I have two daughters (age 11 and 9 1/2). In this process, it has been unbelieveably important that they see I don't eat "weird" food or limit myself to "weird" types of food. I eat foods that I prepare for the family to eat, though in measured proportions. I still don't like brussel sprouts and do tend to have larger…

Thanks for sharing your story.

I'm not one to put too much personal information out on the internet for the world to see, but I do open my diary to my MFP friends mostly for accountability. I've noticed my friends are nosy and that is good for me because it's another motivator for me to make healthier choices about my foods. When they tell me "well…

First thing's first.. don't give up. I agree with another poster, fiddle with your carb-to-protein ratio. Read sites online about what works for different people. I use 35/30/25 (C/P/F) and it seems to be working. You're body will change and will need different things at different activity levels. MFP doesn't set you up…

I weigh everyday, but log my weight once a week (Fridays). I pull out the measuring tape once every 3-4 weeks (esp when the scale doesn't budge and I'd like positive reinforcement).

Listen to Dan!! Don't overreact to the 6 lb gain.... you haven't upped your calories enough to gain 6 lbs in one week!!! Your weight gain is due to something else. Take time and effort to figure it out

ditto!!!

you gave her a non scale victory and she gave you the gift of inspiration... congratulations to you both...

Polar FT40, made use of the food scale that was collecting dust and have worn out a few pair of Saucony that I need to replace soon.

Do I understand things right? Your goal was to lose 101lbs and you have 21lbs to go, meaning you've lost 80 laready?!?!? That is a FANTASTIC job. It seems that on the whole you know what you're doing. You probably also know that these last pounds are definitely harder to lose than the first pounds. Play with calories a bit…

If you don't eat your burned calories, you're then creating too much of a calorie deficit and your body will soon become stubborn and hang onto the fat you're trying to lose. If you're timid about eatting those calories, start by eatting half of them back. By all means, if you have a hungry day, eat them all back.

Looking forward to getting to Middlesex this summer, have heard good things about The Marriage Plot.

Finishing The Paris Wife for book club... then can't wait to dive into Fifty Shades of Grey for me:blushing: ...the The Other Boleyn Girl for book club.

Just stick to it... that's the secret. Eventually, you'll hold your plank longer and one of your two left feet will turn out to be a right foot and muscles will shake less. Don't give up.

I usually hit stop when I've completed my cool down walk, about five minutes. Sometimes my heart rate comes down faster (low intensity run) and sometimes it comes down slower (higher intensity run). Cool down, in my mind, is just as important as warm-up, but like another poster replied, the HRM is used to measure the…

We might swap recipes and ideas for workout music. We might play a round or two of drop a word/add a word...
I need to improve my macros though to have that balance. Working on protein atm, and struggling!
I struggle with protein, too. I've been adding protein powder to my water and that helps. Though, eventually, I'd like to eliminate the powder in favor of relying less on suppliments and more on lean meats…

Feel free to add me. We have about the same loss goals and am happy to be a cheerleader and a sounding board! Welcome to MFP... I've been here a little over 2 months. I'm also a mother of three and have been with my Dear Hubby for 20 years (spent 6 years together with no rush and have been married 14 of those 20 years).

This is a journey, not a one-time lesson. No hollering (with caps) and no worries. One muffin doesn't knock you off the wagon!

Thanks for the tip. I've never done this eatting out. When at home, I mix my salad an half a serving of dressing in a larger bowl. The dressing gets evenly coated and you don't use nearly as much dressing!

Right... 1lb of muscle and 1lb of fat have different volumes, that's why it is said that muscle weighs more than fat - that one lb of fat takes up more space in the body than any 1 lg of muscle. If you have equals volumes of fat and muscle, the weight of the muscle will be more. Why in the world do people have problems…

You have 666 more calories to eat to reach your goal of 1240 calories on the day. You have eaten 999 calories so far and have burned 425 calories from exercise, therefore you are at a net {calories eaten (income) minus calories burned (expenses) equals net calories (net income)}. For your current goals and input, MFP has…
