C25K is, indeed, a gentle introduction to running for many people. Concerning the foot fracture, have you gotten feedback from a medical professional on your new running program?

1200 calories, mostly in the form of my own homemade chocolate chip cookies... I mean I did have to taste-test some, and then the broken ones could not be wasted, and then I had to have a few performative ones when I shared the others, and then...

@Scott6255, @kgirlhart, @quilteryoyo, @rheddmobile, @hamsterwheel6, @TheMrWobbly, @shanaber, @Teresa502, @emmamcgarity, @LoveyChar: Thanks for all the supportive comments! I'm trying to stay off social media until the 2020 (although I will probably still be logging food here on MFP...) Here's to a relaxing injury-free…

I'm sitting here looking out at the dreariness of the day myself. I will psyche myself up and get lost in it soon, I hope...

Ditto. It is always better to be safe than sorry. And it is good to know what the issue is for sure and have it taken care of.
-
I hope you start feeling better sooner-ish than later-ish!

What kind of exercises are those? I have to admit I have not started any strength training or stretching program (though I do do the 5-minute walking thing before running to warm up so I don't run cold....) Is there a 10-20 minute series of basic body-weight strength exercises you would recommend?
-
Oh man! That sounds painful! Has your PT given you any exercises to prevent that or work through it when it happens? I had never heard of a saline sweat test before, that sounds pretty interesting. Is it in conjunction with a blood test on serum sodium/potassium levels?
-
Sorry it was tough, but it sounds beautiful. I may have missed this in an earlier post, but was this a dog+human race? That would be pretty sweet. Also, what does it mean to say a trail is technical?

Congrats on the win, and even better, the PRs! I love that cookie. TBH, I would run 3 miles just for the cookie, it is that much of a trigger food for me. :-)

Thank you sir!

Thank you! Yes he did! There were only two people in his category though, lol. Although when looking at the stats it did occur to me that, even though there were fewer people >50 years old, the old folks can be pretty serious about training. They're some of the fastest people in the race. ETA: As far as podcasts I usually…

Oh gosh I missed this... I hope you enjoyed your birthdays @shanaber and @scott6255 ! @greenolivetree I think you are right about running with other people. That is not something I have done yet. Part of the issue I think is that I had planned out my coming year in a way that demands I hit certain goals at certain times.…

Motivation, sigh. I finished my C25K app pretty well. I'm a mid-50s guy and had not run since, dear lord, I was 15 yo or so in 9th grade gym class. At the end of C25K I was running at a pace of 10'36"/mile, which I think is pretty decent, considering my age/experience. I immediately started the bridge to 10K app, and went…

Oh gosh. I am thinking of you and hope you recover fully and quickly.

December Running Goal: 50 Miles Where am I going/Where have I been? Spent the past few months trying to build up my running base/endurance. In a week, I will have run my first official 5K. Woot! In January I plan to go to my local Fleet Feet to start training for a spring HM, then continue to train/race at the HM level at…

Nov Totals Walk: 125 miles Run: 42 miles Kind of went off script from Active's 5K to 10K program, since I mostly just want to put more miles under my feet instead of working so much on speed work. But I am up to running 45 minutes at a time, which is about where one gets in the fourth week of that program.
-
Being able to run for 45 minutes and feeling good about it later.
-
That one is really hard for me.
-
Completed my walking/running goals for the month. Walked 100 miles, ran 36 miles... and still have some month left. I'll probably end up running 42-45 miles for the month. Finished my C25K program this month and am well into week three of the 5k-to-10K program. All that and I remain injury free.
-
Your mileage just astounds me. How long did it take you to work up to that type of mileage every day?
-
Yeah, a lot of things just came together yesterday. Maybe I should make next month's goals more aggressive? I'm still not sure how much I can do every month. Looks like you're doing really well too. You've come pretty far in the past year.
-
Did you let your daughter know you were psyched to go to the Dallas Arboretum?
-
How did the recovery run go?
-
Whoa, I am *ten* *pages* behind. Congrats on all your races folks. And also... good on you folks you who are listening to your bodies and letting them recover as needed, despite your addiction to running. I am definitely getting into that addicted phase myself, so I can see how that would be very challenging.

Still working on my 10K training plan. Also, saw my doc for the first time since I've been running and my BP is now at 92/58. It had been 120/70 (before and after…
