First one was about 31 minutes. First one after getting back into running this year was 34 minutes, and I was proud of every one. :)

You look great!

Think of the calorie goal like a game of horseshoes, not a race finish line. You want to end up pretty close - but 20 calories over or under...you're probably getting more variation just due to estimation / nutrition label error here. Don't sweat 20 calories!

My best advice is do one thing at a time - track your food and be mindful of what you eat every day, and then figure out what you can do to be healthier. So focus on eating one healthy meal a day, or swapping chips for nuts, or water instead of soda, etc. Every time you do something like that, you are on the road to…

I started running at 225ish, ran a 5k, and made it up to a 1/2 marathon before I made it below 200 pounds. So yes, you can run at (mostly) any size. I used to be incredibly worried about being judged, not being fast enough, etc. etc. etc. Once I did start running with others (first I found a super supportive friend, and…

One thing that I've found that helps is instead of imagining holidays as time to bum around and be lazy, I try to schedule activities that get me active. You mentioned a pretty cool walk that you can do - maybe try to plan a couple more of those types of activities - it helps keep you fit and makes the time you do spend…

i'm in a similar boat of always being the 'biggest' at about the same size - feel free to add me as a friend!

greek yogurt, lean meats, beans and legumes. i see you are eating a lot of sandwich and soup type things - you can try to add in protein or swap for things with a bit more

Hmn. It will probably depend on the manufacturer- you could google the equipment and find out. As far as I know there is no standard for these types of things.

Take it one day at a time and don't get discouraged. You won't be able to do everything at first, but if you look closely neither do the people on the video. Just keep going and you'll love it!

It seems like people are trying to give you MORE guilt... Do what you need to do, for YOUR life & family. If that means working out some evenings, then do it, and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it.

I used to have bad shin splints, and found that running with a shorter stride really helped. Also, SHOES - what everyone else is saying. They don't need to be $$, but they need to be right for you - esp. if you are like me and run on the outside of your feet so need the kind of shoes that are different than 9/10 of people…
-
And yes to getting your feet analyzed and getting proper shoes - shoes that fit YOU are worth more than anything.
-
Go for it - you may be surprised at how far you get, and even if you walk a while it is fun! My first 5k I was surprised at how many people were running near my speed - it really helped motivate me to keep going.

I have a standing desk and move around a lot when I work and love it, so I'm all for options vs. chairs, but I can't imagine cycling while working would be easy. Also, its hard to concentrate both on moving your body enough to get fit and working at the same time...

I think what you mean is "it is attainable for someone who has a ton of time, no injury, is willing to do a super-hardcore training schedule but for some reason hasn't been doing it already, doesn't get any injuries, and is a lucky *kitten*." I believe that "someone" has attained this, but for 99% of people this is a…

Me! I love driving stick. I learned how to drive one in a busted up old jeep with a truck clutch in a home depot parking lot at night and then proceeded to try to cross customs into the US using my newly found ability...that was a somewhat adventurous endeavor, but I made it!

You've just started - this is a learning process. If you go over one day, you go over. You won't be perfect every day. A lot of this is about planning, and planning takes practice, so next time you know it will be a 'big night' you will be able to plan a bit better. This is coming from someone who also went way over where…

That is just....dumb. It's like saying that eating an apple and eating chicken in the same meal makes it bad for you. Oh wait, people do say stuff like that too!! Personally I like things that mix it up, like interval training, or cardio that incorporates bodyweight (e.g. Insanity). Kinda the best of both worlds if you are…

What I've learned about yoga is there are a million different types of classes. I agree with most others that you will likely be surprised at how comfortable you feel and how you will see people moving at their own pace. If you don't feel comfortable, try another class. The one piece of advice I have is to avoid is a class…

My advice: One step at a time. Pick one change and stick with it, and then incorporate others as you go. Be proud of what you accomplish, as you are accomplishing it.

I eat greek yogurt (plain) with jam or fruit every morning for about 200-250 calories. Sometimes I also add 100 calories of nuts or granola
-
You have a great storytelling vibe. Good for you - your pictures look amazing!

Having watched someone (non-jokingly) scoop out a "1/2 cup" of ice cream that filled a pint glass...its more common than you may think...
-
I'm at that point right now - I had to skip my morning workout because I had to work early, and now I am not wanting to do it when I get home. Here's trying for some motivation....!
-
My advice is to plan out what you are going to do ahead of time - from your clothes, to your travel plans, to your workout. (It sounds like you are doing most of this). It really helps limit the excuses and helps make your morning time more efficient.

In which case, I'm still peeved at a system that doesn't give sick days. We all get sick, and if you are allowed to stay home when you are gross then everybody wins!
-
I try to stay -100/+300 because I set a reasonable goal, not a flaming limbo bar to go under.

Weight loss is not linear. Sometimes it takes a while with no results and then you will see a loss. It sounds like you are doing the right stuff so stick with it.
