True....this is not a short term program but rather a long term life style change. I do not expect to ever leave the cal counting, logging in daily etc. It should keep me on track with the normal variation of ups and downs. The rest will be a personal choice but at least it will be "in my face"

This is especially valuable when planning on eating out. Many restaurants give the calories for various menu items. I found pre-planning my selections helpful in maintaining my daily calorie goal. Worked great over the holidays! Lost weight instead of holiday gaining.

I bought a variety case of Linnies during the holidays. As long as it met my calorie goals it played no havoc to my weight loss all through the holidays.

the benefit of tracking daily is the immediate feedback to correct and formulate discipline when you do slip. Better than letting yourself go for days or weeks before again checking your progress.

goal is 250 by end of next year. Now at 273, so this is doable. Working with nutritionist monthly. She indicates that I have been loosing an average of 8 lbs over the past few months, so exceeding my goal is very possible. Ideal target weight is 205

treadmill or walk in the mall. I can program my treadmill for various speed, incline, miles, steps or time. Usually 30 minutes at the prescribed values established when I went to cardio therapy.

Over 30 lbs lost and I have not noticed. Nor have friends or relatives. This has no impact on me or my non wavering attitude to continue to loose weight. That's whats important.
-
7 days a week on the treadmill. Exception is if I do car repair, cut grass, or other physical activity. Have not felt good for the past few days. so also missed on those days.

I collect them for stats but never consider them in the total cals I should consume.

Goals continue to keep loosing 2 pounds a week. By the end of January this will be 270 lbs.
-
Continue to count as usual. I talked to my nutritionist and she agreed that its important not to extend this holiday eating beyond the one day. It will slow my progress for sure if I go beyond 3000 cals but that may be the case.

If there is any humor at all, I get a kick out of the pre-treatment period, where they go to fast food drive-ins and purchase multiple pizzas.....(I wish I could!!) Then afterwards wonder why their attempts at weight loss are not successful.

I agree to mulecanter's comment on it being a "freak show", but that is in part of using the show as a part of my self therapy. So sad and I do not want to even approach this amount of over eating. It dramatically shows the impact of many years of overeating abuse and the lack of self control. I know as a food addict, a…

You can add me also. Was 310 2 months ago now at 287. Ways to go also. Short term around 240 long term 205. Also working with a nutritionist monthly helps. Getting easier with time, but do not expect the hunger to go away.It takes perseverance and self control. Glad to help if I can......

I agree to all comments above. Its retrospective in that for the most part we all do not have that much weight to loose, and if they can be successful what is our excuse? Thanks for comments.....

Bigelow Constant Comment is my tea of choice. No sugar since I started my diet. During the winter months, this is a great beverage in the evenings. I do not have any issues with caffeine at night

Get a quality digital scale that measures in .2 lb increments. Readings should repeat. I also measure daily at the same time. Charting over a few weeks will reveal the trend that's not apparent in daily assessment. Keeping daily tracking helps in maintaining how well my previous day has worked both in calorie intake and…

My dilemma is I eat out usually at buffets. I have been surprisingly successful at weight estimation before I enter my food when I get home into MFP. At least I still am loosing weight so I know I must be doing things right. No carbs for sure and keeping my calories below my nutritionists target set for me. Cooking weight…

My nutritionist has initially set my cal goals at 2300/day. My last visit let me review how I am doing after 3 weeks. Data shows a decreasing trend although very slow. About a 3 pound loss in 3 weeks. We agreed to continue this for the next 3 weeks to see how it progresses and work from there to adjust accordingly. It…

Money talks and no doubt commercials play a big part in obesity. Same for fast food restaurants. I use this website as well as tracking on excel to see trends. I see very slow progress and will follow up with my nutritionist. Some of this is because of self control and choosing smaller portions. The good news is that…

I monitor my weight daily. Is there a way to enter and track this data? I do not find this for entry tracking?

Hi name is Joe. Just had a triple bypass in Feb of this year. Rehab for 2 and a half months. Gained back the 30 lbs I lost. (feeling better but weak). Seen nutritionist that recommended this site for cal tracking. So far I like it and its not as burdensome as manual tracking.
