  • I am resistant to insulin so I cannot have sugar. Other people can have sugar but it's just not for me. In my original post I was commenting on the fact that people say sugar in fruit is different than the sugar in candy. Sugar is sugar, it doesn't matter where it came from.
  • I just prefer my calories come from meat or vegetables, not cake or cookies. If I could be that person who stays skinny no matter what they eat, I would eat ALL THE COOKIES! Unfortunately, sugar causes my blood sugar to rise and I am insulin resistant because of my PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). This causes a bunch…
  • Actually, that's exactly what I'm saying. Cake has no nutrional value and is full of sugar.
  • @senecarr Don't feed the trolls ;)

  • @astrampe Well, one could argue that since someone wouldn't recommend eating a couple teaspoons of sugar then maybe we shouldn't eat fruits which also may contain a ridiculous amount of sugar. For example...1 apple contains 19g of sugar. That equals 4.75 tsps of sugar. No thanks!
  • @ManiacalLaugh That really unfortunate that your roommate had such a difficult time on keto. Sounds like he didn't have much support or information on how to do it safely. For the keto flu I would have recommended Lite Salt and a magnesium supplement. No one should feel that way even if we know it's temporary. There are…
  • I wouldn't call keto extreme haha but yes, I believe it can really help in many aspects, not just weight loss. Just remember the keto sticks only really work to help you determine if you are getting into ketosis. After awhile you body gets better at burning ketones and stop expelling them in your urine, You might test in a…

  • 2lbs a week is the max amount you should be losing so 8lbs a month is perfectly fine. Anything over that I would adjust my calorie intake.
  • Try this. http://www.mortonsalt.com/for-your-home/culinary-salts/food-salts/3/morton-lite-salt-mixture/
  • Red meat for iron and avocados for fiber. I also take a magnesium supplement and go heavy with my salt. I'm also going to buy some lite salt http://www.mortonsalt.com/for-your-home/culinary-salts/food-salts/3/morton-lite-salt-mixture/ to get in more potassium. That way I don't have to eat banana and all that crummy sugar…

  • If you are not getting enough protein and cutting carbs at the same time, yes, it is possible that you are losing muscle mass. Go to this website to calculate your appropriate protein goal since you are cutting your carbs http://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ . You are technically following a ketogenic diet when you start…
  • Total myth. Calories in = Calories out.
  • They have cheap ones on Amazon.com!
  • 130g of carbs would not be in line with the diet you are asking about. If you want most of your calories to come from fat then the calories from carbs need to be reduced. if you do not want to go as extreme as 20 NET carbs i suggest at least staying below 100. This website can help you find the correct macros.…
  • First of all, I'm honestly surprised at all the the support stemming from the MFP community since they are notorious for slamming low carb diets into the dirt. With that said, be careful with what is said here and make sure to do your own research before making any commitments. You say High Fat but I just want to make it…
  • I don't think low fat versions of anything is going to do any good. Low Fat = High Sugar. If you are watching your weight, I highly doubt you would want to eat a bunch of foods that are full of added sugar.
