Those ingredients would also be good as a topping for a baked potato. With the salsa, I'm sure you could use less than 360 calories of salad dressing/cottage cheese/sour cream to add enough moisture.

If it allowed me to know how long I was going to live and took off the crappiest year, then I would consider it. But in your scenario, you don't know how long, so nope.

I gave up going to the grocery store for "just a few things" because I never actually do it. I just haaaave to see what's new, what looks good, and what's on sale...then I end up with your counter.

I like their packaged salads, bits and pieces bacon, single serving and other nut mixes, frozen seafood, tartes (like very thin pizzas), tiny angel food cakes, interesting cheeses, bagged Asian stirfry like meals, the two buck chuck is worth a try. I always check out the fresh fruits and veggies because they sometimes have…

Whenever I enter a setting, my weight compared to others is one thing I notice (still remember the time I went to a nightclub in LA at about 15 pounds overweight and was the fattest person in the whole room!). I also notice how old I am compared to everyone else, how I am dressed compared to others, the gender ratio,…

When I was doing low carb, I couldn't do fasted cardio, I had to eat something beforehand and after as well. With more carbs in my diet now, it doesn't bother me. I would just go by how you are feeling, if you are already getting lightheaded it may not be a sustainable approach for you if it turns into nausea, etc.

It shouldn't be too difficult to backtrack through what you have added to your diet to pinpoint what is causing the heartburn. You won't have to eliminate all fruits and vegetables, just the ones causing you difficulty.

I was thinking something along these lines, except with sliced summer squash. Adding some grated parmesan cheese gives a big flavor kick for not many calories, and I would use a sharp cheddar instead of mild.

Yeah, when I was 20 I dated a 35 year old whose maturity level matched mine. It was not the material for a long term relationship. *I* would have probably been ready for kids before he was, so maybe you have the question backward, OP!

I have come into this thread many times and not known how to answer, and I think the reason is that for me, giving my all is not sustainable. This time around, I am trying to figure out exactly how slack I can be on average and still progress toward my goals, however slowly. Will this be the time? Don't know yet, but I'm…

One of the grocery stores here sells the most delicious baguettes. They go stale and hard as a rock in a couple days, so you just *have* to eat them up fast (oh the sacrifice). Put in a toaster oven with way too much butter...heaven!
-
It really depends on the guy. Are you to the point in your relationship where you have talked about kids at all?

I discovered their benefits after I was hospitalized and given strong antibiotics, which led to a lovely bout with c. diff and more meds, and it was pretty bad after that for months until I started taking a probiotic suggested by a friend (Garden of Life). I'm not sure there is any reason to take them if you are not having…

When I had my DNA tested, there were a few genes that were associated with higher/lower weights. For me, it could possibly account for about 4 pounds. There weren't any (known at that time, anyway) genes that could account for much more than that.

I was going to say that it probably covers the alcohol consumed, but you beat me to it. B)

If you direct compost, make sure you dig deep enough because critters can smell the food and will go for it. I ended up getting a composter that does not touch the ground because my food scraps were bringing all the possums, dogs, and who knows what else to the yard and I got tired of eggshells being strewn across the lawn…

Well, I did it today! 28g of fiber from black beans, raisin bran, broccoli, chickpeas, and smaller amounts from other veggies but it all added up. My carb% ended up the the high 50s% and fat/protein were in the low 20s% so I still have some adjusting to do, but it wasn't too difficult, I just had to make fiber a priority…

Do I have the basics here correct...you started a few weeks ago at 125, lost 5 pounds in 2 days (which has stayed off), but have not lost more since? You already know the quick loss was water, and it is not uncommon to have a quick drop like that as water and then what feels like a stall as the water weight renormalizes…

I choose based on personal taste...full fat cottage cheese is the only edible kind. B) Ditto sour cream and most cheeses (I don't mind part skim mozzarella). If I had to choose low fat versions or not eat them at all, I would not eat them. Milk, I prefer full fat but 2% is fine and in the past I've also been OK with skim.

Acesulfame Potassium is also an artificial sweetener. So, two artificial sweeteners in this "Pure Cane Sugar Soda". :|

Thanks for all the input and advice! To answer some of the questions, my typical diet is only giving me about 15g fiber so I really do need more. Fun carbs was just a silly way of saying carby foods that are not as nutritionally dense...white bread, sweetened beverages, etc. I probably should have clarified on the fats…

Bolthouse makes a decent tasting lower calorie yogurt based ranch (located in the refrigerated produce section).

How is your calorie burn when you look at the 15 minute breakdown? Mine has a baseline amount that I earn when I am sleeping or sitting still or forget to put it on (something like 13 calories per 15 minutes), and I can look at periods of walking or other activity and see how much extra I am earning. When you look at…

Tomatoes should not be on an anti-inflammatory list without a boatload of caveats. I wonder if they put these lists together simply looking at things like "hey there are a ton of antioxidants in tomatoes so tomatoes must be awesome!", without taking into account things like the solanine in tomatoes, which can far outweigh…

I've had weight loss masked by exercise for an entire month, at which point all the weight I'd been expecting to lose for the month came off in a three day whoosh (and stayed off). Is it possible you are eating back too much for your exercise calories?

People watching at the gym (anything pretty, sparkly, unusual) helps make the time go by more pleasantly when doing boring cardio. Weights I am usually too busy trying to breathe/keep good form/not die to pay any attention.

Strength training helped my yoga and got me to poses I'd never been able to reach by only doing yoga. Yoga is good for me in so many ways, but as a strength builder it is not very efficient.

I am not a big fan of weight related challenges. If you win by losing more, some people really want to WIN and will undereat/overexercise to get that validation. The ones I have been in, the winners were never the people losing 1-2 pounds a week. I don't do challenges like that any more because I don't want to see it.…
