Absofreakinlutely! Tracy Reifkind videos on youtube are great too. That being said - the best workout is the one that you will do. Try going to the library and see what is available to check out. Try before you buy. I've got so many dvds sitting around. Tae Bo, Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper, Art of Strength (great…

My flipbelt was just delivered this afternoon, so I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. It's a polyester & spandex belt with slots to put your phone, money etc. I'm wearing it now with my phone inside it and once you have it on you could easily forget that it's even there.

Me too! A chopped up apple, some cranberries (fresh or frozen, not the dried sugar filled kind), cinnamon, some protein. MMMMM!

Hello! Thanks so much for the invitation to join the group! I'm Mary, 45 and from Southern Wisconsin. My husband and I have 2 wonderful daughters, and I have worked from home since our oldest was 6 months old. It's a challenge balancing everything; work, household, helping out at school etc., but it is so worth it. I've…

I'll second the kettlebells, and also my running shoes! That sounds so odd for me as I spent so many years saying "I can't run".
-
All of the above - and spray them with a supersoaker as you go by. :-)

Pants sizes vary so much between manufacturers I think they are essentially useless. Did you take any "before" measurements or pictures? Use that for a comparison and I bet you will notice a big difference.

Another convert here. After years of saying, "I can't run, I have bad knees" I did C25K last fall. I'm still pretty slow, but I've done a 5k mud run, a 5k race, and have another mud run coming up this weekend. I took today off since I'm riding my bike to town today to have lunch with a friend, and I have to say I am having…

Are we ready for the mud? My daughter and I were running yesterday to get ready and then jumped into the river to get an idea of just how cold it will be next weekend. COLD - but not as bad as I had thought it would be.

The wrong "Toad"!! Loved it. At a past job I used to get to go through the job applications. There were always some people who had previous jobs as assistant managers. Or, as they would put it on the application - *kitten* Manager.

There are a couple hundred "Minute of Strength" videos on artofstrength.com.

C25K or any of the other running apps out there (runkeeper, rundouble etc) really help. I started running last fall, and finished C25K poking along at about 14-15 minute miles. Moving on to this year - I ran my first official 5k last month: 34:40. This morning: 5k in 34:04 You can do it!!

Agreed. You won't get any of the benefits of a kettlebell workout with the three and five pound kettlebells included with it. Take a look at Tracy Reifkind's book The Swing for a good place to start, or check out her videos on youtube. She has a great one on how to choose the correct size kettlebell.

Tomorrow is the last day to register at the $45.00 rate. Also, if you put up one of their race posters and email them a picture of it they will send you a code for $10.00 off. I just registered today with my sister and my daughter. It's going to be tons of muddy fun!

@ lgs 31?

Just did my first 5k yesterday and finished in 34.40. Not a great time for many, but it was a great time for me.

I've used a Hot & Sour soup recipe by Tyler Florence that was really good. I never manage to save it so I just do an internet search for it each time. Last night I made a Creamy Fresh Tomato Basil soup. I think it was Ina Garten's recipe. That was awesome too. We also love butternut squash soup, and vegetarian wheat berry…

Kettlebells. You can do cardio and strength at the same time.

Great thread! My first 5k is next weekend. I'm trying to just treat it as close to my regular run as possible. Same clothes, I'll take my phone to have the rundouble app and music going, and probably take my own water bottle. My hope is to finish with no walking at about the same time that I have been going this week. (Ok,…

Abso-freaking-lutely!! I don't have a problem with nutrition standards for school lunches. But at the end of the day - how much can you expect from a cafeteria setting with a cost of around $2.50/plate? If "we" (as parents, as a community, as a country) don't want to have this type of governmental interference, "we" need…

45, but I'm a lot "younger" now than I was in 2005 when my "before" picture was taken. I can't believe it took me so long to realize how much fun it could be to be active.

The Madison Mud Run is about 5 miles. The route is shown on their website. One of the walls shown on their facebook page looks darn near impossible, but that was from a past race. I don't know what the obstacles will be in October.

Yesterday was so much fun!!! Loved the rope climb and the bouncy climbing thing. My sister wasn't too thrilled with me when I put a mudpie in her hair, but it washed out (eventually).
-
I either give it to my daughter or leave it in the fridge til it rots. :-)
-
#3 is fantastic!!
-
Great job!! I haven't done my first yet - shooting for the Cheese Days Chase in September. I'll be a lot slower than you were, but it will be a start.
-
Half hour of kettlebells this morning - about 300 swings and 200 snatches. One hour walk this evening.
-
45 here and can always use more friends!
-
Bump - gotta try this!
