Try anything off of bodyrock.tv they have great workout videos. I give my dog ice cream when I go to work out so she leaves me alone...maybe the same would work for your kid. :)

To optimize weight loss I would advise adding in strength training instead of swimming. If you don't like to swim, don't swim.

ETA: Next time, line up closer to the front. There are slow runners/walkers in every race. Adjust for where you feel you need to be.

I only count my PRs that are done on official courses with official time keeping. I figure anything else is just an awesome workout. Part of the challenge of getting a new PR is having to adapt to race circumstances. No one wins the marathon by running the course on their own. That said, they are your records, your choice.…

I just switched to Gaspari's Myofusion Probiotic series. The Cinnamon Roll is delicious.

+1 to Burpees. Walking lunges, jumping jacks, pushups, a yogic chair pose also come to mind. When I was in the military, it used to get crazy boring on watch duty. (You can only check for fires so many times.) I got to a point where I could hold a pretty-much perfect chair pose for about 4 mins. It was weirdly impressive…

You shouldn't be famished from that level of activity. I have a feeling this is more about not eating the right kinds of food rather than not eating enough. Soon after exercising you should have a good recovery meal to rehydrate and speed recovery. I like chocolate milk a LOT. It has a perfect carb:protein ratio and is…

heavy, compound lifts. Deadlifts are amazing as are squats and lunges.

I used Higdon for my first full and had good results. I thought it was a little light on midweek mileage, so I added in a few miles here and there.

I don't like to set my hard-earned money on fire.

The only way to get rid of it is reducing fat overall. You should be doing core work as part of your strength training routine, but all these "Crunches to Blast Belly Fat!" claims are hokum. Just keep on keepin' on.

I also like NROL. I'm in Stage 3 and was pretty much a beginner when I started. It's fun. Check the book out of your library to see if you like it, but I recommend buying it. I refer back to it often.

Much better to feel a little foolish now than to ignore a signal from your body that something is wrong. IMO part of fitness is developing a healthy respect for what your body has to say. I'm 100% in favor of pushing hard and testing your limits and have finished races dry heaving (but with a PR :)). There is a difference…

Sure. Quit being lazy. There's no magic solution. It is hard work and doing things you might not necessarily like doing (lookin' at you, front squats). I suggest finding a form of cardio that you love (swimming isn't quite the best choice, dance/walking/biking/running would likely be better) and then pick a good lifting…

See your doctor.

You don't think the exercise had anything to do with fat loss rather than putting plastic all over yourself? Weight loss alone isn't indicative of success. Fitness and a healthy body are.
-
No, I see the point. But it isn't a debate. Interesting debates on exercise don't contradict science. Giving any level of credence to things like this promotes dangerous behavior and just further muddies the waters for those looking for real information. The diet/fitness industry has spent years marketing "quick-fixes" to…

It can be excreted through sweat....sweating doesn't pull out fat....

I did bodypump for a while also. It was fun. But I didn't see the results with that that I am getting from NROL. I'm about to start Stage 3 and I freaking love it. I would ditch the Bodypump and get through at least Stage 1 with just NROL and your cardio. If you're pleased with the results, keep at it...if not, maybe look…

Ugh, JEALOUS! I'm so close to 100# on my deadlift. I noticed my grip giving out also as I got up past about 85#. I tried a lot of gloves and didn't like many. Now I have Versa Gripps. They were expensive, but so worth it. I love mine and find them so much better to use and I don't have to peel gloves on and off...they are…

I expect one! I'd also like to participate in the infomercial where there is a fake-cheery model bulging out of her pants until she discovers......the magic of heat! As a free bonus if you order in the next 30 mins, you get a Costco-sized roll of cling wrap to keep that heat going all through your day!

Give it another month. It takes time for your body to respond to stimulus. 4 weeks is not that long in exercise terms. I think it would also help you to add some resistance/strength training to all that cardio. You'd see an increase in the number of calories you are burning and also preserve any lean mass you have to keep…

What about steam rooms? They don't burn fat either. They feel great, give you a nice refreshing sweat....but they aren't burning any fat....
-
"Creating Heat" doesn't burn fat....a caloric deficit does. Otherwise I'd just aim my hair dryer at any fat I want gone.....

I swear, this is like the 17th post on this I've seen here. If it sounds stupid and ridiculous then it probably is. Jeez, people.

Agreed. I'm also pretty sure the book says "Finish all reps on one leg, switch legs and do reps on that side" or something similar...

I'm not a member (as is apparent by my photo...). But I do live in Atlanta and am in the local track club. BGR have an awesome presence at all of our club races. Many are in the Track club. While cheering on the marathon last fall I saw a LOT of BRG girls. They are a great local organization and have runners of all sizes…

1000 calories a day? Does this include what your body burns naturally? This is what I burn on a 9 mile run. And I sure as **** don't run 9 miles every single day.....your body needs fuel/rest..... Are you wearing a HRM from the time you wake up?

Same.
