Pre-MFP my mistakes were that 1) I first thought I could out-exercise a bad-for-me WOE and 2) I reacted to that by then going on an extreme diet, eliminating entire food categories. WIth the first mistake I did not lose weight. With the second, I lost a pound per week for 12 weeks but was resentful the entire time and then…

Oh gosh, I can understand why you would make that suggestion, but the mom could just use that as an invitation to see the OP's calendar and become even more meddlesome. Ugh. These folks sound like they need a firm no, to me. ("When is good for *me*? How about never, does that work for you?" lol)

I'm an omnivore but I love me some vegan recipes from time to time. I think whipped aquafaba feels more like meringue than whipped cream, though some folks use it for the latter. One thing to watch with whipped aquafaba: my experience is that it does not last long in the whipped raw state so cook with it immediately or, if…

Ugh. I feel for you since I am in the same boat. After losing about 40-42 lbs I have entered a plateau. Persistence is going to be very important for me. Good luck!

I *love* grapefruit and peel it/eat it like an orange. Is it just me or are grapefruit tastier in the winter?

I was at a FBG of 103 and an A1C of 5.2 last year. After losing about 15% of my body weight, my FBG went down into the 70s and my A1C went down to 4.9. Half of my close relatives have DM and my father was prediabetic for decades before he died of Alzheimer's* so I am trying to get in front of this as aggressively as I can.…

I don't know if I can keep you accountable but add me, and that way you can see my diary if you want. I had 50 lbs to lose and am down about 40 now.

I lost 5 lbs in the week after I got back from a long vacation abroad... a measure, I think, of how much water retention there was from my trip. As everyone else has said, between the salty food and the actual stress of traveling (lack of sleep in planes/airports for me, for example) with resulting increases in cortisol...…

Agree. I like kale, but I'm from the South and my grandparents had a farm: I ate tons of collard greens growing up and both kale and collards are in the acephala group. So I tend to eat kale greens the way I do collards, which is to say: 1) I buy them from a local organic* grower, who has 2) picked them young, while they…

It depends on the amount of exercise I get each week. When losing, I try to make sure my calorie *deficit* does not exceed 3500 calories per week. This is because I am nearing the end of my weight loss plan. Before going on my current maintenance break, my deficit was about 2500 calories per week.

THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS^^THIS I cannot click like enough for this statement. You do not owe anyone an explanation for why you can or cannot do something for them.

Doing a maintenance break for the next few weeks but putting a placeholder here to follow. I will be back! Thanks for starting this challenge, @brittlb07.

Well I am traveling again and do not have access to a scale. I may not be able to weigh myself for the final weigh-in next week so I think I will just take my last weigh-in from two days ago as my final one for the challenge. I said I would be happy anywhere in the 159-163 range and 160.4 is good enough. I'm trying hard to…

I weigh daily, and then use that data to track a 10-day trending average. I find this feedback very helpful.

Good luck! I am in my mid-50s with 50 lbs to lose and I am down 41 so far. It can be done! You will get a lot of great support and advice here.

I've lost 38 lbs so far (since Oct 1 2019) just by eating a little less and moving a little more. Looking back on these past few months, even with reductions of 250-500 calories per day most days, I've been getting 230+ grams of carbs every day. Most are complex carbs from whole foods but I have also gone weeks on end…

Well that's embarrassing. I pasted in my data wrong. Here is the correct version: 04/29: 166.0 05/08: 166.2 05/19: 165.5 05/29: 167.2 06/05: 162.6

I will still have some work to do after this challenge also. Is anyone going to create a Labor Day challenge for when the July 4th challenge ends?

1) A supportive partner 2) Coffee 3) Comfortable walking shoes 4) MFP 5) Scales: food and boddy

Ditto what all the nice folks above said. 7 days ago I came back from 3 weeks in southern Spain where I inhaled massive amounts of fried seafood and cold beer. I was not able to weigh myself regularly, to account for any water weight gain, but I think I actually lost weight--because I walked my *kitten* off. You'll be…
