I have the Freestyle lite and love it! Unfortunately my insurance will not pay for their strips. They will only pay for GE meter strips - they are crap! About 1/4 of them error out. I use them for my morning and afternoon tests. They will only pay for 1 test a day, but do send a few extra (probably to cover for the crappy…

Feel free to add me too! Was diagnosed in May of 2011 with A1C of 13.6. Last A1C in Oct of 2012 was 5.9. Am on Metformin and Victoza. Have lost 60 lbs - 20 more to go!

Where the heck is the "like" button!

Dr Oz may have been respectable back when he was actually practicing medicine, but now he is just a slave to his sponsors. Everyday he has a new "miracle" supplement or diet. It irks me to no end when I see him spewing his "wisdom" on any outlet that will have him. Its bad enough that he has his own show, but to see so…

I made this Roast Beef dish in the crock pot on Christmas Eve - it was wonderful! 1 3-4 lb beef roast (any cut will do) 1 pkg Brown Gravy mix 1 pkg Ranch Dressing mix 1 pkg Italian Dressing mix 1/2 c water Mix the dressing mixes together. Place meat in crock pot, sprinkle mixes over top (can sprinkle extra around). Add…

Up 4, but like many others I think its just water. Back down 1.5 yesterday, another 1 today.

Unfortunately the reality is that Diabetes is a progressive disease. What we are doing to keep control today may not work next week, month, or year. But we have to keep working at it and can never give up! Sounds like to have a good doc who does not make you feel guilty for the progression of the disease.

I'm in! Love the Shred!

I am 5'1", 158 lbs. Need to get down to 130. I am on here every day. Would love to have anyone as friends who need some support and will give some back!

I usually only drink diet soda once a week and it hasn't effected my blood sugar, but everyone is different and you need to find what works for you.
-
Linda, it does get easier with time. Best thing is to educate yourself, learn what works best for you. Everyone is different, so while you can glean some information from others, you need to find your own road.

Looking to add some new friends for the new year so feel free to add me. Have lost 50 lbs so far and have 30 more to go.

Parents are in a tough spot. If they haul off and spank the kid like it needs they could get accused of abuse. Its happened! Personally I would have hauled the kid out of the store (no going through the check out, just leave everything there), put him in the car, driven him home, and put him to bed.

We buried our smallers pets and planted a tree over the spot. With our larger dogs we cremate, then plant a memorial tree. Cremation is relatively inexpensive in our area. So sorry for what you are going through. They are never with us long enough.

My question is: are you eating low carb or no carb? I am on low carb due to diabetes. But I have oatmeal for breakfast every day. It is the highest carb thing I eat all day, but it gets my day started better. If I eat a low/no carb breatfast (eggs, meat) my blood sugar is higher at the 2 hr mark than when I eat the…

That's pretty low sugar target. I'm diabetic and my daily goal is higher than that!

I bring a low carb/low fat tortilla wrap and some lettuce in a baggie, a foil packet of either tuna or salmon, a little container with 2 Tbsp of lite mayo. Mix it all up and do the wrap! Sometimes I will bring a couple of hard boiled eggs to chop up or a seafood snacker (individual serving of the fake crab legs). Easy,…

Tick, tock, tick, tock, watching that damn clock! I need to make it to 3:00 Then I am off to Rite Aid to buy a case of Mike's Hard! It'll take me 3 months to drink it (I limit myself to one a week), but its on sale so worth it.

I've just started going through mine. Got all the casual stuff pulled out to go to Goodwill this weekend. I really hate the thought of all the money invested in dress clothes going to waste. But I dispise garage sales and even the though of e-bay or something like that doesn't appeal to me. I'll probably just end up giving…

I need to put this on my fridge!

First off you posted that you just started MFP a couple of months ago. All this change - obsessing over food, not logging but losing, not logging then gaining, etc - happened in just "a couple of months" . You need to take some time, make some positive changes and stick with them. As for this past weekend's gain? You ran…

When I was diagnosed my A1C was 13.9 - my last one (a week ago) was 5.9. It takes time and commitment, but it can be done. It took me a year and a half to get that far down. As others have said: make your health a priority! Personally, I no longer eat potatoes, rice, pasta, or bread. I stick to 100g of carbs per day. Some…

Add me! Add me! I've been on here for a while - am on everyday and promise to be a good friend!

Collies! We have 4 so they get to rotate on who gets to (they say have to) walk with me. Some really seem to enjoy it, others act like we are on the death march!
-
Really good suggestions here. It sounds like this is a problem for alot of people. I think mine is from end-of-the-day stress. I like to "indulge" in some sugar free jello - a real comfort food for me! Also I try to eat dinner as late as possible.

You need to get out now! This is a family that is going nowhere and you don't need to be a part of it. If your husband wants to be part of your life the first requirement is a job. No job = no wife. I know this is harsh, but unless you want to continue living this way you need to make harsh decisions!
-
I give you credit for committing to riding that darn bike! I have one and dispise it! I am a walker. Really enjoy getting out for a nice long walk. I average 3.5 miles a day at a rate between 3.5 and 4mph. The only way to lose it is cutting back on calories and exercise. I have been on 1300 cals for some time now. Have…

Ditto and well, ditto! Tell us more about what you have going on.
