It's only been 4 weeks. You've lost 12 lbs in those 4 weeks. I wouldn't call this being "stuck". Patience and persistence...

I use a bench for my step ups. I'm also 5'3", just find the lowest bench in your gym. I've found the need to think about balancing really helps with my focus in the gym.

If you were training to run a significant distance, I would say that you need to be careful of the weight training. But for a 5K, there is nothing wrong with going heavy. I do 2 days of HIIT and a long run (5-6 miles) each week and the heavy lifting has helped tremendously in my running. It balances out all the…

eat the calories. Exercise needs fuel as does recovery.

Agree with above. Some days you only have 1 or 2 fresh foods. Try to substitute more fresh veggies over things like hot dogs and such. Also, you eat a lot of sugar. Ketchup is PACKED with sugar. If you want a topping for something like a hot dog, try diced tomatoes instead. Really pay attention to the kinds of calories you…

with a quick consult with your doctor, a woman of 300# can definitely run. Take it slow, listen to your body, and get the right kind of shoes. Start with a Couch to 5K style program that alternates running and walking. As far as obese men vs. women running, I think it's likely that obese men generally aren't as embarrassed…

NROL will NOT bulk you up. I don't even think there is such thing as "white muscle". And why on earth does muscle growth make you store fat? muscle requires a lot of calories to keep working, so it does the opposite...And if your friend is correct, why aren't all these body builders fat *kitten*? Certainly their muscle…

"lifting light" isn't an absolute. What is heavy for me is light for someone else. The concept of lifting heavy means gutting out the highest weights you can while getting in the number of reps required (almost never more than 12 IMO). That said, I hope you're not just using those weights for curls and such. You'll be able…

If evenings aren't working, getting up a couple hours early would. then you have all kinds of quality time after the kiddos go to bed. Staying fit is extremely important and should take precedence. But I always try to schedule it so it has the least impact possible on my partner and our life.

There is no secret. You just have to do it.

I use New Rules of Lifting for Women. Search the forums and you will find a crap ton of advice on this.

Heavy lifting! muscle is a calorie torcher and, if you really want to re-shape your body, building muscle is the way to go. Don't rely on body pump for this. Body pump is too cardio heavy. Get something like Stronglifts 5x5 or (my fave) New Rules of Lifting for Women. Give it several weeks and I guarantee you'll be stoked…

I've dropped about 5% in 8 weeks. So, no. Just make sure you're doing it right: clean eating, a little cardio, good and heavy lifting...

Are you getting the right kinds of foods? Plenty of iron and potassium? Maybe your body needs a couple days rest. 151 seems a very reasonable weight for your height. I don't think you've lost "too much". Check your nutrition and, especially, your post-workout recovery.

The "fat-burning zone" is misleading. Think of it like this: You walk at a low intensity, and burn 100 calories. say 75 of these are fat calories. OR, you run at a higher intensity for the same amount of time and burn 200 calories. Let's say at this intensity, on 50% comes from fat rather than the 75% of the other. You…

lululemon's tops are graet for this. They are expensive (like, $40) but man, the few that I have have lasted me about 3 years and through multiple marathon training cycles. I LOVE them. Worth the investment.

I usually just sack up and soldier on. I find it helps to kind of cleanse my palate with a day of yogurt and HUGE salads and I might add in a mile to my run, but there is nothing you can to to un-do it. Life happens, don't stress over it.

I betcha they don't work as well as a nice hard cardio session...:)

More important than deciding on how long you're going to work out, you need to decide why. Setting goals will dictate what kind of time on what kind of exercise you need to be doing. I am trying to cut body fat and pack on some muscle/strength. I also have 5K and 10K PR goals. So these dictate how long I do what.

If your body is handling it, then keep it up. If you find your recovery slow and energy levels depleted, it might be. This isn't a black or white answer. It's completely dependent on the person

Nuts, legumes, and beans all offer great sources of protein. To cut the carbs a bit, try making veggies a side as opposed to the standard rice, potatoes, pasta routine. For some beautiful vegan dishes FULL of protein try: www.ohsheglows.com One of my favorite things is to have a huge salad with chickpeas or black beans and…

It's only been a week. Give your body time to adjust. Working out will not only help you lose weight, but also be fit (difference between fit and skinny). Good for you for making this effort! Sorry to hear about your loss and I commend your efforts and recognizing that you should be healthy and take care of yourself! I…

Gentle yoga and biking. Find a good yoga studio and inform them of your injury. they will offer you some modifications if you feel you need them.

1) No clue. 2) In and out 3) Maybe around 100. 4) Do what you can. It's just running. You evolved to do this well. Just put on shoes and run.

Recovery drink. Either a protein shake or chocolate milk works for me.

Have a snack late in the afternoon and work out before dinner....

Another good reason. At the end of my best 5K I was really close to throwing up all over my poor boyfriend and had to spend a significant amount of time walking verrrry slowly until the world stopped spinning. I never run to this point in training. My training supports race efforts where you have a day that is all about…
