I started dieting as a kid as I didn't like the one place I was larger... 20 years later and a squillion yo yo diets I ended up big everywhere.... I'd do anything to go back to just having a big butt and when I get there I've promised myselfI 'll appreciate my good points, keep living well/healthy and not sweat the odd…

Y'up spiky massage ball for arch is fab for PF but doesn't sound like PF as Achilles not usually in the mix.

Thanks - I can't be the only singleton on here can I?

KORFBALL - mixed sex team - ball sport with similarities to basketball/handball/netball - regular training and matches and knowing will let the team down if I don't go keeps me committed. Also love classes... anything with other people suffering alongside me ;0)

Your daughter sounds like me... have yo yo'd all my life and eat to celebrate/commiserate/cheer up. No good telling her the obvious! If she is unhappy fresh air and exercise will do her mental state the world of good. I think focus on health not weight and the same outcomes will be achieved. I find exercising makes me not…

Walking home late at night (early hours of morning) from the station to my car (sober) and having a group of late teens/early 20s (all female) laugh at one of their group shouting 'OMG you are SO fat, that's disgusting' at me - when I was dressed in new clothes and had enjoyed a really lovely evening, and for once felt I…

Lots of people rave about 30 day shred... I only made it 3 days though as didn't have time around my other [preferred] exercise in the evening and am SO not a morning person, but thought had potential... I also have lots of the '10 minutes' DVDs which are often in HMV sales for fitting in around life. Really enjoy…

Mmm, Twiglets is a good one - yummy - don't often see mini packs though? Will keep my eyes peeled! Well worth pointing out whilst 'judging' supermarkets that I am in mini/local versions and I tend to hit 'lunch area' and nearby aisles before escaping, so when I say Boot's Shapers is limited, mine is a small store and only…

Sure, all the best. So... this is fast becoming my go to shopping list for future reference so excuse me talking to myself but I'd still love continued ideas from others. Think logging food just makes you really take a look at what you're having and I seem to be switching away from a main and a side for lunch to a…

Thanks to Lauren3101 I went back to M&S in search of the duck wraps - didn't find them but did find beef/pork/tuna (thank you Lauren!) - so today's low cal but yummy mission was M&S. Tomorrow will do this mission in another store... For lunch I usually do one main (salad/SW) a side (edamame/sushi), a snack (popcorn/low cal…

Whilst I wish you luck, I definitely don't want to go down the shake route.. I'm making changes for life, and I don't see me drinking shakes for lunch for life... I love food, and variety (buffets are dangerous for me! ha) I know lots of people it's worked for short term though so all the best.

Thanks all... y'up must admit getting me hungry too haha. Just to say I don't make lunch at home as I shop daily (for lunch and dinner) so I don't have tons of food in the house that I'll scoff and also it is the only thing to make me leave my desk.

Thanks for ideas - y'up might try buying salad bowl and adding meat or buying roll and sliced meat/boiled egg - snack pot houmous also good thank you. Just gutted Waitrose stopped their 100kcal ideas as they were inventive, tasty, filling... (I like variety!) obviously every 'diet' can be fulfilled by salad and crudites…

I definitely walk faster than I run haha! It's not about the time for me. It's not even about weight loss as for me that has to be the food. I just want to learn to get past the mental barriers I've had in the past as I've always done above average in other sports [and still regularly compete in team sports]. Great to hear…

Well done Hogan - let's hope I make it to the 5K!

I gave up for 6 months (from 2-3 cans of DC a day) following a 10 day detox holiday in Thailand, had no withdrawals, felt no better, lost no weight - and it meant I couldn't enjoy my Malibu either! [and I drink so little alcohol I wanna enjoy it when I do!] Aspartame haters aside, I saw no benefit to quitting and actually…

Yes I am back to counting, though it is the act of logging rather than calculating that I think works for me, and if my count is over but I have eaten healthy options - by this I don't meet low fat/low sugar packaged/processed foods, I mean lots of veg/fruit and good quality meat/fish or healthy grains, then I won't be…

Thank you all - very helpful! I think slower loss, close to something I can live with may work better. Will give it a go!

Thanks for all the thoughts but I guess these are my key Qs. - can you lose weight at 1500kcal per day if recommendation is 1200? - those who never fell of the wagon, what helped you? - those who fell off the wagon, how did you get back on and stick with it?
-
I eat back some/not all as I think some of the estimates are ridiculous e.g. there is no way I lose 900+ calories training for a sport similar to basketball for 2 hours. Usually I would say on 1200 I eat back around half unless I think the estimate is more realistic then I eat back all. But on 1500 I may not eat back all.…

Ah sorry it asked me that the first time around and I didn't recall it. My profile says 'Sedentary' - I am desk based all day.

By BMI i'm pretty much dead... hence the 1200 calculation - a nutritionist also said 1200 but short-term it worked and long-term I failed (again) so am wondering if 1500 more realistic to lifestyle change. I am not sure what 'activity level' means but I entered 6 hours a week at moderate if that answers your Q?

Thanks I think I've been scared off by reports of them not knowing anything about it's long term damage i.e. is it just breaking up fat or also doing something to other cells etc... shame I fancied a boost to my other efforts.

Hmm the replies in the other topic are not very encouraging but seem to be talking about something far more evasive... I was looking at this: http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/west-london/fit-vibrations/5944086?nlp=&CID=UK_CRM_1_0_0_142&a=2280

I agree some playtime is allowed for a night out if you log it, recognise it and yes (for me too) in the main, make up for it with some extra workout(s) BUT it's good to know that I don't actually enjoy over-eating cr@p for the sake of it anymore! Thanks for encouragement all.

I once gave up for 18 months and apart from craving it constantly I didn't notice any difference at all and I certainly didn't lose any weight. I took it back up and I didn't put on weight. If I want something sweet (a cake, a biscuit etc.) a DC kills the craving with far less calories. If I want an odd night of…

If I know I have a visit to somewhere special where I'm bound to want to order old favourites (I'm talking nice restaurants/great cooking not fast food rubbish), I force some extra activity into the day before/day of/day after and allow myself a night off but plan my menu for the rest of the day/next day to ensure it is…
