Add the bar weight. That's how it's done.

Sure it will work. But you'll be losing muscle along with the fat. Which means you won't be as happy with your appearance when you get to your goal weight. And, very little calories usually means fatigue, so you're risking being tired all the time. In addition, some people experience hair loss, brittle nails, skin issues,…

The trick is not to let one small issue turn into a deal breaker. Instead of giving up, work through it. There will be problems. There will be times that you eat too much, don't exercise like you should. Times when you don't lose much weight, times when you don't lose any at all. There will be times when the scale moves in…

Most doctors advice that you can continue doing any exercise you were doing before you got pregnant. You just have to watch your heart rate and not let it get too high. Of course, the closer you get to your due date, the more you'll have to slow down. I would ask your doctor for specific advice.

I have yet to see anyone post a success story where they credit their weight loss to diet pills. I also have yet to see any scientific proof that these pills are effective.
-
This. Try to get adequate nutrition every day - you know, your lean meats, healthy fats, whole grains, fruits, veggies, etc. But enjoy other things if they fit your macros.
-
And my point is that niceties and over the top positive confirmations aren't a magic pill either. What works for some might not work for others. Therefore.....people are entitled to their own opinions and means of expression.

Rest is just as important as the exercise itself. Take at least 1 full rest day every week. 2 if you feel you need it.

That is her point. She didn't kill herself over an off the cuff comment - which is not bullying. She killed herself because she was bullied which is much more serious. People who cry "bully" because someone said "Don't do that, it's stupid." are the ones making the horrible comparison.

And anyone who doesn't like her style of training can feel free to change the channel or not hire her as a trainer. Some people do like her advice and methods though. She's been successful and the Biggest Loser is pretty popular, so you can't completely discredit her. Anyone who doesn't like advice that I may give (or the…

So would you prefer that the people who have achieved success not post that doing these unnecessary things is a waste of time and/or potentially dangerous?

I definitely understand the difference between sarcasm and wit. I appreciate both, respectively. And you just don't seem to understand that not every views "being helpful" in the same way that you do. That's ok - we don't all have to share the same outlook and opinion as you.
-
And I've found on my 455 days here that you can eat well over 1200 calories and still eat healthy. Sorry for your struggles. I would offer advice, but I don't think you'd want it.
-
Lol, ok. I'm pretty sure that anything I type here I would say to someone IRL. If I had a family member complain to me that they couldn't eat 1200 calories and they were going to eat 800 to lose weight faster, I wouldn't hesitate to tell them they were wrong and what they were doing was actually bad for them. I would even…

Another vote for getting fitted for shoes. Go to a running specialty store and get the shoes that are right for you.
-
I fail to see how this was douche-y. Honestly, I don't. It really is mind-boggling to see someone say they can't manage to eat 1200 cals but yet they are significantly overweight. Maybe that comment set off a light bulb for someone.

I don't eat foods I don't like. I'm picky - I'm not a huge fan of a lot of veggies. That said, I eat quite a bit of the ones that I do. I structure my diet to make sure I'm getting plenty of the foods I need with room left over for the foods I want. Preplanning helps a lot.

I disagree with this. I have changed my stride. I used to heel strike, and now I have a midfoot strike. My shoes also correct my tendency to roll to the outside of my foot. Normally, I wear out the tread on the outside of a pair of shoes first. On my last pair (that I just replaced), the tread was only worn off on the…

Some people do better with tough love. It may not be for you, so just skip that response and go for the advice that you like. That's the thing about the internet - it's pretty representative of real life. You won't like everyone and you won't like what everyone has to say, but we're all entitled to our own personalities…

We wear the same shoes! I just got done with a pair of Brooks Ghost 5. I'm rotating between the Wave Rider 16 and a pair of Newton Gravitys. I tried the Saucony, but didn't love it. I've not tried the Asics though. I might slip a pair of those on at my next fitting just to see.
-
Typically, you know they need to be replaced when they start to hurt your feet. My last pair started getting uncomfortable in the midfoot area. I did a relay run and got a blister on the ball of my foot. I only ran 4.4 miles that day - so it shouldn't have bothered my feet. But since my shoes were breaking down, it was…

Are you cutting your calories too low on the other days?

You're doing great! Good job getting started :) My current 1 rep max stats are: Squat - 265 DL - 265 OHP - 100 Bench - 115 Row - 90 Edit to say that I'm 5'6", 181lbs and I've been lifting for a little over 6 months. Also, it's awesome to see what everyone else is lifting, but remember that you only need to work against…

Find something you like to do. Then it's not torture.

Having a strong core doesn't mean you'll have visible abs. My core is incredibly strong, yet there is still fat there. Weight loss will take the fat away. My arms and legs are also strong, yet still covered in fat. Most power lifters (who are moving massive amounts of weight) don't have visible body builder type muscles.…

You can't spot reduce fat. We are all genetically programmed to carry extra fat in certain areas. Some women carry it on their hips, some in their midsection. All you can do is keep losing weight.
-
Just suck it up and go. It will be fine.
-
Another vote for this.

1. Get the Couch to 5K app. It's a great way to get started. 2. Get fitted for running shoes at a running specialty store. 3. Don't worry about people staring at you. 90% of people don't care and the other 10% don't matter. 4. Sign up for a race a few months out. It's great to have a goal to work towards. 5. HAVE FUN!
