I log everyday but look for the trends. I dont freak out over the daily movements but I look for the longer term trends.

....oops I am in the wrong forum!

Try none and see how your weight loss goes

(1) Your won't tell your doctor your true way of eating (because they are clueless about nutrition), although all your results are within normal ranges. (2) Although everyone looks at you like your crazy when you tell them what you eat and they say that sounds un-healthy in a group setting, those same people pull you aside…

Been there, am there. But I no longer get frustrated, I look at where I started, where I am. It took a long time to get over weight, now I have to give it more time to get down to where I want to be.

Yep, this is a sign of the water replacing the fat in the fat cells, I had this happen it was so weird, within a couple of days it went away and the scale number dropped. I actually look forward to this happening again, it could mean another Woosh is coming. I have 17 pounds to go (down 30 so far) to get to my ideal…

Before I got the Ketostix (which are not the best to determine if your in Ketosis), I knew I was in Ketosis when I had a massive amount of energy, but had not eaten for a long period of time (12, 18+ hours). Once you start seeing the scale and waist measurements move down you know your in Ketosis, your burning fat. You…

My opinion it is water being held by the body (if the calories and macros are as you documented), keep at it and the body will release it. I have gone 3-4 weeks with no weight movement and then in one week a 4-5 pound drop. this has happened several times, so I do not get excited over no movement on the scale anymore.…

Eat a 500 calorie deficit, but workout like hell for the two weeks. You won't be malnutritioned and you will tone and or bulk up. Win win in my opionion

I track it in a spread sheet. Two weeks ago my bmi was 26.5 and fat 22.3. I won't measure ever week. This week. Bmi 26.5 and fat 21.7. My weight went up 193.5 to 194.1. I have incorporated more weights into my workouts

Awesome sounds like solid information and good advice!

Great Point!

I did say "it is what happened to me". I was stating that this helped me. I will most likely stay off these communities going forward, seems less of a place to share your story and what works for you than, give others a different way of looking at things, help motivation but more of a place to bash anyone who posts an…

Awesome story @brittyn3 . Great take on what happens to some out there on their journeys to improving themselves. So glad to hear you kept at it and knew your body better than the trainer.
-
@fascha True! I assumed that people who get discouraged do have some time under their belt and needed a moral "keep going - you can and are doing it" would want a suggestion on how to look at it a different way. Clearly the majority thinks otherwise.
-
Ok Ok Ok...if I could I would simply delete this post. It worked for me! If I simplied relied on the scale I would be discouraged since the scale says I am stalled. Even though I have been in a calorie deficit, I log everything into MFP, I weigh my food on scale. I use a BMI/Fat monitor and see that everything is still…

This is the best post on the thread! YES - there are alot of variables in our journey's. So do not rely simply on one means. It is absolutely true that CICO is the only means to lose weight, lose fat. But even during a CICO deficit you can/will run into a situation where the mathematical formula doesnt show on weight…

But should they? That's all I am saying and trying to say keep motivated don't let the scale stop you. You could be making progress but the scale is making you feel otherwise. It is often water retention that the scale will discourage some when in fact they are making progress. It's not a scale weight people are seeking…

Yes but two that measure something other than weight alone.

I like you accounted for inflation! Yep a trend app for the scale could work but again it's tied to the scale. I knew a person who lost a dress size at the same time the trend app showed a weight increase.
-
That's perfect @Ironandwine69

Not so rainbow. The closer people get to their ideal weight the scale will be more of a lying enemy of their progress. And if you have been on these boards you will see so many new to the weight loss journey get discouraged and give up after a perceived stall. When in fact they are still making progress but the scale said…
-
Exactly!!! You are so correct about the scale and hydration levels.
-
Then I guess there are absolutely nothing out there to help you to get away from the scale numbers. Sorry. Works for me though

When I was younger and more hair - Tom Cruise. Recently Billy Bob Thorton (Ouch!)

Awesome great job

I was a big Ken's guy then I read the label. Full of cheap unhealthy oil

Yep I am a gent in the same boat. What used to work very easily just doesn't have the same effect. But I am down 30lbs and 4 pants sizes. So if I step back and think about what I have accomplished I don't get discouraged about stalls anymore. I bet if you looked at your progress you will proud too and know if you stick…

Yes, back in those times babies were left behind with the Sabre Tooth Tigers and Woolly Mammoths stampeded the villages. It gave time for the adults to run.

Lost me after the first paragraph.
