Happy birthday @katharmonic ! 10k today, planned easy run but it was too cool to run easy. We’ve gone straight from “sweat through a singlet” weather to “wearing sleeves and shivering until you warm up after the first couple miles” weather. Last night we had our first freeze. Oh well, at least all the mosquitoes are dead…

Wow, what an accomplishment! I read your post on the NSV thread and really admire you! I lost 125 lbs and for me most of the loose skin is my lower belly. After four years waiting for skin to shrink I have mostly accepted the fact that this is what I look like now. I gotta say though, if you can find new clothes which…

I log more loosely on low calorie foods. Nut butter, probably better weigh it, otherwise I have a tendency for a “tablespoon” to creep larger and larger. Broccoli, meh, log it the same as last time, it’s probably in the ballpark. If you want to lose without logging vegetables, you can always try leaving a couple hundred…

@martaindale Glad you weren’t hurt worse! I always try to catch myself and end up with skinned palms - and of course might break a wrist someday, it’s a dumb thing to do. My husband, who was an Airborne ranger, instinctively rolls, which isn’t always the greatest idea ever - he ended up with a huge gash on his back once…

In for November! I haven’t read anything, gotta go back and catch up. No mileage goal, goal is to do three runs a week, long run at least 10k, plus speed/hills, and trails. Today we tackled Chuckalissa again and got a new PR on the loop. I am proud of myself, I ran all the downhills which I had thought would be impossible…

Ran in costume yesterday, I was a dragon and my husband was Captain America. Only 5k because we had to get back for trick-or-treaters. Hardly any this year. We did pass a couple of large parties while running and got complimented. That’s the month for me, a pretty poor month but I only skipped one planned run, the day…

@CMorning99 Good to hear you and your liaison are getting on. For us the forensics and learning the exact details of death were pretty rough. Hang in there and lean on others as much as you can! @shanaber I’ve been praying for Hobbes, hoping for the best for you all! @swenson19d With any luck the puppies will entertain…

Well, it wouldn’t be my choice, but if it’s working for you, I’m happy for you. Good to hear you are feeling fit for more exercise too!

Still having lupus problems, did 5k easy plus a long walk tonight. Should have been yesterday but I really wasn’t feeling 52 F and raining with a stiff wind. So waited until the rain had stopped. I will have to run in cold windy rain eventually but not right now! I mentioned this on the other thread but it’s too groovy not…

Have you ever had ocular migraines? Your description doesn’t sound exactly typical but it’s the only thing I can think of which would go away with eating.

53, 1993, about 3k, US. We were poor and just barely out of college. We saved a lot by using family rings, marrying in our church, using seasonal flowers, having a friend as a photographer, repurposing church decorations, having a daytime wedding with only champagne, cake, and finger foods, and having the reception in the…

Guys! I have an albino raccoon! My usual lot of troublemakers that live out back were making a lot of squealing and fighting noises in the dark so I stuck my nose outside and there was this strange albino raccoon drinking out of their kiddie pool. I didn’t want him to leave before I got a pic so I bombarded them with…

I haven’t posted in a bit because I am having lupus problems and it makes me depressed. Still having vasculatis, speckled feet, minor pain and aches, and fatigue. Ran my “long run” Sunday which is only 10k easy and it was really hard, at my slowest pace. From past experience it’s a good idea to do whatever I can do during…

We’ve had no delivery issues, and my mom lives way out in the middle of nowhere.

I was gonna say, I feel like doctors should continue to tell pregnant women when they are gaining too rapidly, regardless of whether they like it. For one thing, it’s not information you can assume that every pregnant woman knows - I have friends who gained massive amounts during pregnancy because they had always been told…

We tried it for my mom, who is unable to cook for herself, diabetic, and needs to lose weight. She felt the meals were too small (but to be fair she massively overeats left to herself) and the flavors boring. She liked the pasta better than other options. However, it wasn’t expensive and was easy - just pop in the…

Floors look great! I would love to get rid of my carpet.

Well, I’m going to play devil’s advocate here. For one thing, the longer you stay obese, the more likely you are to have loose skin when you do lose weight. And a BMI of 30 may look great on you - it does on some people - but how fast can you run right now? Do you enjoy physical activity as much as when you were lighter?…
-
You can do it! Five years ago I was where you are now, at the bottom end of morbidly obese. It took me a year to get to normal weight and I have stayed at a normal BMI ever since. When I started I could barely walk to my mailbox, and my weights routine was swinging around some water bottles. Now I can squat more than my…

@Avidkeo sounds really annoying but at this point, you can wash your hands of it - hopefully the outside person will come to the correct conclusion, and if not, you did what you could. @shanaber I hope Hobbes is feeling better and his biopsies turn out good!

Re: the chest press and old injury. If it were me I would want to be gradually building up that injured spot and improving it, without reinjury. Not just neglecting it because of pain. Did the PT suggest any workarounds? Have you tried incline press, push-ups, and other options for chest which might not hurt? If those…

Do you have high blood pressure or another reason to lower sodium? There’s scientific disagreement about the new FDA limits on sodium - in fact studies found that low sodium diets correlated with higher mortality, and higher sodium caused no problems up to about three times the FDA recommendation. So unless you are having…

Have run twice since last post, Tues was 5k intervals, working on recovering from a fast pace without slowing to a walk. Not bad. Walked trails in the wetland area and lifted yesterday, weather was too gorgeous not to get out there even though I don’t run on lifting days. Saw the world’s tiniest snake! Today we tried the…

Never had exactly that but I have wonky knees with all sorts of things wrong - there’s a massive nerve behind the knee that goes to the entire lower leg, and it’s easy to tweak it. Does the sensation go in any particular direction? Big toe feel weird? Do you have any bulging behind your knee? Before it ruptured, my Baker’s…

The bigger question is, what will not doing it cause? And the answer is, maybe death. This is a disordered way of eating and the question worries me, do you have a doctor you are in touch with about your diet? Does your doctor or anyone in your family know you are eating so little?

@julieannegannon Sometimes the hardest challenge is NOT to run when you wish you could! being a runner has all kinds of different challenges! Wishing you well with the piriformis. Re: piriformis stretches - I’m still doing belly dance classes on my rest days, and having a great time, except for one thing - the lady who…

10k easy on the Greenline. First run in autumn weather (about 60 F), a couple of days ago we had a storm come through and before was Indian summer and after was fall. I wish this weather lasted longer, it’s the best! Last night we had to run the heater, it got down into the low 40s. And the day before it was over 90! Now…

@AlphaHowls I’m so sorry. What happens next, are they going to dialysis?
-
@johnisrunning It’s so cool to have a fast person in the challenge thread again, we have had a handful of really fast people in the past but most have taken a break or moved on. I think you are now our resident speed demon! It adds a different perspective! Sorry your race was personally disappointing and I hope your sub 20…

If you know you binge around the time of your period, budget extra calories for that time - people are different but a few extra carbs can really make many people feel better. If you budget it in advance you won’t feel so out of control, and it won’t be “cheating,” just eating. I have a custom exercise entry I use for sick…
