  • Day 10 - Interesting day yesterday. Food - on target. Tried a new recipe, which I HATED! Unfortunately, it was a crockpot dish with many servings (had planned to stock freezer for emergency meals). Also, had ingredients which meant I couldn't even give it to the dog. Unfortunately, the rest went down the garbage disposal.…

  • Day 9 ... All went well. On target with sleep, dmfood and steps. @Mspkmk glad you were able to enjoy the eclipse too. We were both lucky to live in the oath (although I had to drive about 45 min to get to totality) @jonni82014 I like your 'just for today". I am trying to live "one day at a time" and enjoy the present more.…

  • Apr 9 I give up!! TWICE I have managed to hit the wrong key and erased my post. (What I get for doing this on my phone) A bit tired from a long day yesterday. Eclipse was quite a show, despite being a bit hazy/cloudy. Food, steps and sleep all good. Will get back to everyone tomorrow.

  • Long day yesterday. Eclipse was fascinating. Trip down was great. A bit more traffic coming home, but not bad. Purdue gamy, not so good. Finally gave up and went to bed about 5 min in to second half. Good decision. On target with food, sleep and steps.

  • End of first week. Results... SW 172.5. EW 168.2 (first weeks are always good with dropping the retained fluid) Food - Good choices every day Steps - over 10,000 6 of 7 days. 7 day average - 11835/day. @Awegg05 Have to say that having a standard poodle who demands her daily walks is a big help in reaching goal. • Hi everyone. Just came across this group. I have been looking for a "daily" thread to participate in. Reading through your posts, this seems like a good choice. My name is Jan. I am almost certainly the oldest person here (79). I live in Indiana with my standard poodle Abby. I am hoping to finally lose the Covid weight…

  • Day 6 - was a BEAUTIFUL day here yesterday. Amazing how sunshine energizes. Got a lot done in the house, logged 15 000 steps, made good food choices, had a good time with friends watching Purdue win, and slept like a log. Pretty close to a perfect day!

  • @iLive2Walk Have fun viewing the eclipse. I lice in Indiana, within 45 min of the totality. Waiting to see what the weather will be before I decide where to go. Day 5 - food choices good, 11,000 steps (which I got to split into two walks since it didn't rain all day. Sleep was ok, not great. Off to friends house tobelwatch…
  • Day 5 - slightly better weather let me split my steps into 2 walks instead of one, which was nice. We are even supposed to have SUN today!! (It has really been grey here for the past couple of weeks.) Food choices good, sleep ok but mot great. Hope everyone has a great weekend

  • Good morning! Just found this thread, so I this is my first post (although I started on this journey April 1). I am quite likely the oldest person here (79). While I would like to lose the post-pandemic (plus a few more) pounds, my main focus right now is on making good food choices, with an emphasis on an…
  • Day 4 ... good food choices, loooong walk with Abby, fair sleep. No real reason for poorer sleep that I can figure out. One of my motivations for changing my eating habits has been to address inflammation. I have been focusing on an anti-inflammatory diet. While it is way to early to really know the effects, I think this…

  • Day 3 Rain, rain and more rain yesterday. Tried 3 times to walk the dog, but only made it a block or so before having to come home. So, way under step goal. Out to dinner and theater last night. Had a really nice time and made good choices at the restaurant. Excellent sleep. Will be a grey day here, but should be enough…

  • Good morning! Day 2 went well. Healthy eating choices, good sleep. Made my 10,000 step goal, but it was a bit challenging. Rainy most of the day, so pretty much did the 10,000 in one long walk (in gale force winds😟) Today will be challenging as the lousy weather continues and ibam going out for dinner and theater tonight).…

  • Hope everyone is ok with my daily posts. I REALLY need to be accountable and acknowledge my slips as well as successes. For thus month my three goals are to make healthy food choices, exercise daily and get a good night's sleep Day 1 ... Eating ... stayed within calorie goal, although that is not my main focus. Most…

  • Well. I guess starting this journey with a combined holiday feast and birthday party may not have been the best timing! Pretty much nothing went according to plan! So ... today is day 1.2. Not much on the schedule, so will do some homework and try to get two decent walks in ... my dog is very helpful in making sure I get…

  • Hi all. Nce to find a group of older folks who are still motivated to make changes in their lives. I have been through a difficult time for me starting with Covid and then a sequence of other challenges. I have slowly added weight during that period and now find myself a good 25 pounds over weight. Equally important is…

  • Planning a conservative 16-8 with a "normal" diet aiming at 1500 calories a day makes me an outlier. I am a fellow outlier! While I would like to lose weight, I am looking at this as a lifestyle change that needs to be sustainable over time. I am doing 16:8, although I do have two cups of black coffee with 1/2 package of…
  • I drink 2 cups of coffee with 1/2 package of sweetener each 12 hours into my fast and then eat a few hours later. Apparently, the sweetener breaks fast. BUT, this is sustainable for me. I am trying very hard to not become obsessive about this process. I am not looking at this as a diet. Instead, I am trying to make a…
  • Hi everyone. Sorry I am late posting. Unexpected trip out of town to help a friend who was in an accident and needed assistance until family could make arrangements to come. • I'm back :) Took yesterday off. After a couple of days of poor sleep and busy times I found myself in trigger hell ... too tired and too hungry. Full out binge mode. Back on track today. Good nights sleep last night and ready to go today. At least just one day ... a blip on the road to healthier living.
  • @ells_bellz been there before. Getting started back on track always seems so hard. I think @jugar advice is right on target. Just focus on one or two key things ... you can add more later.
  • PW 166.2 CW 166.2 A bit disappointed that the scale did not move an ounce, but at least I am feeling much better, have more energy and my clothes are fitting better. That is all good news! Sun 24,539 Mon 11,125 Tues 16,382 Wed 15,656 Thurs 22,336 Fri 20,422 Sat 22,750 I am also feeling extremely lucky to have dodged the…
  • @ashleycarole86 thanks! My minimum step goal is 10,000. That covers me for the days that I don't ride.
  • @ashleycarole86 ok! That is pretty simple because my FITBIT doesn't register any activity when we just walk, probably because the muscles involved are pretty much core muscles, not limbs. Will join this week ... need to post on the 24th I assume.
  • The heat is getting beyond tiresome! Seems like all I am doing is changing clothes every time I turn around. :Grateful that it is at least bearable early in the morning and later in the evening. @conleywoods Love your tea pictures! Looks like you had a really lovely time. @micki48 Yummy. Love scallops. Lots of worse things…
  • A day without any pain and mo pain meds ... what a gift!! Now, hoping the effects of this injection lasts for a good while. @ashleycarole86 re steps challenge. I track my steps via my Fitbit. Very helpful to make sure I hit my minimum exercise goal (10,000 steps). On the days I ride, the "steps" are a bit wonky. Fitbit…
  • Good morning all. Yesterday was busy with getting everything done before spending the afternoon getting hip injected. The injection was a piece of cake ... much less uncomfortable that when I had my knee injected several years ago. Only discomfort was the quick prick when they did the local anesthetic. So far so good ...…
