You can totally run the day after a long run. For many folks training for marathons and ultras, bback to back long runs are also a thing..... My normal weekend is back to back longer runs... Depending on where I am in a training cycle. for example, yesterday was a 3 hour trail run, and today was a 2:30 road run.

Looks like everyone has some awesome races in their schedules. Here's to an amazing season for everyone! Might as well lay out my whole season, since Training for each race is training for the others: April: Zumbro 50 May: Superior 50k June: Grandma's marathon (maybe snag a PR?) July: Voyageur 50 September: Superior 100

yeah. It looks like a day long party with some running in the middle. doing it as part of a team will be fun and really make it an easier day.

Those look cool. the 10x5k looks like a great day of running.

Superior on 9/7-9/8

I'll be at your marathon. In theory I'll be on the medical team.

reverse psychology.... it's all a mind game

runners run on roads because joggers jog on sidewalks?

I've maxed out at about 55 miles per week for pretty much every ultra distance. Like @7lenny7 said, Relentless Forward Progress is a great book to use as a starting point. For ultras, time on feet and trail specific training goes a long way.

I'm not surprised at the number really. As the sport grows, there will be more people who are in it for the competitive nature, not just out there to test themselves against the wild and the clock, and to enjoy nature. It would be interesting to see what kinds of PEDs were being used. Too bad the report doesn't say.…

@jele30 Nice running. You'll get pictures another time. Sometimes you just have to run.

You're just getting more for your race fee. At the awards ceremony for my last race, the RD stopped presenting, every time a runner would come in, and the whole crowd would turn around and cheer them in. Some of the 100 racers had been out there for 36 hours by the time they ceremony started. The RD liked to call them…

Cool. Kettle is a great area, from what I've heard from friends.

Popping in to say hello. Beginning of the school year is SUPER busy..... Life keeps getting in the way of getting in here regularly, but in a good way.... Not having time to check in means that I'm keeping out of trouble in other ways.... Hopefully I'll be on here every couple of days, not often enough to read every post,…

Just another note. I ran the Superior 50 this past weekend (52 miles) I had no crew and no drop bags, just a couple refills of Tailwind in my vest. For races under 100k, I think that crew/pacers/drop bags really aren't necessary

I've got the Superior Fall 50 coming up on Saturday

totally this. My buddy who crewed me wasn't a runner. It just needs to be someone who understands you and knows when to be comforting or to kick your *kitten*

Here's the link to the discussion where I mentioned how I found a LTHR to use: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10607880/hr-tracking-training-101/p1

I found my pacers online, through running FB groups in the area. For my 100k, my first ultra, I had crew (buddy from work) and a pacer. In hindsight, the pacer wasn't really necessary for that race, but having my crew was great. I fueled exclusively with Tailwind, and my buddy had freshly filled bottles at each AS, so I…

Superior Fall 50. For the fist time, I have real approval from my coach to have a time goal!

headphones take away one of your senses. On courses that aren't closed to traffic and, espcaially, on trail, you NEED to have full situational awareness. I haven't run with music for a couple years, at all distances. It really is a safety issue. it's too easy to zone out with music in, so a lot of RDs discourage it.

Just popping in real quick, Toddler wrangling, working summer school and coordinating a house sale are keeping me way too busy. No way I can read 1200 posts I missed. Had a race yesterday, it was a great day and a good day to run. I hope everyone is having a Runderful day and a Runderful Summer

that's awesome! nice running

Berlin marathon has 122ft total vert.... different strategies required, but that doesn't make the WR set there any less legitimate.....

@MegaMooseEsq awesome running!

They can both hold the same reservoir, The difference is that the X5 can hold 2 bottles in the front, the x2 just holds one. Also, the x5 is more of an expedition pack, with the waist pockets, whereas the X2 just has straps on the side. There's a lot more cargo capacity in the x5.

I'm around here, just life getting in the way. Wunjo products are pretty awesome. They are literally a brand new company, so some kinks are getting worked out. Add to that the fact that it takes about 2 weeks for packages to come from Norway, and it can take a little while for things to arrive. That said, I've been running…

My coach just put plyometrics on my schedule starting next week. Tim to get a box for jumps.
