  • I find coffee helps curb my hunger. Otherwise just do stuff to distract yourself.
  • Took me 25 years of daily head aches and once a week migraines to figure out that aspartame was causing it all. Since cutting that out they are very very few and far between now. If I have even half a can of diet pop the next morning I have a migrain. I would defiantly look into food triggers. Birth control pills was…
  • I work in nuclear medicine and I can't even begin to tell you how many times people have had x-ray after x-ray after x-ray which have shown no bony abnormality despite them being in a substantial amount of pain. Then their doctor finally sends them to us for a bone scan and sure enough they have a fracture. Ask for a…
  • I bought a keurig for on my office which I absolutely love and we have a keurig at home for everyday use and a Bunn brand coffee machine. While it is a 12 cup pot and it isn't programmable you don't have to make the full 12 cups and even if you do make 12 cups it take only 3 minutes for it to brew 12 cups so it would take…
  • I have had at least 1 bout of tonsillitis a year for the last 20 years or so and I don't know about u but between the swollen painful tonsils, aching ears, high fever and aching body I couldn't work out even if I wanted to and working out is the furthest thing from my mind when tonsillitis strikes. Do your body a favor and…
  • @peleroja - it's great to get info from a fellow prairie dweller. These winters are brutal and the thought of running in that or in the pitch black is a little off putting but I also really enjoy running so I'm not sure how to tackle this. In my minds eye in have visions of myself finally being able to run miles and miles…
  • The bakery in my town does a long John topped with caramel icing and toasted coconut.....amazing!
  • @questionfear - you hit the nail on the head, it was super gritty like having sand in my beloved oatmeal lol. I am not vegan or allergic to milk I only tried it cuz it was free.
  • @RodaRose - I have tried the whole raw seeds and really liked them so I thought the hemp protein powder would be good, but turns outs it's disgusting lol. Good thing it was a free sample.
  • This year I'm growing tomatoes, beets, carrots, peas, cucumbers, zucchini and corn. Out of all of that the beets are my favorite. Tons of nutrients and absolutely delicious roasted or shaved thin and tossed in salad. We also have cherry bushes and honeyberry bushes in our yard.
  • @Alluminati - no don't get me wrong, I'm in no way blaming MFPers. I'm just saying I tried it and realized it wasn't for me. That's all. Everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes and I discovered this is one of mine
  • What about just good quality semi sweet chocolate chips or semi sweet baker's chocolate. Not too sweet and not too bitter while still being nice and chocolatey
  • Good to know I'm not alone, the whole "not suffering enough to lose weight" or "I must not be logging right" definitely goes through my mind any time I feel full.
  • I have a polar FT7 and it's great in the water.
  • Used to suffer from migraines all the time..3 things that help keep them at bay are 1) no aspartame. If I have a can of diet soda the next morning I have a migraine, 2) no birth control pills. After I had my first child I went on birth control and literally had a migraine every single day. Saw an obgyn and she said that…
  • Just to clear a few things up, we routinely message back and forth throughout the day and with our work messenger system u can tell when someone looks at your message etc. At the end of my message to her politely declining and explaining why I had asked her a couple work related questions. I know she looked at my message…
  • Thanks everyone. I messaged her again and apologized again. I work closely with her despite being in separate hospitals so I don't want to have an awkward working relationship with her over cookies but I'm not willing to cave either. We'll see I guess.
  • I don't know how true this is but that happens to one of my coworkers when she eats raw conventionally grown celery but she is able to eat raw organically grown celery without any issues.
  • Sadly most doctors know nothing of nutrition. What he is telling you to do is highly unhealthy and u are right in thinking that you will be starving yourself which in turn will lead you to at one point just binge and gain more weight. Personally I would find another doctor. Also, exercise makes you fit, a calorie deficit…
  • Try adding a little cocoa powder to the mix to get chocolate peanut butter yogurt. Amazing!
  • Aspartame is a huge migraine trigger for me and a lot of other people too.
  • Probably my favorite to dip fries in is mayo....soon good. Obviously not good for my waistline or health so I don't do it anymore but man is it ever good. Honey dill sauce is great too
  • Definitely not looking to run a marathon though I would love to run once I get down to a healthier weight. I guess "is it enough" would mean is what im doing enough to start on my way to getting more fit? I also just wanna get the exercise bug, to where I can add in longer/more exercise and love it and look forward to it…
  • My sister has been anemic for quite a while and she would have very heavy flow periods which would make it worse. The doctors just kept giving her iron pills which were not working. Two years ago it got so bad she was fainting alot. she was put on massive doses of iron and getting iron shots. One emergency department…
  • I too have spent years being exhausted despite adequate sleep and perfectly normal blood work. As a last ditch effort my doctor finally tested my parathyroid hormone levels. Turns out that they are high. She is testing me again in 6 months to see if they go any higher and we will go from there but at this moment it looks…
  • Me personally I don't use Mio but my sister in law is a huge fan of putting whatever flavor of Mio she wants into her water and then adding Vodka to it. She says it's delicious and keeps the drink calories down.
  • Try 1/2 cup plain yogurt (I like to use Greek but any plain yogurt will work) mixed with 1 tbsp liquid honey, 1 tbsp peanut butter and 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder. Soooooo delis!
  • Nope I don't have one! I just measure things in cups and tablespoons. [/quote You should get one. You'd be amazed at how inaccurate measuring cups are when it comes to measuring your food.as another poster said this could be why you feel you can't lose weight eating rice, pasta etc.
  • I have a 6 inch turkey and ham from subway on plain Italian bread with cheese and just about all the veggies and light mayo every Friday. Comes in at 400 calories. Fits in my day and I enjoy it. Hasn't affected my loss yet. It's all about a deficit when it comes to losing weight.
  • Why are those things the only things you're eating? You can eat WHATEVER you want and lose weight as long as you are in a deficit. Fruit is healthy and nutritious and as long as you don't have reason to limit it (diabetes) then there is NO reason to limit or eliminate fruit from your diet. Pay attention to other macros…
