  • South London, anyone welcome to add.
  • I'm happy with my Polar H7, however I do use an 'older' wear-link strap which may make a slight difference. For me the battery life is very good, but then chances are I'm not using as much as others. The H10 appears to be similar to what you have if you only require in unit recording and not use a wrist unit or a mobile.
  • Well, a rather interesting phone call. The only comment about my blood result was that my Potassium level was low and one of my tablets is known to deplete it, so was told to stop taking it but to resume the other one. Then redo the blood test a few days before I see the Snr Partner on the 3rd. If I start to feel funny or…
  • I'm the one to be sorry, not offended me at all. My step by step how I did it wasn't intended to be 'look I did it right' ;) Rather to reinforce what your phlebotomist told you. I got into verbose mode this morning. Had a chuckle about the 'leather effect', I keep forgetting about that :D Funny old business with the bus, I…
  • I broke a cardinal rule of allowing myself to get upset and then hit the keyboard, I am neither proud nor happy what I did. To those whom I made accusations, my sincerest apologies - I was not directing to any person, but that is beside the point. I wish not to inflame the situation any more than what I've already done.…
  • The kit comes with detailed instructions, they have put a lot of thought into it. I had my hand under warm (they said 40C, so my interpretation of what that is) for 4 minutes, they also say do a fist clench and the elastic band at the second knuckle. The lancet is quite large, it not like the needle prick typical of the…
  • Fair enough on the last point. I'll stick with my original post and retract anything I said post that. I have learn't my lesson not to question in certain parts of this site, however I cannot stand by and see people forcing their will -OK- provocative language. What starts out to be a valid question on the site, turns into…
  • Yip, I've made progress but not enough. My initial comment here seems to have to have hit a mark, but subsequent have not garened me, more woo's, expected I guess. That was not my intention. I will take this offline - the discussion has vered so far from the original - little wonder why so many of these well intended posts…
  • I'm sorry, but that is confusing to a person trying to get onto the weight loss ladder. Some may be able to eat what they wish, within certain limits, but others can't. It is almost as though gaining that higher level is an allusive, non attainable feat but hey hoe some have. The loss is easier for some than others,…
  • Thank you and am truly pleased it has helped in your quest to get those £'s off. I'm also pleasantly surprised I didn't attract the woo's that I expected and would like to thank those who supported my post <3 I'm going to offer an approach to this, which is totally non related to this site in any form, but to show just how…
  • Hi @staceyuden. I'm straying into the lions den here and will no doubt be getting a lot of woos over my post Many of these knowledgeable folk have been here for awhile and understandably get tired of the same sorts of questions. I've been in the same boat and was trying to find a starting point when what I thought was…
  • Thanks. It looks like the BP drop well below normal was a one off, yesterday it did dip a bit below the magical 120/80, but was OK 2 hours later when I rechecked. Overall feeling much better, still not right, but not at the bottom of a well. I've got a bit more 'fight' in me, so am more inclined to get to a BMI hospital…
  • I think most of us can identify with what you are going through and well done for trying to work it out yourself. From what I've experienced this is extremely complex and taking this or that medication may work for some, but not for everyone. I am on medication and over the past two months it seems to have stopped working.…
  • Lumping along, thanks, hit a pothole yesterday - very small set-back. Either I didn't measure right or there was a problem, but my Blood Pressure dropped very low (was feeling pretty awful, hence the test)- I've been on medication for a few years. I didn't take it the day of the failed blood 'test', but did take a reading…
  • I've been flamed for comments I've posted on calories being calories, am very cautious about offering any advice. I am partial to a drink, possibly a bit too much. I took my drink calories into account whilst logging and in a way skipped food with bad consequences. In my simplistic view, alcohol in the system is viewed by…
  • Thank you, the box might be tastier ;) Well I think I may well have got onto something with last nights adjustments, in spite of being calorific-ally over goal I have lost a kilo (2.2lbs) overnight. I agree with historic demonising foods in the past, like the eggs and fat - turns out that 'medical fad' was wrong and in…
  • It's a pity there's an upper limit and the rest turns to fat ;) I know that is ridiculous, back in time when our ancestors would eat when they could (feast / famine) fat reserves were vital to survival. However I'd like to support what you said, not withstanding my comments from the depths of despair 2 days ago. All the…
  • I'd forgotten about the over ripe banana, I have one but that is for my apple and raisin muffin which I make for my lunch - use the banana instead of butter. Another treatment, but for the other end of the scale, for upset tummies we'll turn to Rooibos (Red Bush) tea - have it black and if it needs a bit of sweetening then…
  • I've gone for the Thyroid Check PLUS ELEVEN through Blue Horizon, there are more complete tests but those would require me going to a BMI clinic for the draw. My surgery won't do it, I was procrastinating how I'd get to the hospital which for some reason is in the back-end of nowhere so settled on a finger prick test which…
  • @AnvilHead thank you for the info, I've got myself into a right state over this which lead me to write all that rubbish. Was not my intention, but I did 'successfully' portray the notion of being different, pretty stupid of me - a routine blood test has shown a significant change in one area from the previous years, having…
  • Thank you for your response, indeed I have accepted a lower loss expectation, in the order of a quarter of what I had achieved in the previous 3 months. It was when I lost a bit the underlying condition decided to become mainstream. My expenditure out is device based, 'my weapon' of choice is Polar -a brand which has…
  • Well done, and not trying be envious, but really you are doing well - hope you get to your goal weight.
  • I have often questioned if a calorie means more to one person than another. My answer is the unit of measure does not differ. a mile does not become shorter for those who cannot attain it as easily as others. I'm squarely in that camp trying to work out why, in spite of reducing calorifric in take nothing is working.…
  • I'm tracking less than 1000 but still gaining - too low for me to close my diary, ah well a problem I'm having to work though.
  • Thank you, on the strength of your replies I've once again gone round the roundabout - this time taking a different exit and have actually placed a blood test order! I'm sorry to hear of your ongoing struggle. My decision to go ahead was based on the knowledge that I'd likely not get the 'basics' from the DR, not that they…
  • Thank you Fuzziepeg, I'll take look on iPlayer and see if it is still available. Good idea about taking the eating plan along, might also do a month to view print of my exercise regime, even if its not looked at I hope the mere fact I'm trying is noted. One thing I have noticed this year is I am unable to build muscle,…
  • Thank you very much for your replies there is so much to take in. I have been doing quite a bit of reading, got overwhelmed and an overdose of mental fatigue! Yes lack of energy, no motivation, fuzziness, concentration virtually non existent, getting very cold, very irregular bowel movements, have managed to lose half the…
  • I've been waiting for my results, know the Dr has them but no one looked at them yet , or at least commented on the system / released them for me to see - guess an Easter backlog. I have been told the TSH (the only test done) had dropped to .95 which has taken me by surprise as its been 1.3-1.9 for the past 11 years and…
  • This thread has been most insightful, my problems seem to be the exact opposite of yours - I seem to be getting more hypo whereas your results indicate you could be closer to the hyper end. Very pleased it has worked in your favour, am also encouraged that thyroid suffers are ale to lose and maintain weight, the fact that…
  • Thanks Stacey for the reminder to make sure the antibody test is included, I ought to know if it is Hashimoto's rather than what the Dr at my last visit had assumed it was and treat accordingly based on fact. It seems like quite a drastic (for me anyway) change to diet, in fact I think most things which should be cut or…
