  • I was diagnosed last year, and I'm the one who brought it up at my appointment because I've suspected for years. (I actually brought it up MANY times over the years with every kind of doctor I visited, but a naturopath is the other person who listened to me and checked my hormones.) I'm not insulin resistant though and…
  • When people open their car door and empty their old soda cup in the parking lot before driving away. That’s a purely self-absorbed jerk move. Because who doesn’t like stepping in a sticky mess getting out of their car?

  • I ran this morning while wearing my new sun hat from Costco. I'm super slow, so it's not like it's going to blow off. I know I look crazy, but the sun in AZ is no joke, and I already have melasma. My dermatologist reminded me about sunscreen at my appointment last week. It was already 79 degrees by the time I was done. If…
  • @KatieJane83 I remember feeling this way about some model of Nikes many years ago. I'd worn probably 3 or 4 versions in the past, but I bought a newer model and they just didn't work. I scoured the internet for a pair of the older model I'd loved and wore those until they wore out, and then moved on to Saucony and Brooks.…
  • Very nice!
  • Gorgeous evening here. We took our dog for a walk and ran into 2 other families we know doing the same. Everyone talked about how wonderful it was outside, especially since it'll be 99 degrees on Friday. Later I went for a run. 22.54/30
  • Ran another 2.52 miles this evening, putting me at 19.95/30 for the month. (Sheesh! Should have run another .05 miles for an even number!)
  • This is what I first heard about Bod Pod, but then I started reading more online, like this: https://weightology.net/the-pitfalls-of-body-fat-measurement-part-3-bod-pod/ https://journals.uic.edu/ojs/index.php/JKNSR/article/view/5991/0
  • I had a marathon session of trying on older clothes in my closet and realized that most of them actually fit again. I also had a male friend yesterday tell me I was looking great and he wanted to know what I was doing. He's probably the third person who's said anything and I was surprised he even noticed.
  • I'm really hoping for this part. Mine were really off a few months ago according to bloodwork.
  • April start wt: 156.5 April Goal wt: 150 April 1: 156.5 April 8: 154.6 April 14: 150.9 April 21: 148.4! Wow! I finally broke out of the 150s!
  • My last run was Saturday evening and it was dark. I ran down a country road where I've spotted an angry barking dog a few times that always makes me double check to see if their gate is closed. For a split second I saw a dark shadow that was running OUTSIDE the fence that filled me with panic and made my heart sink. I…
  • April start wt: 156.5 April Goal wt: 150 April 1: 156.5 April 8: 154.6 April 14: 150.9 April 22: Sundays work better for me weighing in. Today's number surprised me!
  • Ran 3 miles this evening. I don't usually like to run in the dark despite living in a very 'safe' area, but tonight it felt great. That puts me at 12.4/30 miles for April.
  • Another 1.13 miles today, putting me at 9.37/30 for the month. I'd better get cracking!
  • Have you tried keeping track of your steps with a FitBit or some type of device? It can be pretty motivating to reach a step goal each day and work towards increasing it, or join challenges with others. I do the 'inefficiency' thing when folding and putting away clothes just to get in more steps. I always park far away,…
  • I tried a hands-free leash with our 95 pound labrador a few years back after a friend recommended one. On one of our runs the dog spotted a lizard and took off chasing it at full speed, dragging me after her. I landed on my tailbone, my head smacked against the sidewalk, and I was lying there on the ground dazed for a…
  • Family pictures scheduled for next week. We haven't had a family picture in years, and it's probably at least partially because I haven't been happy with how I looked. That makes me feel selfish and awful. :'(
  • When I first got a FitBit years ago I was pretty obsessed. I tried to get 10,000 steps by 10 am, or 15,000 steps a day for a long streak. Then I joined challenges and enjoyed beating my friends until I realized everyone I knew was pretty sedentary, ate more than I did, and was still skinnier than I was. It honestly just…
  • That's the part I don't understand when I watch the show My 600 lb. Life. So many people on the show go in thinking the surgery is going to magically change everything and then are disappointed when they are told they still need to watch what they eat and exercise.
  • My 17 year old son and I have been lifting together for a few months in our home, and it’s probably time for us to move it to a gym, especially for the squat rack. We’ve watched a ton of technique videos online and consulted several books, like my old copy of Body For Life and my New Rules Of Lifting For Women. I’ve…
  • I recently found out that LASIK eventually wears off. No one told me that when I had it done, at least not that I remember. I’m the last of my 3 sisters to have it wear off and it took about 15 years. My optometrist pointed it out at my last appointment. I’m just starting to need cheaters occasionally at 46, and my…
  • April start wt: 156.5 April Goal wt: 150 April 1: 156.5 April 8: 154.6 April 15: April 22: Finally the scale is moving again! It was stuck most of my last month. I think it helped that I upped my calories a little.
  • Generally in the US this is not something people do or want to hear, but I've lived in different places where it's considered perfectly acceptable and complimentary to tell something they're getting fatter. (People told me I was getting fatter, and I indeed was, but I REALLY tried not to take it personally since I realized…
  • Good comeback! But seriously, what is it about weight loss that makes people think they can ask stuff like that? Did you ask her how much SHE weighs?
  • I lost 30-40 lbs. several years back and started a new job. After a few weeks one of my new co-workers asked if I was a cheerleader in high school, and said something about me being naturally thin. I told her of my recent weight loss and she wouldn't believe me, and kept pestering me to bring in a 'before' photo. (This was…
  • I remember a horrible episode involving chiggers when I lived in Texas. And the biggest roaches I'd ever seen! Got a couple of miles in this morning, so I'm up to 6.7 out of 30 for the month.
  • Salmon, brown rice, and broccoli.
  • Whoa! This blows my mind!!
