You may be fat, but they are the ones who are ugly. You can lose weight. They will always be ugly...because it's in them, not on them. I'm so sorry you went through that. You should be PROUD that you finished your walk. You go right back out there tomorrow and the next day and the next day. Don't let the ugly people ruin…

You know guys, I'm 53 years old. I've been cooking for myself for 40 years. I always thought that the proper measurement for pasta was 2 oz dry and that would make 1 cup cooked and that, in my experience, has been close. Works better with spaghetti than anything else. I've never even considered weighing 1 serving of cooked…

What? You don't think this is me? :p

I'm wearing pants today from the back of my closet. I'd forgotten I'd even put them there! I don't know why I quit wearing them...but I'm sure it was because they were snug. They're perfect now. I also pulled out a pair of dressy jeans I KNOW I quit wearing because they were too tight. They're still too snug for…

It exists. What my husband and I have - it's real. Well, okay, I can only speak for myself...but I believe he feels the same way. I feel as though he is truly my soul-mate, my missing piece. It's a feeling of completeness and contentment that you really can't explain. We met later in life, in our very late 30's, so it…

Surgery couldn't fix you because it's not a "fix". It's a tool that you weren't ready to use at the time. You ARE ready now - and you can and will fix yourself! :) You can do this! It's not easy and it's not fast - but BELIEVE ME - it's even harder when you're older - and I'm twice your age! We have a LOT in common! I'm 53…

I think the shopping suggestion is fantastic. Literally, pick up a big bag of pre-made salad and other veggies, the salad dressing you use, etc. Before you leave your own house, pack a cooler with such items. Then you won't have to run out and shop all the time, but you have some things already prepared or ready to make.…

I eat after, but I do so mostly because I can then sit in my (locked) office and cool down and quit sweating before changing back into my work-clothes. I do enough of a walk to work up a sweat. If I didn't have the privacy of an office with a door, it wouldn't really matter as much, but I'd still prefer to eat after,…

It only works if I do it from the website. It won't work from the App. Not sure what that's all about.

So funny....I have a recipe for Kentucky Butter Cake in my recipe box here on MFP. That and Baklava Pie. Like I'll ever make them again with the calories they are. Most things I can manage to trim the calories from, but I love pastries and you just can't trim enough calories from those.

Right now, officially, twice a week. At the Y on Sunday, after breakfast, coffee and a snack, and fully dressed, at noon. Then again at home on Wednesday. After my workout in the morning, and after 20 oz of water, undies only. Today I actually weighed before drinking and working out and was 2 lbs down from last…

What an amazing post! Thanks for putting your story and your photos up. Very inspiring to an old fatty like me. I'm so very impressed by you.

My husband is overweight too, but never as large as me. We married later in life - in our late 30's. In our whole marriage, I think I've weighed less than him once...I'd lost 100 lbs, he lost 50. We both gained almost 100% of it back and are starting over. We were both overweight when we met and when we married. I love him…

NYMama - Welcome and Happy Birthday! Get cupcakes - and only enough for you and the kids to each eat one. Buy a pint of ice cream - which is 4 servings. If you don't buy enough for left-overs, you won't have it to tempt you. 150 oz a day of water is a TON! Seriously, I do good to get in 10 cups that that's almost 19.…

This is what we drink. I have some right now in fact. :) I especially like the Crystal Light Blackberry Lemonade. You can make it as weak or as strong as you like. They're also good for flavoring tea.

My husband pointed out that his had changed. I still have the old one. Not sure why...we have the same model.

This is not an original recipe, I got the original at: http://www.thespicekitrecipes.com/easy-indian-chicken-korma/ This is my version. I love Indian food. But, with all the coconut milk and yogurt and cream, it's ridiculously high in saturated fat! My version drops the original, which I think had 15 grams of saturated…

Wouldn't it be fairly accurate though? Wouldn't a fitbit GPS logged workout showing say, a mile in 19 minutes, wouldn't it then have the stride length fairly accurate? I tried manually setting my stride length, but I must have done the math wrong somehow. My stride length was some crazy number, so I figured the automatic…

Every morning when I get up and put on my work-out clothes and get on my elliptical, instead of hitting the snooze and rolling over for 9 more minutes of precious sleep, is a victory. I really love sleeping. This weekend I went for an accidental 2 1/2 - 3 mile hike. My husband and I were at a local state park and we…

I don't recall 100%...but I think it did have the same effect.

Not sure what any of that had to do with what I said. But maybe that's me. I didn't originally manually enter a workout. I turned it on manually to record the workout...but it acted like it hadn't, so THEN I entered the workout manually only to delete it when it finally showed up (as an elliptical). When I say it deducted…

Since posting this thread, I have simply decided to quit putting exercise in the MFP records. I'd rather eat less anyway, though I don't think that actually changes overall. What I see is still odd, but it's obvious that MFP was changing something. Today, 6:25AM Elliptical 594 (steps) 0.22 miles 20:13 262 cals Apr 6,…

Of course. I had a good day yesterday at work, left a bit early for a doctor appt., got frustrated shopping. Went home and mood was okay, not too upset about anything. Spent 10 minutes putting stuff up and then sat on my bed and wanted to cry and just give up. Why? I thought my husband was in a bad mood. He wasn't, I just…

You may have to just run to the Y every day and use the track after work, and don't do more than a mile slowly...just enough to warm up for the strength training. (Wife here. )

That's not my math. I didn't do any math. Those are the numbers that showed up, period. I assumed the additional steps that are not included in the workouts account for the fact that the two workouts do not equal the adjustment. No, I didn't. I know you have to have the right start times and durations and so I put Fitbit…

First, thanks for your response! Where are you getting 200+ calories per minute in those figures? On 4/3 I showed 14 minutes of fat burn and 2 mintutes of cardio, the other 4 minutes not recorded (two low) On 4/4 I showed 18 minutes of fat burn and 1 minute of cardio - 1 minute too low to show. So I only had one minute of…

Yesterday I experimented with ONLY Fitbit for my exercise adjustment and NOT inputting the exercise on MFP. I was careful to do virtually the same workouts - 20 minutes elliptical and 1 mile walk. I even walked the same route. In the end, I had about 300 more overall steps. Here are the results of my experiment. When I did…

Actually, let me clarify further - the higher ones, Sunday and Monday, I had ALSO put into MFP. Today's I had NOT input in MFP. Is it possible that the MFP adjustment (408 for 20 minutes and 203 for 10 minutes) makes the Fitbit adjust UP? I had thought, since Fitbit takes more into consideration, like heartrate (I have a…

Let me clarify...it's really the April 2 one that has me stumped. How, if I went half the time, with no higher average heart rate, did it have me going twice as far and burning as many calories, and twice the steps? But also, what's with the 14 minutes of fat burn and 2 minutes of cardio giving me 402 calories over 18…

I originally had a Jawbone. I really liked it at first and it actually has a better app than fitbit in my opinion. I thought I'd like it better because it had a battery and I wouldn't have to bother recharging all the time. Also, it was cheap and I wanted to be sure I'd wear it before I spent a lot of money. Then the…
