Congrats on meeting all these goals!

Delaying/preventing dementia is my motivation... crossing my fingers that getting more fit will do something about it.

Thank you for all the information. I'm an apple laptop guy but have an android phone. I guess I don't have to be totally platform consistent do I. :-)

Congratulations on Week 9!

Well Sir... thank you for asking. Just finished W7R1 this morning, so I am right on schedule. I'm figuring out that it really is a mental game. How are you coming along?

What kind of watch do you use? I am looking for something on the cheap side so that I can preset interval alarms.

Thanks!

Thanks for the encouragement. Mostly I have been concentrating on my posture (trying to keep face forward, not down), on how to land on my midfoot, and on my breathing (four breaths in/four out in time with my feet)... oh, also, on trying to make sure my shoulders are not too tight. I feel like my brain is pretty busy now…

I really do appreciate this group. Y'all are all such an inspiration. I'm a complete newbie...still working on C25K (and right on schedule)...but I've been thinking about cadence a lot, since I read somewhere that people should run at 180. Is that a hard-and-fast rule? What is a good way to find out what my cadence is? And…

Excellent. A ten-minute mile sounds fast to me.

W5R3, done. Felt great afterwards too... don't know why I was dreading it so much now. It was cold this morning though... about 40°F (4.4°C) and I'm still in running shorts. I need to figure out how to dress for the cool weather b/c I think 40°F really is my lower limit for shorts and a tee shirt.

Sept Start: 158.6 Sept Goal: 158-159 Sept Actual: 158.2 Oct Start: 158.2 Oct Goal: 156-158 10/04: 158.04 10/09: 158.32 10/10 to 10/16: Travel 10/18: 161.4 Ugh. Back to where I started and more. And I'll be traveling again the last week of the month...to NOLA. Let's just see if I can maintain exactly where I am right now, I…

Wow. That's inspiring.

Don't betray their confidences.

Cambria. Bingo! I have been running all over Fiscalini but this is from the Bluff Trail. :-) @shanaber I plan on running here one more morning, tomorrow maybe around 7ish. Are you in Cambria now?
-
Unfortunately this last place is very temporary. I'm just visiting an old friend in California for a few days. Wednesday I'll be back home. :(
-
It is. I'm visiting a friend in California. Next week I will be back home in NC, but there are nice places to run there too. Maybe not as spectacular, though. I'm realizing now that this may be an unexpected benefit for me with this running thing--it gets me out to see places I may not see otherwise when I'm traveling. And…

Goal: Work on C25K and finish this month at W7R2. Today I completed W4R3. A pic of today's run is attached.
-
Sorry about the puncture. Have you tried installing tire liners? I don't cycle any longer but when I did, I used these and never had a puncture: http://www.mrtuffy.com/product-line.html Congrats on W7R2!
-
W4R3 done.
-
Excellent! Congratulations on finishing week 6. I'm getting a little concerned that W5R3 is coming up soon for me. Maybe if I can make it over that hurdle, weeks 6-9 won't look so scary to me... W4R3 is my next run.

Sept Start: 158.6 Sept Goal: 158-159 Sept Actual: 158.2 Oct Start: 158.2 Oct Goal: 156-158 10/04: 158.04 10/09: 158.32* *Traveling for almost a week, starting early tomorrow, so I'm posting a little early this week. Finished W4R2 today for C25K.
-
This coming Friday. Thanks for asking. I will post a pic for that one too. I'll be on a long-planned trip to see an old friend so I'm not sure where I will run yet. Are you running this week @TheMrWobbly?
-
My spouse gets back pain when walking a lot. I think it is incidental to an auto accident. So, I'm following this thread out of interest b/c I would like to know how to help someone in this situation.
-
As promised, I have attached a photo from this morning's run, W3R3.

Oct Start: 158.2 Oct Goal: 156-158 10/04: 158.04 Looks like my body may be adjusting to C25K. Also, I have decided to start recording my ten-day moving average, instead of my day-of, weight.
-
I'll have to post a pic from my run tomorrow.
-
@adampeart 3W2R done. It feels like this plan is moving too slowly... OTOH, I had a fun workout today and it did push my fitness limits. Plus I'm still injury free. :-)

Speaking of rain, I have never run in the rain but I can't say I think it would bother me. (When I was much younger I was in a high school marching band and our band director took pleasure in making us march in the rain for hours during band camp...just to prove we wouldn't get hurt and the instruments wouldn't either,…
