  • I would love to join. I am 43 years old. I have carried this stubborn 50 pounds around with me for the past 15 or more years. My body likes it. I don't!!:explode: I am very active. I take Taekwondo 3 times a week. I am a black belt. I ride my bicycle every day for about 15 to 25 miles a day. I eat the recommended exercise…
  • There are 3 levels of testing for black belt. I am about to do the 2nd set of tests. So, maybe I will get my black belt by christmas.
  • Hi. I and my 3 kids have been doing ATA Taekwondo for 4 years. They are all red belts. I am Red/black belt. Which is just one step below Black Belt. I am the only adult that joined with their kids (and has stuck with it). I enjoy the workouts, and before I joined, I was never active in any sport. I am more flexible, have…
  • Just wanted to say "Hi" on this thread. I ride a 2009 Trek. I travel about 13 miles on the weekdays after work and 21 miles on Saturdays and Sundays. I enjoy riding, but have no one to ride with. Someday I would love to join a group ride.
  • welcome. I hope that you and I both can make a good change and drop some pounds. It is a slow process, like a steady climb. We can surely support each other here. Good luck to you Leeleeandcate.

  • Julia, sounds like a nice trip. I love visiting Colorado. Hoping to go on vacation next year out in that area. I had a great ride this morning. It was exciting, great conditions, and full of new and funny encounters. Well, to say that the conditions were excellent would have been a better term. The temperature couldn't…
  • I am looking forward to my next ride. Can't ride on Thursday. Too busy during daylight time being a taxi mom for the kids. But, on Thursday, I will have made that big 500 mile total. Woooooo hoooooo!!!!!! :drinker:        I am pre-celebrating. I thought that 500 miles would…
  • I had a house full of young 12 year old boys for the past day and a half, so I couldn't go for a ride this morning as I wanted. :grumble: But after church, I was able to drag my son with me on a short 30 min 6 mile ride. Better than nothing. I am happy to see all the new "posters". Welcome to our motivational club. I…
  • Welcome Jenn! Sounds like fun. Good thing you enjoyed your ride. No fun getting lost. That is why I like to use google maps and get into the panaramic view of the area if I am going to bike a strange area. For those that are interested, I have skinned my road kills (3 total) and they are out in the garage drying. They will…
  • I got in a nice ride today. 21 miles before it got hot. Funny thing, but not for the driver, a cement truck ran off the road on a corner, flipped onto it side. The truck was gone, but the mixer part full of cement was cut from the truck and laying in the ditch still. Does it startle other when idiot drivers drive past them…
  • I started back to work now (2 days). I got home earlier than regular, there was still lots of light....and lots of heat (94 F at 6 pm). I rode 5 miles, rather slowly, with my son. He tired out. So I turned around and did the same 5 miles again for a small total for me of 10 miles today. I guess that I will have to…
  • I have a men's citypaver style bike. That means the handle bars are up in a "u" shape and most of my weight is on my seat. (yet my fingers still get numb.) My seat was killing me too. I have not purchased shorts with chamois yet, but will. I went to my local store and bought a memory foam seat cover. (temp fix) That helped…
  • I made my goal of 100 miles with a grand total of 105.4 miles. Yea!! Glad everyone is out there trying their best.
  • Welcome Karmostx and Louloubell. Glad to have you join us. Today was an excellent ride. 21 miles/34 km. <--- See trying my hand at conversions lol. The sun was hidding in the clouds the entire ride. Must have been less than 85 F so I was nice and cool. Kinda chilly on the fast down hill parts. But, I am not…
  • Clare, It must be a "'redneck" thing. You can tell the age of a rattle snake by the number of rattles it has. Kinda like rings on a tree. Many people like to collect the rattles as a type of trophy. No, they are not dangerous at all.
  • Found a nice 4 foot rattle snake fresh road kill. not damaged much at all. He will skin nicely for show and tell. Bummer part is... the killer got out of his car and cut off its rattles. :grumble: Oh well. .\ My 25 mile ride today was long and I wanted to be done at the 1/2 way point, but couldn't. Welcome Julie.
  • Wow what a ruff week. Between Clare's bee attack and Barbie's hose accident, I am just shocked. I hope that all of you will heal quickly. I will be praying for your quick return. And for everyone out there cycling in our group, to remain safe in our travels. Nice look Panda.
  • being a banana is squishy I didn't strap it down too well and it bounced off. hehe. I was using a bungie cord lol. I guess I need a little wicker basket. lol
  • @ Stu, nice helmet. Thanks lol @ Skywalker, good luck training for that long ride. This morning I ate a piece of peanut butter toast before I left. I strapped an extra water bottle and a banana for my pit stop half way. But, alas, at my pit stop, I had lost my banana. Boy, I was sad and had been looking forward to eating…
  • Oh, I didn't mean to imply that I am not wearing a helmet. As my profile pic shows, I have a nice red one. It is just said that he made fun of me. :noway: My mother-in-law doesn't even want me to ride. She is scared of all the crime she hears about on the news. She thinks that someone is going to stop and kidnap/attack me.…
  • Thanks :-) I want to go for a ride today, but it is my day off for resting. :grumble: I also wish I had a riding partner. My 12 year old just doesn't want to go on a long ride with me. And my husband calls me a nerd for wearing a helmet. No support there either. But I will ride tomorrow.
  • My fear of riding on gravel is the slipping side to side. i can't avoid the 150 foot gravel drive that gets me from my house to the road. If I hit the gravel in a small "dirt" pile, my bike will feel like it is going to jack knife. I guess my fear roots back to my teenage years when I was young and stupid. I road my MoPed…
  • I just finished my 25 miles ride this morning in 2 1/2 hours. Only problem, I ran out of water. Only have one bottle. Need to install another one. Sounds like a fun ride. Hope you enjoy training up for that.
  • This the best advice for riding. I see a car coming at me, whether it is on a bicycle or a motorcycle, as not seeing me and am always prepared to an escape plan. The moment I take it for granted that they will see me is probably the moment before a crash. Just keeping that thought in you mind will help you remember to be…
  • You can go biking in the morning and then call yourself commuting lol. I would have to leave 3 hours in order to get to work, but the kids would not like me coming in hot and sweaty. Now way to shower, plus, I have 3 kids to deliver to various other school drops. Thunderstorm chance scared me into not riding this…
  • I have checked alot of the people's profiles posting here, and many of us (myself included) are in their 35+ range. Don't feel like an old bird. I feel like a 22 year old inside.
  • Thanks, that made me laugh out loud for real. :)
  • I totally agree with the inches thinking. A better judge of my weight loss is not always the pounds, but how are your clothes fitting. Nothing makes me happier than to put on some pants and find that they are too big. I look forward to the day where I get to go shopping again because my clothes are falling off me again.
  • Cool. I made my goal of 90 miles. Next week i will shoot for 100. Ellem, I am proud of you. You keep it up!
  • I had a great ride today. Being a geeky science teacher, I had to stop a mile from my house, find an empty soda bottle (trash along road) and stop to pick up a freshly killed copperhead snake. I love finding nice snake road kill. I will skin it and use it to teach with. I just installed a memory foam seat cover for my…
