  • I dropped 35 lbs (from 202 to 167) in about 6 months, and then dropped an additional 10 lbs during the 6 months after that... all on the free ad-based version. I have never paid for the premium service. I never saw the usefulness of it.
  • That's how to do it... one pound at a time. Congratulations!
  • Thanks for all these suggestions. I had never heard of runbet before.
  • I walk/run about 11,000 steps per day or a little over 5 miles. If walking it all, that might take me 2 hours. This helps me maintain my weight. I lost 45 pounds before I started running/walking so much, so my weight loss was based on managing how many calories I consume.

  • No it is not just you. I feel that way too...
  • This is exactly why I break out fruit as its own category in my food diary. Sure there is inherent sugar in a lot of foods (like dairy) but I'm a big fruit eater so most of my sugar comes from fruit. When I'm checking my sugar for the day/week it is easy to disregard all the noise in the fruit category.
  • I love C25k. Last fall, having not run at all in the past 39 YEARS, I decided to do C25K on my own using Active's C25K app... By Dec I was running a 5K race. I finished at 9:30/mile. Not too bad first time out. Then I did Zen Labs' b210K app and ran my first 10K (in under an hour) in early March--right before coronavirus…

  • Google Fit stopped synching as well.
  • Google Fit not synching to MFP for me, either.
  • This is great advice. Use a scale only.
  • Since it appears you are doing this under medical supervision, when is the last time you spoke to your doctor about your weight loss? Have you spoken to her about the struggle you are going through right now? Since your doctor is aware of your specific needs, as far as weight loss goes, a consultation with her might get…
  • Taking care of my dad in the last few weeks of his 10+ year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
  • This is very inspiring. Looking forward to an update.
  • So inspiring!

  • Hauled my lazy *kitten* out to run yesterday... it was a run and it happened... was it as far as I wanted? fast as I wanted? No. and No. But it is DONE. Rinse/repeat tomorrow.
  • 1x/day
  • If the OP is just concerned about macros/protein this may not be relevant, but... when straining the whey off, a lot, maybe most, of some micronutrients like potassium go down the drain. So the straining does more than just concentrate the protein.
  • The middle pages of the Sears & Roebuck Wish Book. Anyone remember stashing those in ye olde dependency?
  • Really? I would not have expected that either. Have you ever had anything like frozen shoulder? What I like about this is that skating is not weight-bearing on the shoulders at all.
  • I ran 6.65 miles this morning in one hour and eight minutes.
  • Question: The week after your race, do you ease back into your miles, or do you go back to what you were running pre-taper?
  • Race Report: Florence Forth 10K, Durham, NC, USA, 7 March 2020 First, I am so glad y'all are here. I participated much more with this challenge in January but just needed to cut my social media time (in all areas); however, I wanted to come back and tell you about this race. This was my second race, and my first 10K. My…
  • Exactly what I do. Sometimes I use the Recipe function in MFP to enter data for all the raw ingredients and then make the number of servings the weight in grams, so then I just have to enter the weight by grams--and yes I do this for even the small recipes that are not really recipes like making roasted potatoes. If I make…
  • Watching a close relative die of Alzheimer's disease, and realizing that he, as well as a little over half my close relatives, were/are diabetics. There is a real link between AD and insulin resistance. If you are a T2 diabetic, your chances of getting AD double. So I lost weight to get my blood sugar down, and hopefully I…
  • GERD went away, which meant I began to sleep better...HDL went up, LDL went down, blood sugar went from 103 to 77, and has stayed there. Pretty much everything improved when I went from 202 pounds to 167 pounds. My BP did not improve, however, even when I got down to my current weight of 157-160. My BP was pretty normal…
  • I got waylaid by a cold in December but now I'm working on Zen Labs 10K plan and I can't believe I can run for 40-45 minutes with no problem. In fact, I look forward to it. It's hard *not* to go out every day (still taking all the rest days.) The hardest day I think I had was that very first day on C25K. My thighs were…
  • Hey there Mr. Wobbly! I am grateful for all the supportive çomments you give to me and other new runners.
  • I just now saw that someone clicked "disagree" on this. LOL. You can disagree all you want, it does not change my health status, energy levels, or biomarkers. SMH. Since I posted this I ran my first 5K... This was last December, and I finished with a pace of 9'12"/mile. :-) Not too bad for an old guy who hadn't run since…
  • I find this interesting too. I've been a vegetarian, an omnivarian, a meat-atarian, and (ugh) a vegan (for 12 hangry weeks)... The one thing that brought my cholesterol down to a healthy level was getting my weight under control, reducing my BMI from 29+ to ~23. All my health indicators improved, a lot, when I did that. I…
  • ^^^ One of the most measured comments on this thread. Yeah, the American Council on Science and Health is shilling for private industry. But that does not mean eating organic will help you lose weight. Creating a calorie deficit is what makes you lose weight.
