As I don't like running, and my knees hate it I decided to do a couch to 5K but in the pool rather than running. Managed a 5K swim none stop a couple of weeks ago after only being able to swim about 100m none stop at the start of the year, (but you have just added me as a friend)

I would go with the advice of a professional who has seen you in person and knows your situation.

It is all about motivation and what you truly want, not what you think you want because the logical side of you says it is what is best but what you want deep down. For a lot of people, myself included, it takes thought and motivation not to eat to excess. I think that a lot of people who stay at a healthy weight without…

After 1 ACL replacement and 3 operations on my right knee and several spells on crutches because my left knee stops working I think I qualify for bad knees. I have found the elliptical a great cardio machine at the gym and swimming is an amazing calorie burner plus it tones your arms and upper body.

After discovering protein fluff I would count that as a normal food. It is going to be a regular part of my diet for a long time to come.

There would be a table force feeding those who have hit a plateau.

It would not be a for ever thing, scales really help with portion control. Once you have used them for a while you get used to what things approximately weigh.

Stop snacking at night. It is not a true hunger message, just think how long you go between meals during the day. I found that stopping snacking at night was hard for a few days but when I broke the cycle the false hunger massages stopped.

Eating more makes you lose weight. If I knew this when I was eating more my body would have obeyed my knowledge and I would never needed to go on a diet.

Anyone ever thought that diet coke is a flavour choice? It certainly was, and is for me.

Missing out for one year is going to help me stick to my weight loss and help me get towards a healthy weight range. Although a one off treat will not make much of a change, for me a one off treat will highly likely turn into a daily or weekly treat and slow down my weight loss.

Is it ok to have fizzy water?

Your choice of protein will depend on what you want it to do. I have quickly become a very big fan of casein protein. It is a slow release protein so more suitable as helping with a general base level throughout the day rather than the quick post workout boost that whey gives you. Again it is a milk product so is fine and…

I think the word cheat is better than splurge. It sounds a lot better when you say "You are only cheating/splurging on yourself"

I have read a lot about HIIT http://www.gymboss.com/hiit-workout.php I have just started to change my elliptical time to a more sprint (170 steps/min) slow (100 steps/min) pattern. As I have only started doing this I have not got a clue regarding any benefit this is giving me. One thing I do know is it makes the time go a…

a change in your average calories per day will give you a change in weight as things like sodium levels change. But from what you are saying, I take it you are usually under 800 calories per day and not losing. If this is the case I think that you would benefit from face to face medical assistance rather than the general…

On the whole you lose weight in the kitchen and get fit in the gym (or wherever you do exercise)

So far as your weight loss is concerned its down to the good old equation. (Calories in - Calories out)/3500 = weight change in lbs To throw some general numbers at this, say your calories out is 2,000 per day (around average for a moderately active woman) Sunday thru Thursday you stick to a healthy diet and eat 1,500…

Thanks, yea that is 75lb since 4th Jan, faster than I planned or expected but I am not complaining, and the doctors are happy with how things are going.

If your body is storing the food when you are under 1200 what is it using to keep everything going? Pixie dust?
