  • I've maintained my original loss for about 18 months now. I fluctuate within 5lbs of that mark. I don't really log my food, but I do eat the same foods routinely, so that helps with my portion control. I have a fitbit and I exercise a lot. I think that's mostly the key - I workout at least 5 days a week, so I have a higher…
  • Overeating on any food will make you gain weight. Even healthy food. You need a calorie deficit to lose weight. You don't need to skip meals, or give up carbs, or anything like that. You can do this on a budget. Read this to help you get started:…
  • ^This wasn't a smart *kitten* answer, and the link has a lot of really good information. Sorry it's not what you want to hear OP, but you're not going to find miracles on the MFP forum. Just a lot of people encouraging hard work, patience, and time.
  • ^This. You don't have to give up your favorite foods to lose weight. You just can't eat all of them all the time. What helped me with that was this idea: They are making more food every day. I have a car, money, and a grocery store nearby. I don't need to eat half this cheesecake now, because I can get another one on a…
  • OP - congratulations on your weight loss so far and best of luck moving forward. Although, I don't think you need luck. I'm pretty sure you have all the necessary ingredients for success already.
  • Definitely get fitted. I started out in Brooks and I've made the switch to Asics because they work better for me. But that doesn't mean they will work better for you.

  • ^This. Can I run as fast as some of my friends? No. Can I run as far as some of them? Nope. Can I do more than I could last year? Yes. Do I enjoy it? Absolutely. Run for yourself, not for some lofty definition of what a "real runner" should be.
  • I love cheese and have some every day. When you weigh and measure your food, you can eat a portion that fits into your calorie count and macros.
  • I like Nike+. Mostly for the facebook part. I'm an attention *kitten* like that.
  • Squats, deadlifts, lunges, and good mornings are all great lifts for your legs. If you're looking for a routine, I'd recommend looking into Starting Strength, Stronglifts 5x5, or The New Rules of Lifting for Women. They are all great programs and a good way to get into strength training.

  • Here's the thing - you can eat anything you want. Nothing is going to be deemed "horrible". (and if anyone tells you it is, you don't need friends like that, lol!). Just stay within your calorie goal to start. Eat pizza if you want pizza, eat ice cream, eat chips. But eat the correct serving sizes and only eat them if they…
  • Congrats on your loss so far. That's awesome! But you need to be practical and realistic. Weight fluctuates. You could be retaining fluid from exercise. You might have had quite a bit of salty food. I can vary 5lbs in one day. Throwing a fit and wanting to give up because of a very normal occurrence for most of us is…
  • You can't spot reduce your belly fat. To lose your belly, you need to adhere to a calorie deficit and be patient. Exercise will help produce the end result you want. Focus on strength training with compound lifts.
  • You don't get to pick where the weight comes off from, sorry. Genetics determine that. You need to be patient and consistent. Log all of your food, get some exercise, and wait. Results will happen when you've been committed to doing the work.
  • For years and years now. And they are delicious. But I'd personally get the Pretzel Burger because it's da-bomb. And a small frosty.
  • I'm getting quite a few chuckles out of you telling LiftHeavyAcrylics to squat.
  • Trutein Red Velvet Cake. It's amazing.
  • What, specifically, are you wanting to cleanse?
  • A multi-vitamin. You don't need diet pills. They aren't going to do anything for you except waste your money.
  • Which may be too fast for the OP at this point and time. When I started running 2 years ago, 12 min/mile was too fast for me. I was much more comfortable at 12:30-12:45. Over time, with hard work, experience and weight loss, my pace is now about 10:00/mile for short distances and 10:30/mile for longer distances. Not…
  • Not strange advice at all. 8.2 kmh might not be pushing it for some, but it apparently is for the OP. If she's feeling so badly running faster (faster for her, and that's what matters), then she should slow down. Speed is relative.
  • If you're hungry at night, eat more calories at night. I'm not hungry in the mornings so I don't eat breakfast. I eat lunch, a snack, dinner, and then more snacks. It works for me. It doesn't matter what time you eat.
  • You're running too fast. It doesn't have anything to do with the treadmill. And if you're worried about your form, check out the New Balance program "Good Form Running". http://www.goodformrunning.com/
  • In that case, I have no helpful advice on what you could chew that has no calories, no sugar, and no carbs. I think you're looking for something that doesn't exist. Good luck.
  • Another vote for this. Strong Lifts 5x5 is my top pick. It's short, simple and perfect for beginners. And they have a free app. And if you can't afford a trainer, go to your library and check out "Starting Strength" by Mark Rippetoe and then watch his youtube videos on form. You can teach yourself how to lift. There's also…
  • A stick of Orbit has 1g of carbs, according the database. If you chew 30 pieces, that's only 30g of carbs. I guess I still don't see the issue. And if that's too much for you, why not cut down to 10 or 15 pieces per day?
  • A stick of gum has enough sugar and carbs to ruin your diet?
  • Some of them just suck at dishing out the food. I have 3 within equal driving distance of my house. One is AWESOME and gives you all the food. Another one is pretty decent (although I did not get enough steak tonight :grumble: ). And the last one is lame and barely even fills the spoon. We've been there 4-5 times and it's…
  • I ate a whole burrito bowl for dinner tonight. Because. And I was actually upset that the lady was so skimpy with the steak. I sense that this thread may not align with my priorities. :indifferent:
  • Another vote for this. More veggies and fruits give me more volume for my calories, so I try to include lots of those. But I haven't drastically changed my intake in order to lose weight.
