  • It's nice to feel desirable occasionally, if the 'eyer' is respectful about it. If it helps, know that a person who takes care of himself/herself & has confidence -- regardless of age -- has always turned my head more often than anyone else. One of the sexiest women I ever met was 65, gapped toothed, & with a huge hook of…
  • I exercised today!!!!! 💪 Technically it was just 'prehab' stuff with PT in preparation for the big day, but still counts in my book! 🙂 Never realized how much I'd miss exercising until I couldn't anymore. I'm wiped out & in more pain than usual, but totally worth it - been grinning all day.
  • I didn't really keep track of it, but I do think HR has decreased several points (15 or so?) as I've lost weight (~60 lbs). I think some of this may be due to now typically eating very healthy - I routinely track macros & micros like a hawk, which means much lower fat & sodium than in heavier days.
  • Currently: HR 59, BMI 38.4, zilcho fitness (been unable/not medically cleared to exercise for couple of years due to soon-to-be repaired injury)
  • Also a NSV - for watching test matches this year, I stuck to tea & cress sandwiches!
  • For me, watching college football & noshing on tailgate foods has always been my favorite kind of day. This season, I ate a lot of light, lean foods before each game so I had little room left for anything high calorie. And now, I'm sitting here watching LSU-Clemson with some lightly olive oiled grilled portobellos and…
  • Woooooohoooooo!!! Well done, pleased for you and your hard work :) Something about having that first digit be a 2 rather than a 3 really hits hard!
  • Today I realized I could detect another bone lurking under my squishy surface. The bump along your side is your pelvis, apparently 😁
  • I'm shaking as I type this: My surgery is now officially scheduled. By springtime, I'll have regained mobility and will be pain-free. My injury and pain were not caused by my weight, yet multiple doctors rejected me for a host of weight/nutrition related reasons. It took 147 days of determination, but the day finally came…
  • Achieved!!! Surgery in a few weeks, then I'm back to normal and back to the gym 💪 Next mini-goals as I wait: 1. 12.1 lbs away from the halfway mark for my total WLJ 2. Try to hit within 5% all of my micronutrient targets for January
  • While chitchatting with some folks today, I listened to several ambitious resolutions for the new year, then realized I had nothing to contribute back to the conversation. That's my NSV - turns out, I've started a year happy with my current processes. Life isn't perfect, mind you! But it is currently heading in the right…
  • Not in the least ridiculous, and I am so inspired by your hard work! If it helps you to frame your accomplishments, I'm over 50 lbs lighter than you are, but I can't do what you achieved with footwork. Rock it, girl! You may find yourself getting emotional and teary eyed multiple times over the course of your WLJ. It's…
  • I am in awe of both of you 🌟
  • You may still find yourself from time to time staring at your new, smaller-sized trousers and thinking, "There's no way I'll get these on, good grief, look how tiny they look." Then, after they slide right on, no problem, all that goes through your brain for awhile is WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!
  • Today I fell in my driveway while bringing in groceries. I limped inside, made my planned salad, and then dropped it - splat all over the kitchen floor, to be trod upon by my dog (his hopes were quickly dashed by the dullness of undressed lettuce). Grimly remade the salad and promptly dropped it AGAIN to the same results…
  • Hit the threshold, now for the patience part (so much harder than watching what I eat :s ) Surgery to repair my stupid leg will be the game changer. Less or no pain, and the ability to walk again? Oh yes please! Alrighty, I've decided to think big and expand my next mini-goal sequence a bit: patience --> surgery -->…
  • That last line is the most important - the threshold for the surgery is below 40.0. ...I keep tearing up each time I read it. Gonna need a bigger box of Kleenex today.
  • This resonates with me so much. Thrilled for you & congrats on your new AWESOME coat!
  • Oh, and the other NSV is, my shirts are finally a small enough size that they stay put on the darn clothes hangers!!
  • As I've mentioned on here before, clothes have been a huge source of anxiety for years. (I was too big to shop anywhere but specialty plus size stores, and those didn't even always have large enough sizes for me). So, the following is a major NSV for me: I just replaced 89.3% of my wardrobe!!! :o Nearly everything I own…
  • Well done, I think that would feel like a wonderful transition and a great goal to reach indeed! For me, my recent mental boost is because my total left to lose is now a two digit number rather than a three digit number. Something about it is just less intimidating, as silly as that may sound.
  • Achieved! Now 34% done with total :) Still working on the BMI threshold for the surgery but very close - just 3 more lbs. Next mini-goal after that, find the patience needed until doctor gets back to me with next steps. Grrrr....
  • Very inspiring - thank you for sharing your story! And an aside, as a fellow Nittany Lions fan, I hope that's one of the shirts you'll be replacing with a new size-appropriate version 😉
  • I've been getting more & more of the standard, "OMG what's your secret, I neeeeeed to know!!!...oh, that's all? I could never do that, I love food too much". I just chuckle at how consistent the reaction always is 😂 What surprises me is how often my coworkers comment on my food. Granted, I'm typically eating extra healthy…
  • 'Enjoyed yummy treats in moderation' still sounds like a NSV to me :) And happy belated birthday!
  • Exactly! This is why despite the mishap, I'm still not quite ready to give them up. Going to dig out the ol' sewing basket this weekend & see what can be done. :)
  • That during the losing weight process, you may refuse to acknowledge that certain favorite items of clothing have become comically too large until the day one of them literally falls off your body. I even made a joke on here once about worrying I'd moon someone. I didn't actually think it would happen, though! :D (Just my…
  • Two new NSV's: 1. One of my cats only likes to be held when it's cold. Today she requested her first cuddle of the season, but after a minute of squirming around, jumped down and left. Finally dawned on me, my cats' "favorite fat roll" (aka, the uppermost abdominal bit) is now gone and she couldn't find a way to perch. I…
  • That you'll find yourself one day so miserably sick with a bad cold that you can barely get out of bed, yet you'll still insist on logging the few measly bites of oatmeal that you forced down. ...only to have MFP chide you at the end of the day for not eating enough. Grrrr cough sneeze 😷
  • Definitely gently babbling brook, but for me wind will be whistling along the eaves of an old house instead :) My favorite is mourning doves quietly calling in the twilight. My weirdest one is when someone at work is using the paper slicer in a fairly slow, methodic way.
