I'll be cooking and will make healthier options, but in general I try and build up a bigger deficit the days prior and just watch my portions the day of.

I buy unsalted sunflower seeds by the case. Most of my snacking is just boredom, so a couple handfuls of seeds will keep me busy for a couple hours and have relatively low calories.

I'm a lapsed hunter. Every year I think I should get back into it, but haven't pulled the trigger yet! I do fish still - hoping to get some walleye fillets for the table this weekend!

I make single servings overnight in a mini crockpot. 1/4 cup oats, 1.5 cup water, cut up apple, cinnamon and nutmeg. It's like eating apple pie for breakfast.

I just got a Garmin Vivosmart HR. It's my first and I like it. I'm in cardio therapy and they hook me up to a monitor while exercising and the HR rate is consistent with what their monitor reads. 48yrs old and my 2nd time here, recent cardiac bypass patient so I'm especially motivated this time around. I try not to eat my exercise calories, but will occasionally eat some although no more than half.

Laziness. I get tired of planning dinners, trying to figure out healthy lunches that don't consist of the same thing day in and day out. If I don't have a plan, I order takeout or fast-food. I didn't pack lunch today and got a grilled chicken caesar wrap for lunch. Instead of chips or fries, I got raw veggies and fruit salad for a side.

I've had off and on success with weight loss, losing some, gaining some. I had to have a double bypass back in July and never want to go through that ordeal again so I'm back to lose it all this time.

I absolutely understand. It is incredibly daunting when you look at that number! Like others have said, set small goals. I get overwhelmed by all the planning - right now it seems like I think about it all the time - planning meals, planning exercise, etc... I know it will get easier though. Feel free to friend me.

I just met with a nutritionist and she recommended that I set mine at 45% carbs, 25% protein and 30% fats.

I save some calories for night and I eat unsalted sunflower seeds most of the night. It keeps me chewing all night while eating a minimal amount of calories.

In July I became a member of the zipper club (double bypass surgery) and never want to go through that again.
