Lyla -- socializing without the social lubricant takes some getting used to. You can amuse yourself by stepping back & watching the badly behaved drunks. There is one in every situation no matter how high brow. My "excuse" is always that I'm the designated driver. Over the years people got used to me not drinking & now…

Grab two cans out of your pantry. Hold one in each hand & raise them over your head while you sit on the couch. Use them like weights. March in place while you are sitting on the couch or typing on your computer. Do some jumping jacks, windmill toe touches, a few lunges, some squats, push ups, sit ups etc. Learn to plank.…

You can still share some, just not all. I understand both sides. I'm so excited about my new journey but I watch my husband's eyes glaze over when I talk about it.

Do talk to her about how her comment made you feel but also cut back on oversharing. As much as her comment hurt you, she was trying to tell you that your "obsession" as she sees it, is overwhelming her. Talk about the baby & how excited you are to be a healthier dad for your child.

Add in some more lean protein like a piece of chicken

I've scheduled a meeting with a nutritionist. But I am worried because I wasn't hungry when I woke up. I ate some cheese & drank some juice before I went to the gym; then I had more cheese when I finished but I just feel bloated. What I'm eating has to be in this mix somehow.

I'm not afraid of binging. I'm not a binger. I'm afraid that I will go back to not eating & making myself sick that way.

You had a huge life change. Your whole world view is different & change can be scary. There is more going on here then you liking food more then being thin. There is probably an element of self soothing through food & drink. Not judging. Been there. Just pointing it out since you originally asked if you could be depressed.…

I'm 157 (down 1 pound since I started) and want to get under 140 lbs.

I'm 49, 5'7" and weigh 157 pounds. I have been doing this for a little over a week. My goal is to lose belly fat so that I can wear a bikini on my 50th birthday next Spring. I'd like to be back around 130 pounds but I'll settle for 135. DH is taking me to Hawaii. for my birthday I am hoping to be in good enough shape to be…

I thought it was. I'll double check. I went over my calorie limit yesterday but I wouldn't say I binged, more like grazed. I logged everything except 1 milk dud. Yes, a calorie is a calorie but in the long run that one won't change much. Other than that, & on the 4th of July when I just couldn't keep track of everything…

It has been one of the most difficult things for me. My problem has predominantly been drinking my calories both booze & soda. At a minimum have a drink, then a pint of water. It will at least slow you down. Most people will assume you care about how you are getting home; there is not a lot of pressure to have a drink any…

Believe me I have consumed more then my fair share of wine & years ago I would have said 1 bottle is a portion size. I still struggle with drinking my calories more then eating them but I'm trying to improve. I know tomorrow & this weekend will be "bad" days & I'm trying to be OK with that but I'm also adding in extra…

My "trainer" (I put that in quotes b/c he's really just some guy at the gym who is paid to teach classes) but he had me do some of the following in his abs class: * planks * leg lifts * this exercise where you lean against a wall, slide down, walking your feet out until you are sitting in an invisible chair with your back…

That's why I don't know if I'm supposed to pay this person. I assumed the person wasn't an official "trainer" but since I'm not paying anything for the services, I wondered if it was required. Consensus here seems to be no.
-
Not really. Because I know I was eating huge amounts . . . like 2,000+ calories a day before I started tracking. MFP says I should eat 1200 calories. That's a huge change so if I go over I still see it as an improvement over where I was and my overall choices are better. I'm not going to beat myself up when I ate too much…

The logging was a huge eye opener for me. I was appalled at what I was taking in every day & how empty most of the calories were. I used to drink a lot of sugared soda. Over the years I gradually cut down. Every Lent I'd give up the soda & suffer through the caffeine headache. Now I try to make different choices. I reach…

It's not quite that simple. Or maybe I'm not understanding. I log each ingredient I put in the blender. The ingredients vary. However, they consistently result in the creation of 2 drinks. I suppose I could try cutting the ingredients in half.

Muscle weighs more then fat. Have you spoken to the trainer about this? You are paying this professional for his / her expertise.

It's probably better than most of the other things on McDonald's menu. Can you make a chicken wrap at home & take it with you?

He's not an obstacle to my desired changes but he could be more supportive. I have asked him to walk with me after dinner; he doesn't. I have begged him to bike with me; he doesn't. I have repeatedly offer to buy him golf lessons so we can play together. He has no interest (& clubs are too expensive for me to just buy some…

Small steps. Try "playing" with your kids. Can you all go for walks together? If you get them involved, this can end up being a family bonding activity.

You can get almost anything here in the US, especially if you are in the big cities. Depending on how long you are staying, invest in a small cooler so you can always have cold water w/o paying $2 per bottle & pack a few snacks wherever you go. Although they aren't the best, granola bars travel well. Also you should be…

Good for you! I'd be dead if I tried to walk 9 km lol

Grilled chicken sprinkled with ranch dressing seasoning which only has 5 calories per teaspoon (the powder not the liquid) & lots of steamed veggies I made a vegetarian mixed vegetable curry last night. Can't say it will be a "go to" but it will become a staple. I got to have a huge portion. My husband didn't miss the…

Walk around the block. Do something healthier for yourself. Drink your water & move forward. Last Saturday I think I drank 1300 calories at a 4th of July party.

I'm finding that smaller meals throughout the day & a lot of water help. Make sure you have something healthy / low cal to snack on that is readily available. If possible, get the bad stuff out of your house. I have been having breakfast, then keeping a granola bar in my desk for mid morning. I eat lunch, then have…

Count the calories but celebrate your good decision to eat something healthy rather than junk. When you look back at your diary & see all that fruit rather than chips & cookies you will have proof that you made the Lifestyle Change. My "problem" with the fruit entries is the sugar not the calories.
