  • I LOVE seaweed! If you're making seaweed salad, use wakame seaweed. For a simple recipe, I love it with rice vinegar, sesame oi, and low sodium soy sauce. Sometimes I'll also add it to lettuce, along with avocado and tofu as a meal. Again, for the dressing I usually use sesame oil, rice vinegar, and soy sauce, although…
  • Thanks for all your replies!! I guess the mind plays mean tricks on us!
  • I find the more protein I have at breakfast, the fuller I am throughout the day. I too wake up hungry. I've been eating greek yogurt, fruit, and a soft boiled egg every morning for breakfast and it (usually) keeps me full until lunch time. (Unless I eat breakfast at 5am, which does happen a couple days per week.) I know…
  • You do realize you can get peanut butter that is just made of peanuts, right? It's just as "unprocessed" as almond butter that is just made of almonds... I prefer almond butter only due to a matter of taste - it's much more mild tasting than peanut butter, but I love peanut butter too!
  • I eat the peanut butter ones when I have a craving for peanut butter and chocolate... I'm not sure how healthy they actually are. I treat them as candy bars.
  • Some work on a sliding scale, so you might be able to find one within your budget. Ask around for recommendations though. I used to scoff when others would suggest that I see a chiropractor and assume that I just needed to stretch more or strengthen my muscles more (which I needed to do, but a good chiropractor will also…
  • I started seeing a chiropractor for my sciatic and back pain. He saved my life...
  • Thanks for posting this! This place looks great! I use the JCC at Bloor and Spadina, but a change is sometimes nice!
  • Hi! I don't really have an answer for you. I've recently gotten back into running after a two year hiatus due to a knee injury. I tend to get severe lower back pain if I over do it at the gym, whether through running or anything else. It's possible that you've just pushed yourself too hard.
  • Welcome! I had a very similar experience. I started on here a few months after my 29th birthday when I realized that I didn't want to be where I was then (weight and health-wise) by the time I'm 30. Although I won't be reaching my ultimate weight goal by my 30th birthday (I still have about 15 more pounds to go and there's…
  • What's the difference between banking calories and "taking the meal off"?? Of course you can bank your calories...
  • They should be up front with the cost at your initial consultation. I've never heard of it, but I just looked it up (I'm also in Toronto). It claims to be covered under OHIP, but then it gives a price quote, so I'm not sure what about it is actually covered. Also, if you have extended health care benefits through…
  • I'm going on holiday next week. My plan is to eat at my maintenance calories while trying to make healthy choices, but also allowing myself to indulge a little... (I'm going to Germany for a week - there are so many yummy foods and beer!) I'm taking my 3 pound weights with me and plan to do 30DS in my hotel room every…
  • Thank you for sharing this! You look incredible!!
  • Canadians and Americans say "take out." The rest of the world uses "take away."
  • I suffer regularly from migraines. I usually get a few throughout the year, but over the past month and a bit I've had one more often than not. I find doing any cardio exercise makes it worse, so I usually wait until it's completely gone before returning to my normal routine. It's not ideal, but it's better than the…
  • You can't. She needs to get over it.
  • I usually give myself a couple of weeks to see how something is working. However, I also base it on how I feel - if I'm hungry, then I'll eat more. And just to clarify, the 1500 calories includes exercise. If I ate 1500 and didn't exercise, then I'd gain weight. But I'm really short...
  • I'm not sure why you think 1200 calories creates a 1000 calorie deficit for everyone... I am 4'11. My BMR is 1288. If I ate 1500 calories per day, I wouldn't lose any weight. I eat around 1100-1300 calories a day and exercise daily and I've been steadily losing about .5 pounds per week.
  • I do this too! I usually switch it up every 10 minutes and go backwards for 2-3 minutes. It seems to avoid the numbness.
  • Did you look at what this person ate the day before? I know I will sometimes eat over my calories for a day or two and then under for a couple of days. Perhaps that was all this person was doing and it was probably just easier for her to delete you rather than spending the energy on justifying it to you, as someone whom…
  • I have a few pairs. Usually they have lycra in them so it makes them easier to fit into. They're super comfy and the only jeans I wear in the winter because it's easy to wear them with boots.
  • Try herbal tea? That helped me curb my desire for sweets after dinner...
  • Perhaps it depends on how you say it. As others have already mentioned, if you say it sort of jokingly or in passing, it might be okay. If someone is eating fast food constantly, then they probably know it's not so great for them. Same goes for a one off fast food meal or half a pie...the person was possibly just having a…
  • I once had a roommate who played an accordion. She insisted on practicing at all hours. It was a looong summer...
  • Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure she says at the end of level 2 "see you tomorrow"... I've been doing it 3-4 times a week and I spend longer than 10 days at each level mostly because I also belong to a gym and do other stuff, but even if I didn't, I don't think I could take her voice daily...
  • As someone who has experienced unsolicited advice from "friends," I think that unless your friends specifically ask for your help, I wouldn't offer it. Also, consider whether what you're finding is a one off thing. (Perhaps she/he ate that McDonald's Happy Meal or that pizza after being really good for last month...)
  • Hi there! I live in the Annex.
  • I'm 4'11...sometimes 5'! Feel free to add me. I'm always looking for fellow shorty friends!
  • Running is great for cardio (and it tones too!). If you're not a runner but have an ipod, try C25K. I (think) it's a free app... You can also find workout videos on youtube (and apparently Netflix in the US has some). Use water bottles for weights if you need to. I'm a big proponent of yoga for "weights," since the poses…
