  • I don't look like i have my current weight either, but it has to be because of lean muscle, i am stronger than many (not to say most) women my age at my gym and i lift weigths so it makes sense.
  • Salmon!!!!, and use more vegetable oils, that's all i can't think of right now that doesn't involve nuts or avocado or peanut butter
  • Definitely both. I don't know if you can judge by the pic but you might be able to tell that i don't look too muscular for a woman at all (i'm saying is in case there are women worried about turning like Hulk) And i lifted HEAVY from the beginning, eating the right amount of proteins from the beginning and i'm very strong…
  • Well, i thought it would be as easy as switching mfp to maintenance mode, and eating all the "remaining calories" and entering the amount of calories burned (i use a heart rate monitor and i'llkeep using it until i find the right balance). But it's not that simple. I found i was still losing weight, even when i switched to…
  • When I need energy for extended periods of time I always have non-instant oatmeal (made with water, some milk added) with fruits for breakfast. If my calorie allowance is ok with it, I add pb or dried fruits (or any other source of protein and healthy fats). It's the only thing that allows me to work properly for that…
  • I don't remember exactly when I started feeling normal again but I think it was 4 to 7 days after starting treatment. Weightloss started almost immediately, I think two days after (it could have been a coincidence because I could lose weight even with no treatment but it was at a snail pace, like 100 grams loss every two…

  • Go to the gym, change to your gym clothes there and then once you finished your workouts dry your sweat with a towel and change back to your warm dry clothes and go back home to shower. Of course that means more laundry to do but that's better than not working out. If you can go outside and it's not dangerous then there's…
  • Thank you both! I have been doing two full body strength training routines per week, i should cut them to just one...i'll do just that routine split in two halves. That would save me time which would be so good for my schedule! I do cardio 5 days a week (3 intense sessions, 2 lighter ) but i might cut them down to three…
  • You have to avoid refined white sugar but you don't need to avoid fructose (sugar in fruits) like the plague. You should limit the amount though, but it is good for you. Any fruit is. Carbs are good for you as well, aim to cut high GI carbs and keep a healthy amount of low GI carbs in your diet for energy.
  • I'm not on Synthroid, I'm on Eutirox 50mg. I was diagnosed in august 2011, and I lost 99,2 lbs. My weightloss journey has just ended (I reached my goal weight yesterday), and you can do the maths and see that it took me a looong time to reach my goal. My thyroid is not well treated and since last february it's been really…
  • When you all say low carb ... Do you mean high GI carbs? Or do you mean we should cut all carbs? Because I've been having my daily low GI carbs and I feel fine and losing weight in a fairly normal rate (considering I'm hypo and close to my goal weight, which means losing slower than any normal person)
  • I agree with everything you said! I live in Spain and things are pretty much the same here. In products coming from important brands, they usually state how much a portion weighs, but of course that means you have to use a scale to calculate it ;( Mfp should really update the system so that it isn't so picky with accents…
  • This. I learned about BMR, TDEE, calorie deficits and macros and i never understood any of that. Before i joined MFP i had been on a diet for 8 months and was actually undereating without being aware of it! Since I'm still brainwashed to think that I have to put very little on my plate I'm sticking to MFP to eat the right…
  • I have always struggled with this, when i was obese, when i was overweight, and now that I'm close to my goal weight. It sucks. I don't think it's denial, there has to be some kind of weird focal perception thing that doesn't work when we use the mirror. I haven't taken a pic of myself in months, and I am slimmer than ever…
  • Tell them the truth, that you're eating healthy and have to rely on the scale to calculate portion sizes, because you tend to make them larger than they should be. Don't mention the word dieting, why? Because you shouldn't diet (the way media and society views dieting), you just have to eat healthy to build muscle and make…
  • My aunt who raised me did very hurtful comments, even when she was about to die. Then my mother in law used to comment on my weight or size at every situation even when it had nothing to do with what we were talking about or doing at that given time. But one of the worst things was when she gave me a gift (for a b-day or…
  • I didn't forget to post my results, it just was impossible to load the forum section on my ipod. Here are my numbers! SW: 62.8 kgs (138.45lbs) CW: 60.4 (133.15lbs) GW: 60 kgs (132.28lbs) So, I didn't reach my goal weight (as expected) but I was pretty close! So I'm really happy that I joined the challenge, it did help me…
  • To me it means no processed foods or aditives. Cooking from scratch. Remember you must eat mostly lean foods but there are fats that you DO NEED, found in oils, fish, seeds and other sources.
  • OMG!!! What's this lump here?!? OMG! OMG I have...IT'S CANCERRRRRR!!!!!! Oh wait no, it's just a bone... I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me, when I felt my tailbone I really, really thought it was a tumor! I completely forgot what it was to have a tailbone (not visible of course!) Other positives... No…
  • Thank you all for your advice!!! No, I can't pay for additional tests, I mean, I could do it all through private services but then my GP wouldn't treat my thyroid anymore. And of course I can't afford such long private treatments right now, but I hope to be able to do that in the near future. I'll talk to my doctor about…
  • Thank you all and thank you Doodlewhopper for posting the article! Spinach, strawberries, mustard and peanuts... I'm dead!!! I do eat my spinach, and any veggie cooked, and I don't use any of them in raw salads. But I put strawberries and peanuts on my morning oatmeals. That's bad news though I'll eat them all in…
  • On wasa bread crisps!!! Umm i shouldn't have clicked on this thread, I'm craving now!!!!
  • OMG!!!! Do I have to say that you like like an entirely different person?! .... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations! You look beautiful and so healthy!!!!
  • Zero. I overate on Christmas dinner, and that's it. Tomorrow is NYE's Eve, and I'm planning to do the same. The rest of the week I've been focusing on maintaninig weight and I actually lost some.
  • Losing more than 5 kgs in such a short period of time is never healthy. Chances are diets like Dukan might work along with a good exercise program but really, I wouldn't do it. I know it's useless for you if I say this, but those who invited you to their wedding want you to be there to celebrate along with you, not to have…
  • I bet there is a change your eyes just don't see for whatever reason. Usually it's because we expect our shape to change but at the beginning all we get is just the same shape but tinier. And that's still good enough! Wait until you reach a weight closer to your goal weight for your shape to change :) The fact that people…
  • Thank you guys!!! I have a batch of cauliflower pizza that i really didn't want to throw away. I'll just get one slice per week until it's gone :) (it's in the freezer, of course) I was so happy that i finally found a low GI recipe for my "no meat" days *sigh* I'm avoiding soy and only having like two tablespoons per…
  • Overeating one day and giving in to your hunger feeling shouldn't stall your weightloss. But, you might be burning more calories than you think and your body might need more calories than those you eat. Maybe getting a heart rate monitor (or fitbit) would help you a lot in knowing your true daily expenditure and that would…
  • So was I!!! I'll give this a try and this is going straight to my Pinterest board for my own easy reference
  • Bump! Gotta try this with both potatos and potato chips!!! I usually just bake the chips but it looks like it wil save me plenty of time!
