@WinoGelato +10 points for "flabbergasts"

The biggest hurdle for me, even after 100lb lost, has been managing expectations. I suggest maybe going 1 whole month without weighing yourself at all..that has helped me in the past. Also, try to remember it probably took you at least a few months, or maybe years to put on the extra weight, so it might just as well take…

@frugalshrimp props for the non-alarmist info. 1200 is hardly a magical gateway into sickness and food disorder.. OP, 1200cal is really hard to maintain for some people, and can easily cause frustration to the point of giving up. Also, it's probably a larger deficit than you need to lose weight at a steady pace. Looking…

Out of curiousity, I often weigh new packaged foods..like my microwave bags of veggies say they're 4 servings, but they always weigh out as about 3..at 30cal a serving it really doesn't matter..but if it's like peanut butter or icecream, a serving off could mean a lot!

I think I've lost my fat more spread throughout than a lot of people, and I don't really have loose skin yet..maybe after the next 40lb I'm gonna go for..but it is wierd to feel lumps of fat on my legs when I run my hand down them..and only on the quads? It is interesting how strange the body reacts to this sort of thing,…

I think you needed to vent..that's cool. But this really is a non issue..IMO, don't be embarrassed by having 140lb written when you actually weigh 135lb, and don't let anyone, even a doctor, patronize you about something so trivial =).

I've for the most part only care about the weekly averages..I often eat twice as many calories on my days off as I do the days I work..and weekly averages make me feel less crap about that.
-
Eh...during some times of my 100lb (ish) loss, I've gone under 1200 calories. Some days as low as 900...if I'm not hungry, because the calories I ate were high volume (like tons of veggies) I wasn't going to go out of my way to eat more just to hit a number. WITH THAT BEING SAID, this whole time I've paid close attention…

I like my cheat meals/days. They keep me sane, and prevent a deprivation feeling induced depression..

Attention from girls for he first time ever is really nice..but now some people think I can be a dick sometimes, when I think they're just not used to me asserting myself.. It's been a give and take =)

Hey man, I've lost 100lb and like you, I enjoy social drinking..hell, I enjoy socially blacking out sometimes. If I know I'm gonna drink, I try to save 200-300 cal throughout the day, as a buffer, and then stick with straight vodka, rum, or whiskey shots. 4 to 5 will usually do the trick, and that's only about 400…

Well, right before I started losing weight, my resting heart rate was about 80, fairly consistently. During my last year of weight loss my resting heart rate has seemed to be 50-60...a nutritionist very recently told me that's likely from being in a caloric deficit for so long..it's likely low as a means for my body to…

Dig in an don't fret over it..imo. I've lost about 100lb, and "cheat" meals have kept me sane thru out. Enjoy!

Super helpful!
-
Awesome! Can you describe the process you went thru, and possibly how much it costs?
-
Awesome! I've lost over 100lb so far..now I'm just curious, and if it can help further weight loss, awesome!
-
Ok thank you!

I used to really like 2 or 3 splenda in a large cup of coffee..slowly I aquired the taste for coffee and now I prefer 1, maybe 2 splenda, either way it's basically calorie free =)
-
I'm coming up on 100lb lost soon..what got me motivated was the doctor telling me I needed to get on to some blood pressure meds at just 27. Keep trying, and remember that this is a marathon..figuratively..well, actually running a lot will probably help too =P
-
Wait, you've lost 28lbs?? That's frackin AWESOME!! I'd suggest keep doin what you're doing and try not to worry about a moderate amount of sweets =)
-
Well I don't know for sure, because I didn't get any blood tests, but this last summer my doc told me I had high blood pressure and probably was pre diabetic due to certain symptom-like descriptions..she said I could go on blood pressure medicine but suggested I instead lose weight..like, a lot. The threat of being 28 and…

I've lost 85lbs, and quitting soda cold turkey was HUGE!! I never ate a lot, but I drank 300-800 calories a day in soda..I switched to MIO, which is a 0 calorie sweetened water additive, but then as winter came to Colorado, I switched to coffee with splenda..still basically 0 calories, but warm and very addicting! I…

Ok so I can lose 2lbs a week if I do things perfectly, but I can fluctuate 10lbs or more a day just because of water or food and waste in my body.. So after 4 weeks of perfect dieting, I might have burned 8lbs of fat but still weigh more than when I first started.. Point is, disregard the scale and just eat at a moderate…

I think..purely speculative..loose skin only happens when you REALLY push the elasticity of your skin..like if you get stretch marks in lots of places at the same time, you're probably going to have some loose skin.. However I know, I've lost 80lbs recently and don't have any loose skin..I've got another 50ish to go tho,…

I totally expected to gain weight, but I guess 5 months of logging really did teach me about food choices, amounts, even just what feeling full is as opposed to stuffed or food coma... It's been a life changing 7 months, can't wait to press on.

Actual conversation the other day. Me: *drinks diet coke quietly* Him: Dude diet coke is so much worse for you than regular.. Me: For me it isn't. Him: No man, that stuff doesn't help anyone lose weight, and it will give you cancer. Me: Bro you honestly don't know what you're taking about.(tad pretentious but I never asked…

I agree..I'd bet 95%, maybe even 99% can trust the math and lose weight. Still there are "snowflakes" out there that are special, and should consult professionals if things don't ever work out.
-
@_wendygetsfit I started out in a similar place..337lb, bad medical stats..but then I gave up soda for 0 calorie beverages, and when I was able to do that for a couple weeks, I was able to start logging and trying to keep my calories lower. I didn't exercise really, I just watched what I ate. Now I'm 80lbs lighter and my…

Thanks! But go where?? I think I'm gonna go to a local bar for a burger =)

I can easily do "no added" sugar =)
