I was talking to my mom about a similar problem- it seems like all of a sudden, I'm peeing all the time!! She said that initially, when you start to work out your muscles retain water, but that after a while, it releases that water. It could just be that you're at the point where your muscles are releasing that water and…

I had a similar problem with my dad for a while when I first joined MFP and started losing weight. I didn't realize how much I was talking about it, but I was really excited to find something that worked and I wanted to share it. Both of my parents are overweight (really, they're at least obese by BMI) and have never…

I think it's really a matter of how you feel- not emotionally or anything, but really just how your body feels. Do you FEEL strong and healthy? Or do you just feel skinny? Do you feel like you have energy? Are you worried that losing any more weight will also make you lose strength or energy? If yes, then don't lose any…

You might want to up your calories a little. See how many they give you for 1 pound a week. That's what I'm on, and I feel like it's a pretty good pace. It might be that you need more than 1200 calories during the day to lose weight without going into starvation mode. Especially if you have deficits- which, looking at your…

don't worry so much. just make sure you stay on track the rest of the week! your body looks at calories more long-term- it considers calorie intakes in weeks, not days like we do. so as long as you stay on track for your overall calorie goal for the week, you should be ok. and remember, it's ok to indulge every once in a…

Definitely hourglass. Even obese like I am now, I have a very defined waist. There's almost 10 inches difference between my waist and hips! And I have very broad shoulders (thanks a lot, swimming), and they're about the same width as my hips, maybe even a little wider, if that's even possible!

I started once, did one day and got busy. I just restarted last week, did two days, and got lazy. I think it would be really good for me to have someone to do it with, someone telling me to go get out there when I feel like just sitting at home and eating snacks. Add me if you want!

By superhigh, I mean low 180s, which made my machine flash a "HIGH HEART RATE" banner across my screen several times. I wasn't short of breath... I was sweating and a bit fatigued, but didn't really feel TIRED. I guess I just feel like my leg muscles can't possibly have developed enough for me to not feel it at all with…

I had a number of moments that really should've been my a-ha moment and weren't, though now i really wish they had been. when i hit 200 lbs after months of telling myself i would never ever ever get that big. when i bought size 16 jeans after i told myself i'd never ever ever do that. when i was eating fast food almost…

somewhere between 130 and 145. I've never been anywhere near that small, so I honestly don't know how I'll look and feel until I'm there! But I don't think I could imagine going below 130. I have a medium build, and broad shoulders and chest, so any lower than that and I'd probably look disproportionate... not cute! lol

That's awesome! Great NSV, especially at a time when flying is getting even more expensive for overweight people (buying extra seats, etc). You should be extremely proud of yourself for this accomplishment!

Thanks so much for all your help!!

My understanding is that they weigh the same (1 lb = 1 lb) but muscle is denser. So it might weigh the same but will take up a lot less space in your body. That's why even if you feel like you aren't losing weight, your clothes might fit better if you've been working out.

I'm 21 and at 202!

got an email from one of those websites that shows you sites from all over the internet. almost deleted the email without looking, but i'm so glad i did! this site is changing my life!! so glad i found it. i'll be here for a looooong time :)

That's fantastic! Really inspirational. You look great!!

don't beat yourself up. like you said, it's your first day! you can't expect perfection right away. i've been on here for two months, and i'm still learning how to eat better! I went over my calories the first two days. you need an adjustment period. I went from easily 2500 calories a day to just over 1700. That takes…

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I can't even imagine what it must be like to go through that. Clearly you're a very strong person if you're already willing and ready to work towards a new goal in your life. Don't be afraid to grieve for a while. No one will blame you if you take a few days off. But just make sure those…

my gw right now is around 140-145, but once i get there i might think about going down to 130-135. but i'm still over 200 at this point and have never been near that low, so i have no idea how i'll look or what the best weight is for my body yet!!

Stick to the ham (or lamb), try to load up on veggies- but stay away with the ones with tons of butter on them! An occasional piece of candy won't kill you, but try not to just graze all day. With a big holiday like this, there's usually food everywhere and it's easy to start eating mindlessly. Try tracking your food as…

haha great NSV! can't wait until my pants are loose enough to fall off!

I get what you mean- teens see food that looks good and eat it all. Diet food can be expensive and it's no fun to find out that your more expensive snacks were eaten in a single day rather than spread out over a week. Remind your kids that just because something is low-cal doesn't mean they can eat the whole box. Maybe try…

for those who are running or doing things like that on st. patty's day (or any day) beer has been shown to hydrate BETTER than water. BUT, only have one (this isn't a free pass to go on a bender). One beer post-run is actually pretty good for you!

I have the same problem with my shoulders... a result of being a swimmer for so many years! I know my shoulders will always be big, but my goal is to mitigate the width by losing some inches in my arms and around my chest. Then maybe I'll have shoulders, arms, and a back to be proud to show off!

I wish I could say I just decided one day to be the best me I could be, but unfortunately, it took a bit of a health scare to make me realize what's at stake. I'd been off and on diets my whole life (even as a kid) and nothing ever seemed to work or seemed to stick. The weight would always come back, plus some. I reach my…

I have tried so many different diets, and even tried logging my food and exercise before, but nothing ever stuck. this is the longest i've ever been committed to a lifestyle change (not a diet)!! I joined about 3 weeks ago, and I love it here! Logging everything is so easy, especially with my phone app. I just ate out at a…

My current treadmill mix is pretty fast-paced and upbeat. A lot of hip hop and songs designed to inspire. I've got Kanye West's "New Workout Plan," Eminem's "Not Afraid" and "'Till I Collapse," Beyonce's "Run the World," Kid Sister, Outkast, TI, MOP. I went online and looked for songs that are fast-paced. A good base or…

It really might just be that you're losing weight evenly throughout your body- a little here, a little there. It might take a little longer to notice a change than in someone who's losing all the weight in one place. But look at the bright side- if you're losing everything evenly, you won't be stuck with one part of your…

I'm in! My arms have never been toned and strong, and I would love to have arms like my idol Michelle Obama! Can't wait to see how strong they feel, and see how great they'll look as I lose more body fat!
