I did eat different. I tried to eat a well balanced meal, starting off at 1200 calories per day. I ate fruit, veggies, protein and tried to choose the right carbs (whole grain breads & pasta, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, corn, beans). I workout most weeks 5 days a week - 2 strength, 2 running (only walking the first 9…

Thank you all for the encouragement. Thanks for the comments on my arms. My son has been helping me the last 3.5 months to tone and strengthen so I have to give him credit for the arms. It's been fun and surprising to see how much size/fat I lost all over my body even though I didn't lose weight the last 3 months by adding…

I told my son when I'm strong enough to do 3 unassisted pull-ups, I want he and I to do a Tough Mudder or Spartan or some kind of obstacle race together. In the last 3.5 months I've gone from not being able to do even one to being able to do 2. Hoping #3 happens in the next 2 months.

Thanks, everyone! I started out eating 1200 calories a day (eventually upped it to 1400 because 1200 just wasn't enough). I strength train twice a week with weights but not heavy, run twice a week (although I walked -no running- for the first 9 months), and I do a HIIT Tabata (cardio & strength combined) style workout once…

You don't need a lot of equipment. I recently bought two books that have helped me with working out at home. " 100 No Equipment Exercise Routines" and "Tabata Workout Handbook" I do have 3, 5, & 8 lb dumbells at home plus 5, 10, & 20 lb kettle bells that I will incorporate sometimes. Here's links to the books I got if…

I think I originally saw this quote on My Fitness Pal and loved it. "Living Healthfully isn't a single challenge, but many small challenges that add up to big advantages." All the small things we choose to do each day really do make a big impact on our overall health and fitness. Last night (even though it was late and I…

I made these Crockpot Italian Sloppy Joes last week. I cooked the sausage and put everything together ahead of time and put it in the freezer. Then on meal day just put it in the crockpot and came back home to a yummy smelling house. http://www.skinnytaste.com/2013/01/crock-pot-italian-sloppy-joe.html

I've loved reading this thread! So many things I can relate too. I had to laugh when I read about the struggles of shaving your under arms. I've been fighting that same battle but it never occurred to me that it was because of my 50 lb weight loss until reading it here. My most exciting, unexpected change has been the…
