Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and sometimes oats (by cross-contamination). There is no reason not to eat gluten unless you have been diagnosed with something like Celiac disease or a gluten allergy/intolerance.

You actually can have too much water. It's a condition called hyper-hydration/water intoxication. Most normal, active adults don't have a concern though. Nearly all deaths related to water intoxication in normal individuals have resulted either from water drinking contests in which individuals attempt to consume large…

I agree with the above poster that the working out and eating better is making you healthier. I don't know if I would have been so snarky about it, but to each their own... I think what you might need to do is take a look at how much you're eating and where those calories are coming from. I can't see your diary so I can't…

That's awesome!

lol, if you're from the South, gravy can be white. Ask any Southerner.

The cool thing about the human body is that your liver can adapt and produce a little of the bile acids that your gall bladder should have been producing. Now, that adaptation takes awhile so eating a low fat diet is extremely important because those acids that aren't being made help break down fat.

I don't think you can really have too much as long as you are getting enough of everything else - fruits, vegetables, fats, grains, other lean protein. Soy is a source of complete protein so that's fabulous for you.

Actually it's the FDA that sets those standards. Food companies just have to follow them or risk having their product being pulled from the market. I work for a food manufacturer, and I do the labeling for our products. We have to follow what's called the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21. There is a section in there…

A prenatal vitamin is different from a regular woman's multivitamin in the following ways: - more iron (a non-pregnant woman of child-bearing age requires about 18 mg of iron per day, a pregnant woman requires about 30 mg) - you can absolutely overdose yourself on iron, so if you're going to go the prenatal vitamin route,…

One of the biggest things for sodium is processed foods like those chicken fingers you were talking about. Try cooking for yourself more and eating less processed food, and you'll end up with lower sodium. Other tips: - Always buy "no salt added" canned foods when possible. When not possible, buy "low sodium" or "reduced…

I wish I lived in PA now... :-) That's awesome that you are willing to share with everyone though.

There is nothing wrong with natural sugars because along with those comes vitamins, minerals, protein (in the case of milk) and so on. Eat your fruit!

The article does state that it doesn't have to be expensive. It mentions how 95 cents worth of bananas provides enough potassium. And it talks about how people need to know how to get good nutritional bang for their buck.

Beans and mashed tofu are soft. Try using tofu as "meat" for tacos and having soft taco shells.

It's Greek yogurt which is higher in protein. Also, Chobani doesn't add artificial sweetners to their yogurt like Yoplait or some other companies.

I have protein bars, almonds, oatmeal, fresh fruit, Vitatops (I like the CranBran), yogurt, green tea, and chocolate soy milk. Come rifle through my desk and I think you'll find something you'd like! :)

Find something similar. I'm not passing up good food just because I don't know the exact calorie count! The ones on packages are rounded anyway (I work for a food manufacturer, and I make the labels for many of our products so I'm not just spouting off on this one). So just guess! :)
