  • I have a VivoSmart HR+. I have only had it for a couple of weeks, so haven't really found a favorite feature yet.
  • Hi, I'm Greg. I joined the group, but I don't know that I'll be doing the T25 program. I tend to do some of the workouts from various programs. I do some of the T25 workouts, but I try to run when I can. I also do some of the P90X3 workouts. Last year I ran through the Alpha section. I did a couple of the Beta. I tend to…
  • I wasn't in the January challenge, so I started today. Jan 30 - 2 minutes side plank (1 min, 35 sec, 25 sec)
  • Yes, Quaker rolled oats. Making it the previous day also makes sure the chia fully hydrate.
  • I may give the Mocha a shot. I'm not a big peppermint fan, it's ok on occasion.
  • I don't do any sort of cheat day. That's why MFP works for me. I eat what I want to eat. I just need to fit it into my caloric goals.
  • My typical smoothie is: fruit Chia Greek yogurt Spinach Oats I usually make it the night before. I leave the house at 5:30 and can't be running a blender at that time.
  • I don't like exercising with anyone else. I understand the draw of it for others, but I'm the same mindset as you. I'm a slow runner, so I always feel that I'm keeping them from running the speed they want to go. I also like to get it done.
  • Lots of weight benches available on Craigslist. If you want new, check out Groupon. Just last week I saw a Groupon for a Golds Gym weight bench for $59, I think. I don't know if it's any good or not. But I like jjpptt2's advice, a weight bench and dumbbells will cover a lot of what you'll want to do.

  • Good luck and congrats on getting started. There's a Lose 5 lbs in February challenge thread down in the challenge board. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10508170/lose-5lbs-in-february/p1
  • I'm in. I set a calendar entry to give me a notification to do them. I'm a beginner, so sticking to the 60 minutes and "regular" forearm planks at the moment.
  • Starting weight: 191 Current weight: 190.4 February goal: 186 Ultimate goal: 170 Weigh in day Monday
  • Wow, that's a lot of powders. What's the benefit of those?
  • Could be that you are taking off some fat and building muscle.
  • The portion sizes drive me nuts. I feel that anything that's packaged to be sold from a vending machine needs to be labeled as 1 serving. That's what it is, A SINGLE SERVING. Now if they want to put 1 serving as something other than the entire package, then it also needs to have an amount for the entire package as well.
  • Thanks. I have to keep reminding me that I'm no 20 anymore, I'm 49. I have to force myself not to push myself too hard since that's always led to injury in the past. But I'm getting there, slowly but surely.
  • Don't let yourself get scared by all the information. Just get started and don't worry about all the opposing information you will find.
  • That's the fun time. Kids in that age range are a lot of fun. I miss those days. My kids are 13 and 18. Pay attention, you'll blink and they will be graduating high school You have a great opportunity to teach them how to eat right and take care of themselves. They will see daddy doing it at those formative years and it…
  • I dipped for about 15 years. When my son was born, I decided to quit. That was 18 years ago. It's incredibly difficult to quit. I don't have cravings often, but when I drive on a long trip, I have intense cravings to get a can to dip while I'm driving. I went cold turkey. It's tough, but worth it
  • Just turned 49 in December. Working on getting in shape. I don't feel my age and don't think I look my age either.
  • You're going at it the right way. You can't lose weight with exercise. Exercise can help, but you lose weight by eating properly. But for a healthier you, try to get in some extra exercise throughout the day. Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Take the long way to the restroom. Little things make a…
  • Welcome. Check out the groups, there's several diabetes related groups that can offer some support.
  • Welcome. Since you obviously have an interest in running, why not start out with a run/walk routine or even straight walking to help build up your endurance. Even being 75 lbs over your goal doesn't mean you can't start working towards your goal of running regularly again.
  • Congrats on taking the first steps to get in better shape. You obviously know what you need to do. The people around here are good motivators. Keep checking in and they will be a big help.
  • Good luck with it. I do some of his Focus T25 workouts and they are really good. Shaun T is a good motivator.
  • I missed the part about him pressuring you to do something even though you told him you didn't want to and that you had an injury. In that case I'd go to management. He's risking your safety and he's risking a lawsuit for the gym if you get hurt by an employee basically forcing you to do an exercise.
  • Good luck with getting back to it. I've been plateaued for almost a year and still want to lose that last 15 pounds. Just getting back to being motivated myself.
  • Scott, you've taken the first step to taking control of your health. 2-3 years ago I was 220, I saw a picture of myself on the beach and hated what I saw. I first did weight watchers with the wife and while I lost a little, it was a pain looking at the calories. I found MFP and it was perfect for me. I could eat anything I…
  • I recently got the Vivosmart HR+ I really like it. Only thing that I don't like is that using GPS, the battery will only last about 8 hours. But I guess that's to be expected with a fitness band size device. Without GPS it's about a week.
  • Sure, I'll give this a shot. Not sure how often I'll remember to check in. Starting weight: 191 Current weight: 191 February goal: 186 Ultimate goal: 175 As a little background, I started with MFP about 2 years ago and went from 220-ish to 190 fairly steadily. But I've been sitting at this 190 range for at least a year. I…
