  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/323393-marshmallow-cake-81-cals It's a pudding but amazing. I have tweaked it for my own taste to 4 egg whites whipped up to stiff peaks. 2 packets (enough for 2 pints) of flavored sugar free jelly (think that's jello in the US) 1 flat tsp of xanthan gum dissolve these two…
  • What I have found useful is recording some of the workouts from the fitness channels, deleting most of them straight away, but there have been a few that I found put things at a good pace without doing silly dance moves that should never be attempted by any dads.
  • As a general rule if a pill claims that it turns fat into muscle I would avoid it. I am sure most people know that you cannot turn lead into gold, the fat into muscle claim is the modern version of this.
  • Guinness is good for you. It says so in an advert so must be true
  • At the start of the year I was bulging out of my 60/52 suit (chest/waist), after I had comments such as it looks like I was dressed as a clown, and I was wearing my dad's suit I tried on one of my dads suits. It is a 54/46 suit and was a comfortable fit, albeit slightly short on the arm.
  • I don't think we are experts but, for me, I have tried several things that have not worked before what I am doing now. I would say I am a weight loss failure expert, and by not doing those things gives me some knowledge on successful weight loss.
  • There are no magic cures it takes some tough will power and the want to get healthy has to be greater than the want to eat junk.
  • Do you not remember Mad Lizzie. In the 80's in the UK they had fitness people doing routines with phrases like "pretend to dust, come on reach up high"
  • The best thing to ward off a cold is a big stick and use it to beat away anybody who comes near you with one. NB. This gets more difficult when it is your wife or kids with the snots
  • I googled some of the forwards in the 6 nations (rugby) they were all on or around 30 BMI. The BMI is something that attempts to be a one size fits all solution.
  • It depends what you want to track. If you want to track calories burnt it is probably better to set your daily activity low and track everything from the lighter activities through to heavy workouts. If you want to track exercise to see how you are doing in terms of cardio then set your daily activity level to a suitable…
  • 1 stone in a month is possible, but how reasonable it is depends on your current situation. If you are obese and can exercise regularly then 3.5lb/week is ok. For most people up to 2lb/week is a typical rate but remember you will probably lose the first bit quickly as your water weight decreases as your diet improves. As I…
  • Self control, don't put the junk in your mouth and you wont eat it. If you try and substitute bad for good you are going to still be used to feeding your cravings whenever they pop up. Once you have lost your weight and relax your eating you would be more likely to revert back to choosing the junk food rather than beign…
  • That would certainly make an exercise routine fun.
  • I have been upping the speed/time I have been doing the cardio. This was good for a bit but trying new things has helped a lot. I really find running difficult, but forcing myself onto a treadmill at the gym has been an enjoyable challenge. My calorie burn has dropped by about 400 doing 1 go on elliptical and 1 on…
  • 6'2" Starting weight-396 Current weight 326 3XL XLong T shirts have not bought a new T-shirt yet (although I am getting strong hints that I should) Trousers were 52 and tight now 46. I want to get to 234LB (BMI 30)
  • I know this is an old post, but have to tag for reference
  • Is it brown like brown sugar or brown like cocoa? There would still be loads of suitable foods, chilli, flapjacks, chocolate bars, fruit loaf etc. if it does dramatically change the color.
  • The 80/20 rule is key there. So often obese people will go out and have the 20% with generally fit people but then rather than going back and having the majority of the 80% in private they will head home and have more junk in large volumes in private. Nothing wrong with what you are doing but I think it is vital to stress…
  • I am having so much fun losing the weight I might put it back on again so I can lose it again.
  • I read a study today that said if you stop eating red meat you will reduce your chance of death by 18%.
  • Since I have started eating healthy and going down the gym I have lost 70Lb and I can now lift more than I could at the start. When I mentioned to medical people (doctors and nutritionists) as well as gym trainer that I was thinking about dropping the strength training to allow more time for cardio as it burns more…
  • I think the point is that you can do something even if you do not have an hour or three spare to go down the gym or for a long run/bike ride etc.
  • On loads of food packets in the UK it is stated that the RDA for a woman is 2000 calories. So adjusting things for height, weight and activity 1,800 should give weight loss for most woman. 1,800 calories is higher than most diets but then its lower than what most woman eat when not trying to lose weight. You should get a…
  • I hope you get out of the dip. One thing that really stuck with me is what someone said about 15 years ago. You need the lows to experience the highs. As for the weight, your binge (3500 calories) is 1Lb of weight, so unless you did that three times over before hand you have not put on 3Lb of fat. When you up your calories…
  • almond milk or hazelnut milk are great options if you want to drop the calories and usually use semi skimmed milk. Tesco have a new free from range that includes coconut and chocolate flavored milk alternative that is the same calories as semi skimmed milk.
  • It is great on its own, but if you want some ideas here is a link to the world porridge making championship held in Carrbridge, Scotland. http://www.goldenspurtle.com/
  • is this an 80's nostalgia thread. There used to be loads of diets like that kicking about.
  • If the med students cant sort out their exercise or diet routines what hope do the rest of us have when we go to them for advice.
  • If you like doing crafts your old clothes could be a good source of material for bits and bobs.
