I’ve been eating the Simply Protein the last week or two (usually as a snack to keep me from chewing my arm off by the time I get home at 3:30-4). Pretty tasty. I mean, it’s not like eating a snickers bar, but they don’t taste bad at all, keep me from eating dinner at 4:00pm (so I’m not starving at bedtime), and helps me…

I thought I would miss it a great deal when I gave it up, but I really, really don’t. I have found alternatives to a lot of things that are plant based, or I just don’t worry about it. I did tell a co-worker yesterday as we delivered cheese plates full of high end, artisanal cheeses that not missing grocery store cheese…

I can’t help you regarding goats milk. If you’re curious, try it, but I’d say your body is telling you it is happier being dairy free. Considering humans are the only species that drinks the milk of other species and it isn’t REALLY meant for us (we’re not growing baby cows or goats), I think MOST bodies are happier, at…

There’s some great videos on YouTube on cooking tofu which has helped me get more comfortable with it and enjoy it more. I made some last night that was so good it was like eating popcorn (coat in nutritional yeast and taco season, pan fry until crispy on outside. Small diced cubes are best).

I get how it’s supposed to be more cost effective, but I shop differently when I cook my own stuff. I usually buy stuff that I can use in a variety of ways. Very rarely do I buy things for very specific recipes. And if I do, I buy in small quantities if they aren’t shelf stable. Also, composting some wasted produce is way…

I tried one for a few weeks, and while I liked the recipes (I do enjoy cooking) I found them to be VERY expensive for one person. And, yes, time consuming. And trash making. So much packaging! I prefer to just cook and experiment or use recipes I find. I’m not wild about grocery shopping but I’m perfectly happy to do it.

Vegan, so take or leave what I offer up. Most of my groceries are either produce or frozen veggies. Typical buys in produce are cucumbers, peppers, celery, carrots, onions, spinach and/or kale, potatoes (white and sweet), some kind of citrus, bananas, maybe some berries: I’m picky about quality of fruit, I particular, and…

I’ve done Vega and Orgain and I prefer Orgain. Decent flavor, not chalky, blends well even when you just do a shake and not a smoothie (I usually do a smoothie with fruit and veg, but sometimes just toss it in my blender bottle).

Nope. I’ve seen this before and I’m not a fan. Mine ends up with 190 jumping jacks (I HATE jumping jacks and they kill my leg full of hardware). And then I get 5 push ups? Yeah, no.

I get the “I’ve eaten nothing but crap all weekend/I need to eat a plant” ick feel, but when I get that way I just eat better. No cleanse (that’s what our liver and kidneys are for), nothing drastic like a fast. Sometimes I make a point of having a big old smoothie with lots of fruit and greens to start me back on the…

Vegan who bounces between junk food vegan and kinda sorta WFPB. I try to eat mostly healthy foods, but I like little indulgences, too. But my diet choice is strictly ethical, not health based. I have seen improvements in some areas because of ditching dairy (I ditched meat a couple of years ago), but those improvements are…

I mean, I used to not eat potato skins when I was a kid, but there was a lot of things I didn’t eat as a picky kid. I especially eat the sweet potato skins as I can find the innards almost too mushy and like the texture added by the skin. To each their own, as usual, I just didn’t realize people didn’t even know you can…

Vegan here. Not super reliable about tracking 100% of the time, but I try!

This is the mac n cheese recipe. http://alisainalaska.blogspot.com/2011/03/best-vegan-mac-and-cheese.html?m=1 The other two are my own creation and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to sublimate.

I'm not sure what order these loaded in but this my take on a vegan Hoppin John that I made for New Year's Day, some leftover vegan mac n cheese (no fake cheese used to make it), and a weirdly delicious "alfredo" I made with chickpeas and nooch (and spinach....I felt like I needed extra green things in my life that day, so…

And I hit or get close to my macros most days without even trying very hard, unless I'm eating like a dork.

Check out Plant Based on a Budget, Happy Herbivore, Chocolate Covered Katie, Forks over Knives, Thug Kitchen. Oh She Glows is supposed to be great, too.

Mindless eating was a huge pitfall for me. I've solved it by going vegan, though that's an extreme move and not what I'm suggesting (and didn't go vegan to quit mindless eating!). Stock up on healthy snacks and plan. That's what I've done to keep me going now that I won't just grab whatever is at hand.

Seriously. I got sucked into this mess very briefly (thankfully, got it for a discount....though still pricey). Gained weight in the 2 weeks I tried it and was constantly starving and cranky. Later found out that the vegan protein powder I use most mornings in my smoothies has fewer calories, less sugar, and almost as much…

Ballroom dancer here. My main focus (competively) are the smooth dances (waltz, tango, foxtrot, Viennese waltz), but I dance about everything socially. I have a soft spot for West Coast (my first ever little performance was a west coast!), and my first love will always be the Argentine tango. I find yoga to be very…

Love Amy's. They are great for a quick dinner or lunch, especially now that I am vegan. They also have great canned soups! I love the black bean chili. Also a fan of Sweet Earth. They have good bowls and good burritos....I love the Curry Tiger burrito.

My typical go-to quick meal is sautéing a bunch of veggie, usually including some leafy greens, and some beans (black, chickpea, kidney, etc) then throwing that on top of rice, quinoa, or a baked potato (white or sweet). Sometimes I'll do a stir fry of sorts with some noodles. Sometimes I'll throw some veggies and beans…

I committed to finally getting over my final roadblock and go vegan, though I was nearly vegan for a good while before then. You're welcome to friend me. I believe my diary is open (though don't use the last few days as an example. I have been REALLY sick!).

I agreed to go on a Harrier Hash as a first date. Now, I'm pretty adventurous and try not to say no to new experiences, and HAD I BEEN MADE MORE AWARE, I would have enjoyed the experience (and, really, I could see getting into, as I am into the absurd). But meeting up with a guy who begins to introduce you as "Amanda the…

I make lots of soups and stews this time of year and take them with me. The Amy's Organics line of canned soup has lots of vegan options, as well, are fairly low cal per serving, and super easy if you don't feel much like cooking a big pot of soup yourself.

I rarely eat any meat substitutes and eat mostly whole fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Not to say I eat no processed food (I do eat bread and pasta and I like to bake). I've been nearly vegan for ages, and decided to kick that last bit of dairy to the curb at the first of the year.

There's a solid chance you may find you don't have much appetite. I had major surgery a few years ago, and it was probably close to a month before I felt normal-ish, appetite wise. I actually lost a good amount of weight, despite eating mom's comfort food! But you do need fuel to heal, so don't NOT eat just because you're…

Regarding using/wearing animal products you owned pre-vegan, I always think it is dishonoring the life of the animal that died for that thing, whatever it may be, if we throw that stuff away and waste it. Far better for it to live out its usefulness. If it makes you uncomfortable, donate it or rehome.

I do believe reducing your meat and dairy consumption helps the environment. I definitely don't believe eating raw helps, unless you live somewhere produce is grown in abundance locally year round (Hawaii seems to be a popular spot for raw vegans).

I always have two big questions regarding people on raw, plant based diets (up until recently, I thought that was what raw meant, but I met someone recently who eats raw meat, as well....and not just nice raw steaks....the odds and ends, as well. Ewwww). The first is two parts: where do you live, and, if not in a tropical…
