  • I have this problem, but even with protein powder, I find it hard to reach my goals. I typically use chocolate Muscle Milk, and mix it in other stuff (greek yogurt, with chia, and so on) so it feels like I'm having a treat. I don't find it filling at all, though, and I have a tough time justifying the calories without some…
  • If you're interested in weights, might I reccomend AWorkoutRoutine.com and a pad/ paper? I use the JefIt app on my phone, but not everyone has a smart phone. I do a rotating up/ low split three times a week - so this week, I might do arms, back, chest/ legs & glutes/ arms, back, chest; next week I'd do legs & glutes/ arms,…
  • I prefer whales to mermaids :P
  • I feel like the idea is that, while it is okay to occasionally work out to cover a splurge, the key word is "occasionally." It's really easy to outeat your training, and it's really hard to out train a poor diet. So, y'know, if you are craving something, go for it. But be aware of habits you might be building - and try to…
  • This! Also, I will not lie: my whole life, I was part of the IBTC, and when my weight went up, I FINALLY had the boobs I always wanted. To the point that I hesitate to start taking care of myself because I was afraid I'd lose the boobs I'd always wanted! And, yes, I've lost size... But if i set out to lose fat, it's kinda…
  • I cannot imagine that you have a reccomendation of 1200 at 240+ pounds. I can't go below 1400 on a no-exercise day without feeling incredibly terrible.
  • Can't sit in my honey's lap anymore without complaints about my tush being bony!
  • On apple slices. With protein powder. mixed with cocoa pwder, coconut oil + milk, and some honey in oatmeal. LOVE
  • I lift, though I wouldn't say I lift "heavy" - I do weekly progression, starting new weight at 7 reps and working up to 15 for 3 sets, and an alternating up/ low split (currently squatting about 275, if my math is right, after several months of a routine through which I lost a lot of strength, I'm just getting back to my…
  • It depends a LOT on how you replace those items, in my experience, and that you remember you still have calories in/ calories out equation to balance. I cut out grains, refined sugars, and beans last year, and I typically do NOT use gluten-free products -- where I used to have bread or pasta, I now have another veggie, for…
  • Better question: what do GUYS want for Valentine's Day? The Manflesh asked me the other day what I wanted, and I was so flummoxed, I couldn't think of anything at all. But now I wanna do something for him thats' special. And guys, I already celebrate the Steak holiday next month, so that's not an answer :P (If you don't…
  • Don't plateaus SUCK? There is a lot of good stuff you've got going on: you're tracking, you're aware, you've been here before, and you're ready to make changes. That's all SO important :) I don't see you mentioning that you've calculated your resting metabolism (you'll see it as BMR around here a lot - it's what your body…
  • I: -- mix it with my protein powder (choclate) and chia seeds - SO yum! tastes decadant, but is good for me! -- pour it over baked sweet potatoes -- make curries -- cook rice in it (SO SO good!) -- use it in place of milk when making mashed parsnips/ turnips/ potatoes/ cauliflower This is one of my favourite resources:…
  • I'm wearing my Vibram Spyridons and tech capris/ tank. I've been told by several friends who've done Tough Mudder and Spartans NO COTTON! LOL.
  • I eat almonds or baked sweet potatoes. makes a HUGE difference for me. dunno why.
  • *snerk* Yeh, it'll make me damp, all right. In the pants.
  • I end up at the gym in make up, because I'm coming from work and I wear make up to the office. Sometimes, I have my earrings in, too. It's not because I give a flying rat toe what someone thinks, it's because it's not worth the hassle to take it all off to meet someone else's standard. I wear clothes that aren't in my way,…
  • OMG, the swipe cluster! hate that! MOVE, PEOPLE. This is NOT where to have a conversation - I have a timetable!
  • For those that complain about cell phones and texting: for what it's worth, I use my cell phone at the gym - that's where my routines, history, trackers, and music live. I'm not eexting, I recording my workout.
  • Nice! (And again, I'm cursing the lack of notifications on board posts. LOL) I love sourcing my food locally - it makes me feel more in touch with my food when I can visit the farm (which I may not ever do, but knowing I could makes a difference to me)
  • This! x100! Make small changes - start with logging. Then see where you can make chagnes. Then maybe you begin to exercise. Then maybe you fine tune. Tyr one small change at a time, and add on over time. It makes a difference. A huge one. The best way to develop new habits is by increments.
  • Right on :) It's not uncommon for folks around here to "need" something... that they don't, so much, actually "need." the way it was worded, it sounded more along the lines of prefering low-cal to actual butter to me. Since you're lactose intolerant, I vote for coconut oil, too. I go through tubs of it in no time flat in…
  • You can totally do that. :) That's called "active recovery," and it's a godsend for me. I am a momentum-based kinda gal - if I take two days off, it's really easy for it to become three or five or a few weeks. Plus, it helps keep me from getting bored, because I know I always have something new coming up that I enjoy. ^__^
  • i almost always work out when I'm sore. It seems like the last thing I'd want to do, but it always helps. I alternate groups, but there's always some full-body something. For example: On Sundays, I go jogging with friends. Monday, my legs and hips hurt (they always have), so I work arms and shoulders in my lifts, do some…
  • I eat real butter and work around it in my calories - I find my body responds better when my food has calories :) It kinda freaks me out to think what's been done to it to make lower calories! *laugh*
  • My gym is a chain with multiple locations - and I use that freedom frequently. So I may not be at one of them for a while; doesn't mean I stopped working out, it just means that I'm working out somewhere else at that time. I use two or three of the locations in my city, AND the great outdoors, and a specialty gym. And I…
  • I think it's hilarious that this is even a question. In India, yoga is almost exclusively a male pursuit.

  • Lovin' the NerdFitness love! Rebels everywhere! Push ups, squats, crunches, leg lifts, planks, and bridge are all things that you can do to exercise at home with NO equipment. Once you master the basics, there are almost infinate variations you can do to make it ever more challenging. Convict conditioning is a GREAT book…
  • it's so hard to watch so many practically living on grains and sugar and NO fat wondering why they're constantly hungry and feel awful :( I want to shake them and say "why on earth would you think that makes sense? Use logic!"
