 3 blood pressure meds. The arrhythmia isn't noticeable to me, but it gives nurses quite a start when they try to take my pulse. I never tell them in advance, just to watch their faces. It's not dangerous. I had a stress test a few years ago…

I could eat a whole lot of apple's for the calories in a double cheeseburger, large onion rings, and a midnight truffle blizzard.

Good points. FOR ME it's most definitely HAS TO BE a lifestyle change - for the reasons mentioned. I'm somewhat horrified when I think of the amount of calories I was previously putting in my body on a regular basis. And it HAS to be a permanent change. Because I've done it before...and opposite of what you did, I regained…

I don't think it's irrational at all. Granted, I get a lot more calories than you...but I get very frustrated that my husband gets so many more calories than me. In my defense, we're the same height and I actually weigh more (which sucks) so one would think we'd get about the same. But he also is more active simply by the…

Please! Try wearing a size 12/13! I literally can't find shoes except on line, which is a p.i.t.a. and at Payless. I buy them, wear them until they fall apart since they're cheap crap, then buy more. My walking shoes are MEN'S Nike's! I got them in a 10 1/2 and they're actually a tiny bit short...but I just flatly refuse…

I'll give you the last three points, but don't think I can agree with the first. I've had a lot of experience with frozen dairy products - and have the rotund shape to prove it ;) - and I think I have to give the crown to Ted Drewes. I've had good ice cream, frozen yogurt and frozen custard (not comparing gelato as I've…

Oh yeah...from the shop. We were in St. Louis on vacation had lunch at Amighetti's and went to Ted Drewes for dessert - totally to see what all the fuss was about. I had a Dutchman, I believe. Yes, my calories were exceeded. No. I did not care. After we were done he bought a quart of chocolate and one of vanilla, they put…
