If you're not head over heels in love with law DO NOT GO TO LAW SCHOOL. I thought about going for a while, and was lukewarm about the idea. Everything I've read, heard, seen, etc. says that you should only go unless you're sure that's what you want to do with your life. If you're over $100,000 in debt now, you'll AT LEAST…

Machines are good to start with. They make sure you're using the right technique. But once you've got the technique down, free weights will be more effective since you're using more muscles to stabilize your body and keep proper form.

I mostly agree. Eating poorly all weekend is going to undo any work you've done during the week. Calories still count on the weekend! I don't deny myself treats though. As long as I can fit it in to my new lifestyle, then it's ok. Some days I'll have cookies, or ice cream and I don't feel bad because this is my life. It's…

I went to a wedding last fall that had a photo booth and did donations. It was great! The photo booth gave out two sets of pictures- one to keep and one to put in a scrapbook that the guests can put together. you can add notes, drawings, etc to your photo. It makes for a great keepsake for the two of you, and guests get…

I'm 5'7.5" and 190.7 lbs. My net without exercise is usually just under my goal of 1630 (though it just recently got knocked down). With exercise, it could be anywhere from 1600 to 1200 depending on how much I did and what I ate that day. (though the last week was pretty bad and I netted over my goal almost every day :( )

I'm 21 and my diary is open!

iMFP changed my calories after I lost 10 pounds, but hasn't changed them since (I'm down 25 now). I'm guessing I'm supposed to just keep them the same and wait for MFP to change them, but now I'm going to look into it and see if it should've been lowered again.

Ugh I absolutely hate these comments!! When I was still a TEENAGER working at Macy's, some guy I was cashing out commented that I was expecting. I honestly didn't even know how to respond. Yeah, I have quite a rotund stomach, but come on! My dad's rule of thumb is that you never EVER ask a woman when she's due or if she's…

wow, MFP is turning into a dating site now too? haha, but here goes anyway Female, 21 Interested in men, age range: approx. in your 20s Located near Buffalo, NY no relocation for me! (though i'll probably be relocating on my own somewhere in the near-ish future)

i accept all my friend requests, unless there's an obvious reason to turn them down (but I haven't seen one yet!). I figure there's no harm in someone adding me as a friend- we're all here for the same reason, and it's not like FB, where there's a lot more personal information on your profile page. I only delete friends if…

I hardly ever wear makeup. Usually I'm just too lazy to put any on. I of course always try to shower, just so I don't walk around all smelly with greasy hair. But makeup is entirely optional for me. If I want to look extra nice, I'll put some on, but even then it's not a lot. The way I see it, I look the way I look and…

it definitely took me a while to notice the weight loss. because we're losing weight slowly (aka the RIGHT way) it's harder to notice than if you lost 5 pounds in a week. i couldn't see a difference until i was about 17 lbs in (of course, i've got a lot to lose so it's harder to notice a big change). most days, because i…

I recently finally got my first bras from victoria's secret too. feels like the biggest accomplishment being able to walk in there and actually fit into things instead of standing around while other people shop!

A lot (not all) men seem to think that they have every right to tell you what they think about how you look, and assume that because you went out in public you want to hear all about it. It's just plain rude, not to mention incredibly sexist. We aren't out there on display for them to whistle and cat-call. And the idea…

What a fantastic accomplishment! I remember getting down under 200 and how amazing that felt. This is such a great milestone and a great move towards better health. Next goal- under 250??

I know exactly how you feel! I was plateaued for most of the summer, and it can be so incredibly frustrating you just want to scream! It's taken me months to lose 20 pounds, and now I'm just going to stop losing weight altogether?? I even tried mixing it up at the gym, changing my meals up a bit. It took about a month-…

That's great! You should be so proud of everything you've accomplished. It takes a lot of hard work to get where you are. I'm still in the "obese" category myself, but working towards "normal" every day!

I definitely noticed it around my waist/ribcage area. I felt like my waist was disproportionately small compared to my hips! Which I guess isn't all that bad... more hourglass for me! But I for sure feel like all the weight I'm losing is in that one area- that's where I've seen the most inches lost. I also noticed my face…

I'm hoping to reach 40 lbs lost by the end of the year- so I've got about another 20 to go until then. I wish it wasn't so hard for me to lose weight! Curse you, genetic predisposition to fat storage!! It's taken me about 5 months to lose 20 pounds!!

I know what you mean! It can definitely be annoying to have to go all the time. I've been drinking more water lately at work and while exercising, but I've always felt like I had the bladder of a kindergartner. I'm on a medication that's got a diuretic in it, so regardless of how much I drink I'm going about once an hour-…

I have the same problem! Sugar is the one macro I consistently go over in... I'm often doubling my recommended intake! How do I cut the extra sugar out? It seems like everything I eat has sugar in it. I'm sure I must be pretty badly addicted to it, but how do I end that addiction? I think sugar is currently my biggest…

I think if you really want to get rid of it, or any fat on your body, it's got to be done through diet. Much like everyone says "abs are made in the gym and revealed in the kitchen," you can build up muscle all you want, but if you're not eating the right foods, there will always be a layer of fat over it. I think the only…

MFP has the system set up so that you are meant to eat back your exercise calories. Some do, some don't. For me, it depends on what I ate that day and whether I feel like it would be beneficial. You said you've been eating 1200 cal/day? Is that exact, or do you generally stay under that? If you're usually under, you might…

Thanks for the input! Almost definitely going to have to return this one. Oh well, on to the next...

I'm a college student majoring in Anthropology (fun, activity, and travel built right in!). But over the summer, I'm an administrative assistant. Gotta make that money!

You seem to be on the right track. You could try Couch to 5K to help you out. You can get it on you iPod/Phone/Pad and it will tell you when to run and when to walk. I started using it (unfortunately never finished ): ) and thought it was a good program. It pushed me without making me go past my limit. It works you up to a…

I don't have the greatest knees, so I definitely need something easy on my joints. But besides that, I feel like I can go a lot longer and harder on the elliptical than I can on the treadmill. I really (REALLY) can't run, so I think that's why the treadmill is so tough for me. But I think the elliptical is great!
