  • Yeah. This sounds so much like my marriage. The ex would get mad for whatever reason and then he would give me the silent treatment for days. I would be forced to break the silence (more control on his part) just to make it stop. It's a horrible situation to be in when you're married (legally bound) to the person. And if…
  • I do what you did, which is at least try. Most of the time I'm glad I pushed myself and feel better afterward, but then again...I do have that occasional day where it just isn't gonna happen and I have to walk away. And that's perfectly fine. We all have our "off" days for whatever reason. I say at least give it a shot…
  • So many things wrong with this situation... All I'm going to say is...this isn't the only thing this guy is going to try to control in your life. You don't need to be in any relationship where that's happening. Ever. And if you're afraid of him/his reactions/judgements is only one more reason you need to find it within…
  • Agreed. It sounds like you're doing great! Just stay the course and it will keep getting better. You might find yourself having lost all the weight and still having some issue there as many people do (mine is my thighs), but if you keep being persistent you'll get there. It takes time, but it can be done.
  • I weight train 3-4 days per week for 50-60mins. Then I walk or run about twice a week (maybe three) for 30-40mins.
  • This is what I do. I tend to fluctuate 3-4lbs up and down, but I won't let myself go over "x". If I start hovering right around my limit I pull the reins back a little.
  • I think the reason people don't want to believe that they can lose on 1700-1800 calories is because they haven't stopped to think (be honest with themselves) about how many calories they've were eating to become/stay overweight. Chances are...it was a much higher number than that! We all learn how to weigh/log food here…
  • Yes! Congratulations!!! You can bump up to maintenance calories either way, but generally it's better to increase gradually. This tends to prevent a "water weight" jump on the scale that people see if they increase all at once. It's still fine to do as its only water that would be shed again, but some people don't want to…
  • Seriously.... Nobody's talking about your woes with never ever getting enough food, so why rain on their parade and imply that they'll eventually be miserable? Congratulations on having hit maintenance op!
  • I think she means waiting to start a recomp.
  • I'd rather do that than carry a gallon sized container around. Call me crazy, but that's just me. And is it really difficult to pour water into a smaller bottle? Like I said though..whatever. Not gonna debate over water bottles.
  • I see what you're saying about you and your mom, but....I just think it a little odd that anyone needs to carry that much water to/around the gym, but....whatever!
  • All this talk about gallon jugs is making me wonder, does anyone actually carry around an entire gallon of water? Unless you're a laborer working outside in the heat all day, that's a whole lotta water to tote around! Seems like it's just a stupid exaggeration for pf to use...
  • ^^Yup. Just stick to what you're doing, but in the end...to a degree it's going to be what it's going to be. Im in maintenance now, and I still have big legs, but....I'm keeping up with my workouts and it really is helping as far as firming things up and reducing the appearance of cellulite. If you aren't doing any…
  • I didn't either. LOL! I've been lifting for close to a year and I'm just now after a couple months starting to see a difference. I think I managed to put on a smidgen of muscle, but the majority of what I'm seeing is due to my fat percentage getting lower now. Still have a long way to go, but I see a little difference in…
  • I love eating at night, so I structure my calories such that I have enough for after dinner snacks.
  • Yeah...this. But just wanted to say that if you think you need to eat more before you workout then eat more. I never ate beforehand but now I have to or I'm screwed. I go to the gym early but usually have a small bowl of cereal, peanut butter crackers, or a protein pancake with a cup of strong coffee...for an added kick in…

  • Yup. Anything new is uncomfortable at first, but the only way to start getting into it is to jump on in there. After a few times you'll be more comfortable...recognize the regulars and see that they're just there doing their thing like you are. Sure...people look around. I do it too because I just like to see what others…
  • That's great!
  • Well....are you set on doing SL or are you open to starting a different program you can do on your own at home? Something with weights that you're good with doing by yourself? There are a lot of programs out there.... My usual gym schedule is going to fall apart once school is over, so I ordered Dumbbells and I'm going to…
  • Yeah....you could switch to losing .5/wk (which really would be better)....lose the remaining weight slower....while gradually transitioning to maintenance/starting a recomp.
  • And you have to call someone out on it? Really?
  • I have really big thighs in relation to everywhere else on my body. The only thing you can really do is keep your deficit going...get whatever weight (and fat that goes along for the ride) you need to off. Besides that, I really would consider incorporating some full body strength training into your routine. That means…

  • Agreed. I would enjoy a nice breakfast with the family on the weekend and just have a lighter lunch.

  • Why did I never think of doing this?!?!?!
  • Water, diet soda, sugar free drinks (only 5cals which makes no difference to me personally). Everything else gets logged even if it's just lettuce because I also track macros/micros vs only calories.
  • All of that is great, but your last sentence is where it falls apart. By saying that, it insinuates that ripped guys in general aren't polite. And that's exactly what everyone gets themselves in a twist over. People who are "ripped" aren't any more/less impolite than anyone else walking down the street.
  • Really interesting stuff guys. Thank you so much.

  • I wonder if this is why I saw a jump on the scale. I ate within my calories for the week, but had a three pound jump that's still sticking. I know it's water, but I never had this happen when I ate the same amount daily....

  • You already made the decision to do it, but I wouldn't just because it's going to end up being the focus of your table. You're all there to enjoy each other, not be drawing all the attention/conversation to the scale. With just one friend as a goof, I would probably laugh and do it, but not with a large group.
